Taylor Momsen: I'm Not a Whore For Masturbating!

by at . Comments

Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen does not censor herself.

In her quest for rock stardom, the 17-year-old certainly looks and acts the part, with racy outfits and controversial quotes surfacing as often as The Pretty Reckless' music.

What did the band's frontwoman say to make headlines this time?

A New Zealand radio station recently landed a Taylor Momsen interview in which she discussed The Pretty Reckless' song, "Going Down," about the Catholic church.

Why did they pen a song about that in particular? "I was raised Catholic. I f*%ked a priest once. Just kidding," she said. "It seemed like a fitting song to write at the time ... It was kind of a f*%k you to all the molestation going on. It was just insane."

Hard Rocker

Taylor Momsen could not care less what people think.

She went on to bash people for posting photos of her online, but also defended Perez Hilton and other bloggers for just doing their job: "I don't take [stories about me] to heart; I just look at it this way: My f*%king tampon's on the goddamn Internet."

Regarding her so-called best friend, she said: "[My vibrator] doesn't talk back to me so it's really not a best friend... I think women should equally be allowed to pleasure themselves as much as men. I think that if that has any more controversy than a man talking about pleasuring himself, then there's something wrong with the world. I just think men and women should be treated equally. I'm not a whore for masturbating, so, like, f*%k you if you want to call me one."

On the subject of teen heart throb Justin Bieber, Taylor said: "I don't know who Justin Bieber is. I only know his name because it keeps being brought up to me ... I listen to Led Zeppelin and The Beatles, so I have no idea who he is. That's not a dis; I just don't know."

Well, there you go. What do you think of Taylor? Is she a cool girl just speaking her mind, or a bad role model in need of a serious attitude adjustment?

I am actually breaking my six month long commenting hiatus to come to Taylor Momsens defense. I find her to actually be an incredible role model for teenage girls. I would so much rather have a teenage girl be open about masturbating, a completely safe means of sexual exploration, than for her to be open about sleeping around with various people. Girls are sexual beings too, yet are shamed to think that their pleasure is shameful. Think about what we're shown everyday.
Homegirl has the makings of a great young feminist rocker.

It's easy to understand some people's difficulty with Taylor Momsen, but she does make a point here.

okay, honestly, when i read the article i was like 'wtf? she's messed up!' then i listened to the clip, and it completely changed my mind. the comments are taken out of context + made to sound a lot worse and taylor sounds more aggressive, but if you listen to the clip she sounds nice and as if she's having a laugh, you say she's young, then you pick on every little thing she says. chill out.

I really don't get Taylor Momsen...just like as a girl to girl...what caused all of this FU all! behaviour? Honestly! Did she get a huge bitch slap from some1 or whatever, coz first she was this cute girl playin evil Jenny...now it is like she is out there to get a specific message to us...but what is it that she exactly wants to say? "Oh, I am such a sex-drugs-rocknroll chick!"...Just keep your cool, n ppl will take you seriously.

I get the word "special" from you wanting to afford abusing priests freedom from the kind of criticism that you heap onto Momsen in spades. Anyway, I can see that you're set in your opinion, so there's little point in continuing the discussion. Please feel free to continue being a hater!

If she is such a ROCKER and all that crap, so true-evil-badass-fuck-the-world-blablabla she should quit the mainstream and try alternative ways. There are PLENTY, millions of bands out there saying whatever they want and being hardly judged because they are not very popular. They keep themselves judge-free on the low-stream. But I guess that's not enough for her, is it?

AL, I really don't know where you got the word "special" from, frankly I'd be indignant no matter what group of people Taylor, or any other musical artist for that matter, put the shit on. In short, I'll say this: the world has enough "you screwed up, and you're a terrible person" or simply "hate" music, so why doesn't she sing about something worthwhile? However, you are right about her opinion: As negative, arrogant, and abysmally puerile as I find it, it's still her opinion and she does indeed deserve to say it. It's simply my opinion that she doesn't need to turn it into a song that will be played over and over again in the future. Whatever, I think her bad attitude is more than just a teen being a teen and I'll be interested to see where her life goes (as far as the media portrays it, that is).
