When the character of Amelia Shepherd first arrived on Private Practice last season, major groundwork was laid for explorations of Addison's past - and even more so, Derek's.

On this week's Grey's Anatomy, McDreamy's little sister arrived and we learned a lot about how the man we love was shaped by their past, and how he views his sibling and his life.
