Dancing With the Stars Results: Week One

at .

After its typically drawn-out votes-revealing process, Dancing With the Stars bid farewell to the first of its dozen couples last night on the season's first results show.

In a bit of a surprise move, David Hasselhoff got the boot.

We assumed the Hoff had the kind of name recognition and support that would keep him around for a few weeks in spite of his rough effort Monday, but apparently not.

David Hasselhoff and Kym Johnson are shown the exit.

Right off the bat, they told us that of the lowest scoring four, Michael Bolton and Margaret Cho would be sticking around. That was a bit of a surprise, as they seemed more at risk.

We really didn't foresee an early departure for Hasselhoff or The Situation.

But, when the dust settled, Sitch and Karina Smirnoff, Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer, Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya and the Hoff were faced with elimination.

Guess the German contingent didn't come out for David.

Oh well. Hasselhoff had a good run, and certainly had the right attitude. It was great to see him give it a real go, and self-deprecatingly at that. He will be missed.

That's what the show is all about, right? Now it's on to next week and the same list of candidates look to be in danger. Who do you like to go all the way this fall?

Also, do you think David should have gone last night?
