It's been described as Desperate Housewives meets The Vampire Diaries meets Happy Town meets True Blood meets Eastwick.

This either means ABC's new summer series, The Gates, will combine all the elements of these shows into one entertaining, ideal hour of television...

... or it will flame out as an unoriginal rip-off.

We'll find out when The Gates premieres on June 20. For now, all we can do is wonder about it and base our opinions on whatever spoilers and videos are released online.

For example, in the following two clips, we meet the Monohans, a family that moves into this gated community from Chicago; and Rhona Mitra's Claire, a woman that already resides there and, well, might not exactly be all woman:
