Grey's Anatomy Promotes Jesse Williams to Series Regular

To the surprise of no one, Jesse Williams (Jackson Avery) has become the latest, full-time member of the Grey's Anatomy cast. He'll be in the main credits next fall.

Entertainment Weekly reported Tuesday morning that Grey’s Anatomy upgraded Williams to a full-time series regular, a promotion beginning with this fall's Season 7.

Williams joined Grey’s last October as part of the polarizing Mercy West merger plot, but was quickly pegged as the one with the most staying power of that crew.

Last month, creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes all but confirmed that Williams, as well as fellow rookie Sarah Drew (April), would be back next fall.

The Grey's Anatomy cast just got bigger (and better looking).

“April and Jackson have really been folded into the group,” she said. “It’ll depend on what the network decides, but I fully advocate to have both them [stick around].”

Meanwhile, Drew’s deal for next season is still being worked on, so stay tuned.

Are you excited to see Jesse become a full-time Grey's Anatomy cast member and for more Dr. Avery? Indifferent? Upset that new characters keep being added? Discuss!
