Grey's Anatomy Review: "Superfreak"
If there ever were an episode of Grey’s Anatomy that would make you realize that importance of practicing safe sex, “Superfreak” would be it, introducing viewers to a very rare condition that happens to some unfortunate people who catch HPV.
This disease is known as Epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) and pretty much causes your limbs to turn into tree like branches and tumors all over your body.
I really sympathized with Lexie’s initial reaction to when she first saw the patient. What’s even more scary is the fact that HPV happens to be one of the most commonly sexually transmitted diseases these days and EV can happen to anyone from any race. Yikes!
Okay, back to my review.
I couldn’t agree with Meredith more when she told April that she’s growing on her at the end of the episode. There’s something endearing about the fact that she’s a 28-year-old virgin, especially in our Jersey Shore day and age.
I really can’t wait to see April not only lose her virginity, but find a man! Maybe she and Alex can hit it off? How would you feel about that?!
Poor Cristina. After a traumatic episode last week, she’s still not really ready to be back inside the OR. Since Andrew is leaving, I think that only way she’s going to get over her fear is to have another traumatic experience happen to her to jolt her back into the reason she fell in love with it in the first place.
I did have warm, fuzzy feelings when Derek told Cristina that she’s family and her talent is too amazing to throw away. Since she was the one person who saved his life, maybe he will be the one person to save her life as a surgeon.
For those of you that don’t follow her character on Private Practice, we were finally introduced to one of Derek’s sisters, Amelia, and by the looks of her steamy scene with Mark at the end, we definitely are in for some major drama!
Sometimes, I wonder why Lexie can be so dense. Even April could see that Mark is totally in love with her and when she finally goes to see him, what else would she expect from the once playboy of his time? I still have hope for these two, do you?
Callie and Arizona were pretty funny trying to figure out a way to get Cristina out of their love nest and as it turned out, the only thing they needed to do is show her that three really can be a crowd. This scene is very reminiscent of the time when Cristina was trying to get George out of her place with Burke.
From the looks of it, Meredith is definitely ready to get back into surgery. She got the pass from the doc, so what’s the deal? Why wasn’t Meredith and her talents used this week?
Another one of our favorite doctors, Karev, showed that, he too, is still dealing with PTSD. Finally, with the chief’s help, he was able to ride the elevator again. Think he's over it?
Probably the most hilarious part from last night’s episode was watching Bailey freak out when a spider crawled out of the man’s hands during surgery. Everyone has a fear of something and Miranda's happens to be spiders. Who knew?
Overall, I enjoyed last night’s episode, but I did feel a bit unsatisfied. Maybe it had something to do with the whole Lexie and Mark situation. Ugh! Can’t these two just get back together already?!

I'm not too fond of april but I guess she is quite acceptable to be a regular cast.her character doesnt have too much presence though.
A story about her and karev could be quite interesting!
I hope they bring back mark and lexie together! That's the only reason why I still follow this show.other story arcs are already too boring and predictable.
Now that owen and yang are together officially, theres not much left to wait every week.I like them better when they were so so complicated.
Please bring back mark and lexie.

im really starting to hate meredith and REALLY hate lexie.
I always liked April.
What I can't understand is how meredith, lexie, jackson, and karev can pick on april and clearly make her uncomfortable and ENJOY it. SHE TRIPPED OVER HER BEST FRIENDS DEAD BODY AND FELL IN HER BLOOD. why make this girl feel more uncomfortable and vulnerable in a work environment that was hostile towards her to begin with? why why why?
first of all id like to say that i loooved meredith before and i really liked lexie. now they turned into assholes and im disgusted.

If something happens between Alex and April, I don't think they have to be drunk ! Why would April be drunk on her first time ? It could totally happen in another way, a much lucid way.

I don't think Der will be shocked by amelia's behaviour, cos of how she met the brain tumour bloke on the plane. But MArk's gone back to his safe place of sleeping with anyone who's interested. Shame, but his life lesson was from the wife who hadn't touched her husband in 4 years, hardly a parallel life experience.

Overall, another great episode. Painful as it is, it is a joy watching Sandra Oh portraying Cristina’s suffering from PTSD. If this woman is overlooked for an Emmy for another year, the Emmy-board seriously needs to get their eyes and heads checked.
Derek’s “your family” speech was phenomenal and it was nice to see some scenes between Derek and Cristina. Even though they didn’t pick each other, Cristina probably feels more like family to Cristina than his own sister, Amelia.
I don’t follow Private Practice, but I am not a huge fan of the Amelia-character to start out with. And how she ended up sleeping with Mark at the end, is completely beyond me: there was no real build-up towards it. At the beginning Mark is hugging Derek’s little sister like she’s family and at the end all of the sudden their heading towards doing the dirty deed, out of nowhere. It all felt very forced and even though Mark used to be this playboy, it seemed out of character even for him to hav

Alex is my favorite character - if they put April (whom is NOT growing on me) together - I will be mad. That speech that she did was all fine and dandy - but that was a Lexie speech. I swear I've heard Lexie get tough like that and say those same things to a bunch of people. It didn't seem original. I do have bad feelings that Alex and her will get togther though. I don't think the writers would make such a HUGE deal about her waiting for the "the one" - then have her get drunk and sleep with Alex though. I think if they sleep together Alex will become sweet and make her first time perfect.

it was a great episode but some parts where just painful.
-Cristina still in ptsd mode, is hard for me too watch, for her always being strong. I miss it.
-The end, when Lexi was on her way up to mark, and she saw him with Amelia... That made me so depressed. I like Derek to find out and see his reaction. It's stange but i love the sceens where he and mark were fighting.
-I wasn't gaga over the Derek and Cristina sceens, but it was a nice touch, but I think it could have somehow been done differnty...
-The begining sceen was kinda awkward for me, with Cristina in bed with MerDer.
-April. I hated her. I really did. But now, ... I don't. I don't feel like she's being pushed, I just think people still need time to warm up too her, I thought that wasn't going to happen for me but it did!
-April's speach. 'nough said. made my night.
-Teddy, poor poor Teddy. People hate to much on her. She's Cristina's cardio god. AND THE SHOW DOESN'T NEED ANOTHER CARDIO GOD. We get Cristina's scared

I love your site but I'm not big on your reviews. You seem to like everyone and now April is your new girl? From most of the boards that I read April is not liked as a character. If you took out the SL about April and Teddy then it was a really good episode. Loved all the Der/Cris scenes. Trying to insert April/Jackson to replace Izzie/George just doesn't work. Just feels like something is off. Love Mer being protective of Cris. Thought Amelia was (like she is on PrP) bratty and a bit sleazy. I really did like the scene at the end between Der/Amy mostly just because PD sells it and we get to learn a little more about Der's background. Lose April. Lose Teddy and great episode.

i have been saying this forever, i think april an alex would be really funny together. April
is that girl who is always alone and Alex is that guy that is always surrounded by girls, i think
it would be great to see and akward relationship/friendship unfold that could
get him the closure he needs. I think that they will get drunk and sleep
together and it will evolve into something more as the season develops!
