Grey's Anatomy Review: "Can't Fight Biology"

at .

On last night's Grey's Anatomy, "Can't Fight Biology," we found out within the first few minutes that Meredith has a hostile uterus and may not be able to ever get pregnant. Given the fact that she had a miscarriage during such a traumatic time, it kind of made perfect sense.

Personally, as much as Shonda may hint towards this baby situation never happening, I really feel like one day there will be a McBaby! Who knows? Maybe it's just my own wishful thinking. But, with all their dramatic history, wouldn't it make for a great happy ending?

Not Married But Cute

NO McBABY: Not yet, at least. Might it still happen down the line?

Not to switch shows here, but loving The Office as I do, I am anticipating this baby happening even more than Jim and Pam having their daughter! Meredith and Derek really just need this happily ever after situation in their lives.

So, Cristina finally made a break in her battle with her PTSD. It was pretty amazing watching her facial reactions to her patients truthful statement:

Cristina: Why would you want to put yourself through this again?
Her patient: Because I love what I do more than anything. You don't find something you love that much and let it go. You hold onto it and throw yourself in deeper. | permalink

It was like watching a light turn on inside Cristina. This scene was huge headway for her, but not enough. She still couldn't go back in the OR to help with the surgery.

Given that this is the fourth episode of the season, I still think it's going to take Cristina some time to be back to the great surgeon she once was. Do you think that the hospital will give her the time she needs to heal and get back to her old self?
Yang All Alone

IS CRISTINA BACK? Perhaps not yet, but she's getting closer.

Jackson's role this week increased from just a few one-liners and faulty mistakes to having actual depth. We found out this hunk of a man is not just eye candy. He's got brains!

Too bad he chose to go with his charm instead of his smarts to win his way into the OR. I really thought that Teddy was falling for his Rico Suave moves.

I'm glad to see this lady not fall for another pretty boy, but I definitely felt the heat when she walked into the changing room and saw him without his shirt. For goodness sake, who wouldn't be attracted to Jackson?!

It's like the writers from LA LA Land are hearing our comments, thoughts, and demands!

Not only did Jackson get some more air time, but so did Calzona! Arizona finally admitted to Callie that she doesn't like Mark. He is a pig, but he does have a heart of gold. What made this situation so unusual was having Alex be the one person to knock some sense into Arizona.

This was the second week in a row that April started to grow on me, especially since her crush on Derek is long gone. April fit right in to the small talk with Cristina and Meredith, don't you think? I'm really happy that Meredith is letting her (and Jackson for that matter) live with them.

I know some people will argue that Shonda is trying to replace Izzie and George, but I beg to differ! Just because they are all living under one roof doesn't mean that Shonda wants them to be the bizzaro versions of George and Izzie.

I have to admit that it was pretty darn funny watching Lexie run around jealous of April. Every time Lexie would say something, anything, it would make her sound like a huge zero. Even for me, a fan of Lexie (and Mark!) this situation was a big feat.

Honest to goodness, I got choked up when Lexie confronted Meredith about her insecurities and Meredith told her that she's a Grey. Finally it looks like Meredith views Lexie as one of her own kind.

Final thought, how great is it that Cristina and Owen bought a house?! If not for the fact that they are heading down the marriage road pretty steadily, but for the wicked house parties they can throw! Think drunken tequila influenced table top dancing like back in the day!

Hopefully, this scenario will happen. Guess only time will tell. What did you think about last night's Grey's Anatomy? Leave your thoughts and predictions below!

Some of my favorite Grey's Anatomy quotes from this week's episode:

Meredith: Biology says that we are who we are from birth. That are DNA is set in stone. Unchangeable. Our DNA doesn't account for all of us though, we're human. Life changes us. We develop new traits. Become less territorial. We start competing. We learn from our mistakes. We face our greatest fears. For better or worse, we find ways to become more than our biology. The risk of course is that we can change too much to the point where we don't recognize ourselves. Finding our way back can be difficult. There's no compass, no map. We just have to close our eyes, take a step, and hope to God we get there. | permalink
Arizona: Mark stares at my boobs when we talk. He starts at my face, but somewhere along the way he gets distracted and ends up at my boobs. I love guys. I love them. But I've tried my whole life to avoid the boob staring guy. Biology even helped me by making me gay. But now, my girlfriend's best friend is that guy. And I don't think I need to apologize for the fact that the only person I want staring at my boobs is you.
Callie: Boobs, really, you're making this about boobs?
Arizona: He stares at them.
Callie: 'Cause they're good boobs! | permalink
Derek: I love you and you love me. And whatever happens, I don't care. I don't want to know. I mean it. I don't want to know.
Meredith: Well the lab already has my blood so..
Derek: Here's what we're gonna do. No more doctors, no more labs. You and I we have a lot of sex. Maybe we make a baby, maybe we do not. Maybe you get Alzheimer's, maybe you do not. Just screw the odds, screw science. Let's just live. Whatever happens. Happens. Me and you. Okay?
Meredith: Okay.
Derek: Okay! | permalink
Meredith: I would never go to a hospital who puts their doctors on billboards for what it's worth. | permalink

Grey's Anatomy Season 7 Episode 4 Quotes

(to Meredith) You know this isn't normal.

Derek

Biology determines much of the way we live. From the moment we're born we know how to breathe and eat. As we grow older new instincts kick in. We become territorial. We learn to compete. We seek shelter. Most important of all, we reproduce. Sometimes biology can turn on us though. Yeah, biology sucks sometimes.

Meredith
