White Collar Summer Season Finale Review: "Point Blank"

at . Comments

Last night's episode of White Collar ended in quite the shocking twist! But, before we get to that, let's review what happened in "Point Blank."

We finally got to see what was inside that music box, and of course, it was another secret code.

Neal on a Mission

Since this was the mid-season finale, I wouldn't expect anything less from Jeff Eastin. Last year at this time, Neal was being framed and had to jump out of windows to escape from getting arrested. This year, we can only imagine what the music code means to our guys.

Probably one of my favorite scenes from last night had to be when Mozzie and Neal put together the fake case for Peter. Each part of making the case authentic was awesome. From the coffee stain to the perfume to having Mozzie serenade Neal with the Batman theme song - all had me laughing out loud.

I was happy that Fowler finally gave us (some) of the answers we have been waiting to understand. Because it was Kate's idea to fake her and Neal's death with the bomb, do you still think there's a slight chance that she is not dead?

Fowler also made it clear that it was not him who she called right before the plane blew up; even though it was traced back to his phone number. So if Fowler is telling the truth, who could have made the switch of numbers on the black box?

It would have to be someone very cunning. Someone that's always been one step ahead of our boys. Could be Julian Larson?

I just want to take this moment to make a quick shout out to all of The Gates fans out there! How great was it to see our poor, late Christian alive and doing well on another program?! And by the looks of it, Paul Blackthorne will definitely bring it when this season comes back again in January.

The final scene really left me in shock! Of course, our beloved Mozzie can't die, but it was still quite disheartening to watch him topple over and suffer from the shot to the chest. Re-watching it, I noticed Julian getting something out of his pocket before he left him there to die. What do you think it could be?

Overall, I was happy the way the writers tied up all the loose ends, but still left us wondering what will happen next. What did you think of last night's episode? Love it or love to hate it - let us know!

Until January, we leave you with a few of our favorite White Collar quotes below:

Peter: Did you kill her?
Fowler: No.
Peter: You're gonna tell me who did. | permalink
Peter: Look at me Neal. Look at me. This isn't who you are. | permalink
Neal: I have five shots left - that's the only warning you get. Tell me why you killed Kate. | permalink
Mozzie: It's a dark day when I turn to the system instead of recoiling. | permalink
Hale: What happened to the goatee, you know I liked it?
Mozzie: We all grow up. | permalink

Surely you did NOT kill off Mozzie...probable it was a set up to catch the bad guy...Right?..No show without Mozzie....all characters jell together...thanks for a great suspense show (and comic relief)

Just when I am saying USA needs to get Mozzie and June in on some of their creative commercials (the only ones I can stand Mozzie gets shot.
Mozzie is a big part conspiracy theorist. Would he go out without a vest? He likely has some fold away portable gas mask somewhere on his person too.
Personally, I am hoping he's wearing kevlar and had a container of some red fluid that was shot. Maybe syrup?
Mozzie is so excellent that he would immediately know how to respond to the attempted assasination in order to stay alive. I hope they don't kill off the character, he is too wonderful to let go. Willie Garson, as always, plays his character perfectly. Hat's off to the casting genius. -Mia

As soon as neal said he wasnt alone i started to scream no .. i knew mozzie was a gonner. and the man who shot him took his note pad frum earlier when he stormed into neals appartment and saw the tracking device on the dog ... inside the pad had the answer or the encryption of the code in the music box. ANDDDD MOZZIE CANNOT DIE ITs JUS .. UGH . hE cannot!

As much as I LOVE this show.... If mozzie dies, I'm done.

Paul Blackthorne is a good actor and almost evershow he played (24, Dresdenfiles, lipstick jungle ...) he was acing so good. I am pretty sure he is going to make the whitecollar more colorful. But imho having him in at the cost of Willie Garson will be the end of show..

Also: I hate to be shallow here, but did anyone notice how gorgeous Neal was last night? Getting into the Russian embassy and while he had the gun on Fowler. I mean yeah, I love the show and all the characters and I even pay attention to the plot sometimes, but damn, that man was fine last night. Am I the only one who sees this?

I really, really hope Mozzie isn't dead. He is such a great character in the show and Neal needs him. But I have another question too. Was I the only one who thought Neal got over Kate's death awfully fast? I mean his hands shook that one time and then nothing more. I know it is just a show, but I honestly thought the show would have Neal at the very least a little quiet or upset, or sad or something for maybe an episode or two, but after getting Neal back out of jail, I mean I know 4 mos. had supposedly gone by, but it was just back to business as usual. Did that feel right? I was hoping maybe some flashbacks or the shaking would be written into the episodes. Do you get over the love of your life in 4 mos.? Wow, I'm thinking NOT.

This is great show and I can't imagine the show without Mozzi my favorite character. Writers in show please make sure he gets to the hospital on time and will survived. I don't like watching my favorite show without favorite character.

This has to be one of the best season finales I've ever seen. The "courtyard chase" scene was incredible, and the ending was a lot more intense than I expected from this type of show with the various "false finishes".

White Collar, great show and great cast. If Mozzie goes it will sure lose a lot...hope it doesn't happen.

White Collar Season 2 Episode 9 Quotes

(speaking to the music box) We've been so close, but now we finally meet.

Peter: Is this a good idea?
Neal: You have a better one?
