Glee Cast Members: Too Sexy for GQ?

at . Comments

The latest issue of GQ features provocative photos of Glee cast members Cory Monteith, Lea Michele and Dianna Agron, prompting us to ask a simple question:

GQ Cover Pic

Glee airs at the family-friendly hour of 8 p.m. It clearly courts a young demographic of viewers.

Does the show need more buzz? No. Does it need to prove it's sexy and/or edgy? Not really, considering many storylines feature sexual references and situations already. Heck, Artie lost his virginity last week and Santana referred to "scissoring" between her and Brittany!

So, once again, we can't help but ask: why go through with this photo shoot? What's the point?

Our friends at The Hollywood Gossip have posted more racy shots of Lea and Dianna HERE. Check them out and then sound off in our Glee forum: do you have a problem with this photo shoot?

** UPDATE: The Parents Television Council has gone overboard chimed in with: “It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on ‘Glee’ in this way. It borders on pedophilia."

My view on Glee is this: Cast members over act, and they go out of their way to not be high school students. Get real, are kids in high school even allowed to act and dance (in next to nothing costumes) like that in school? Do cheerleaders really wear their uniforms 24/7? While the cast is talented, they would be better suited in a college setting. I don't believe in roller-derby, pro wrestling either. It is an insult to ones intell.

who even cares come on it's 21 century!! They can appear wherever they want if you dont like it dont see it!

So if Glee airs at a "family friendly" hour and "courts a young demographic of viewers," shouldn't everyone be more up in arms about the show's content? High school kids sleep around and talk about sex as though it's second nature. And yet it's still considered a family show? If parents are all that concerned about the sexual nature of the photos, they probably shouldn't be letting their kids watch the show. And if they don't, then what's the big deal with the photos? They're perfectly in-keeping with the emphasis the show puts on sex.

Actually, I think it is Lea Michele who looks so provocative. Diana Agron, in that 'sexy' themed photos, still looks sweet. Is Lea Michele trying hard to shed off her gleeky image through these poses? Just take a look at her facial expression in the photos. It would pass for a porn magazine.

Finn looks hot in this pic!!! :D

My only issue is that it's crap hipster photography and Lea Michele looks dead awkward... well it is Terry Richardson.

Whether or not one agrees with the Glee cast doing such a photoshoot, the PTC is once again being their whiny, high-horse selves. The actors are well into their 20's, are entitled to do whatever they want, and as others have pointed out, this is GQ! No child is going to read it just because the Glee stars are in it. Really, the PTC needs to get off their soapbox.

"borders on pedophilia"
sounds like something PTC would say. take something and overblow it to inforce guilt.
But i see what they mean, how dare some 24 year old girls and a 28 year old guy do such a pedo act?!! ._.

If this was in Tiger Beat or whatever kids magazines are out there these days I'd say it's a bit dodgy, but this is a magazine aimed at adults!
I don't care for the photos myself (make the girls looks slutty and are pretty sexist) but they're not aimed at kids (or even people like me and I'm past my 20s) so I don't really see a problem with it.

the PTC need to calm down, dianna agron and lea michele have had other acting jobs before this, it just so happens that they have become more popular with glee than any other roles, they are grown women and whatever they do is up to them, dianna herself has said that she didn't feel comfortable doing this shoot, but seriously what eight year old is going to buy a copy of GQ magazine, and if they do then shame on the parents!

Glee Quotes

[to Finn] You know, I don't really know what's going to happen between us, but I know that you used to be the guy that would make me feel like the most special girl in the whole world, and it doesn't feel that way anymore. Now it just feels sad and confusing. And the worst part is that it doesn't even feel that bad anymore.

I'm engorged with venom, and triumph.
