i don't like her and i don't like her character either on the first and second season she was all goody two-shoes and wanted to fit in i think she's just like her character and she's just trying to call atenttion she dresses like a whore and the way she talks it's just not ok i was raised catholic too and i don't agree with the church or their rules either i just believe in god. she's just a rocker wannabe

The Catholic Church has taught a lot of stupid things over the years. For example: Do you read magazines or newspapers? You use a phone or radio? All of these things were once condemned by Pope Pius IX as evils of "the modern age."
I believe in the dogmas and core beliefs of the Church, but I see nothing wrong with critically assessing the more minor teachings.
I don't think that being a "cafeteria Catholic" is such a bad thing.

Yes she does make valid points, but at the same token lets be real here - if you don't want to get a rep for being "trashy" then you avoid comments such as these.
She's 16 at the end of the day, and is going through a major attitude adjustment in trying to find herself... which is fine but at the same time it makes people see her as someone very much self-absorbed and attention seeking.
She needs to calm down and start acting like a teenager.
If she wants to make points about equality and sexual preferences I'm sure she could be less crude... especially as a TV influence; because her attitude of putting 2 fingers up against the world is not doing her any justice.
But on her comment, I would have been fine with it had she said acted more professionally - since it was an interview... fine with friends but seriously? no.
On the whole - i'm not her biggest fan, even her character annoys the hell out of me!

Just to set all you cafeteria Catholics straight: the Church says that masturbating for BOTH girls AND guys is WRONG and should thus obviously not be condoned. It's something that probably almost everyone (if not indeed everyone) does at least once or more times in their life but it's also a temptation that must not be acted upon. No pain, no gain. No cross, no crown. No work, no reward. So you can either keep deluding yourself with thinking you can call yourself a Catholic, while at the same time supporting issues that the Church EXPLICITLY forbids, or you can come clean and take your faith seriously. C'est tout ;~)

Sure its surprising to see a teenager talk about this in the media, but what she's saying is true.
Look, I'm Catholic and I would say the same as Taylor. It IS disgusting. Its liek trying to find a loophole in the Bible.
As for her comments on masturbation, I think she's absolutely right, and I salute her for saying that women have just as much right to masturbate as men. Nobody blinks an eye about a 15-year-old boy wanking, why should'nt a 16 year old girl be allowed to pleasure herself?

I used to hate her until I realized that everyone during their teenage years are looking for their "identity" and trying new stuff. It's her choice to look and behave like this, so whatever floats her boat, you know? Am I the only Catholic who's NOT offended by Taylor Momsen? The problems that she's commenting on are real, and if the Church wants people to stop dissing it then they should try actually solving the problems instead of hating on their critics.
Taylor Momsen DOES come across as kind of awful and teenage at times, but that's kind of inevitable at her age and overall I think that she's pretty cool. She's also uber-talented and I have high hopes for her career. Miss Nothing is an awesome song, even though the music video is completely embarrassing.
Also: I give her major props for trying to level the playing field when it comes to masturbation. (My vibrator may not be my best friend, but it IS my boyfriend haha.)

I am actually breaking my six month long commenting hiatus to come to Taylor Momsens defense.
I find her to actually be an incredible role model for teenage girls.
I would so much rather have a teenage girl be open about masturbating, a completely safe means of sexual exploration, than for her to be open about sleeping around with various people. Girls are sexual beings too, yet are shamed to think that their pleasure is shameful. Think about what we're shown everyday.

okay, honestly, when i read the article i was like 'wtf? she's messed up!' then i listened to the clip, and it completely changed my mind. the comments are taken out of context + made to sound a lot worse and taylor sounds more aggressive, but if you listen to the clip she sounds nice and as if she's having a laugh, you say she's young, then you pick on every little thing she says. chill out.
