It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Review: "Mac's Big Break"

by at . Comments

This week, It's Always Sunny had the tough act of trying to follow up to the fantastic boat episode

So, was the gang able to do it with "Mac's Big Break?"

Charlie Plays Hockey

We were actually bigger fans of Dennis and Dee's pathetic attempt at a podcast than the main storyline.  That's probably because it brought back some of our favorite characters, such Cricket, with his dog vagina of a neck; and the always pathetic Waitress, with her pathetic pursuit of Dennis.

Also noteworthy?  Glenn Howerton must have channeled his Charlie Day, as he gave Dennis just an amazing high pitched voice as the egotistical, narcissistic radio host.  We would absolutely download their podcast (err tape) each week, so long as Frank keeps producing.

As for the main storyline, there were some hilarious parts during the training, like the choice of song for the montage, the repeated use of the word Jabroni, and the just the epic fail of Mac. We really hope Mac's entrance makes ESPN's Not Top 10 today.

The episode definitely had some great moments and fit well within the show's theme of all these losers failing at life, but it just paled in comparison to the last episode. Now for some of our favorite Always Sunny quotes after the jump.

Mac: Bro, when you tack on mass, you sacrifice flexibility. That's just a straight up fact
Charlie: That's insane. Touch your toes.
Mac: What am I a gymnast? | permalink
Charlie: You keep on using this word "jabroni" and... it's awesome. | permalink
Charlie: A good hockey wig could put this over the top, man. | permalink
Mac: All of my instincts and my training are telling me to use this like a weapon. | permalink

Eric Hochberger is the programmer of TV Fanatic, so please forgive his mediocre writing. His programming is far better. Follow him on Twitter and/or email him. Just don't request threaded comments. They're coming.

@Jabroni - Don't be such a Jabroni.

This was easily the funniest episode of the season in my opinion. I felt like both episodes of the two parter at the beginning of the season were pretty dull to Sunny standards, especially the second. As far as the boat one, I thought it was going to be a way better episode than what it ended up being. There were definitely funnier concepts they could have come up with for that topic. But this last episode was classic sunny, it just had something the other episodes were missing. I was really let down with the first three episodes but this last one was good enough to make me forget that shit. I hope they keep episodes like this last one coming for the rest of the season yo.

Dennis was doing a Jon Stewart impression, jackass!

I thought this episode was hilarious. Even better than the boat one. Mac throwing up and the wig during the montage made me laugh so hard. The last two minutes did too. The way Charlie explained to Mac how he failed immediately was so funny.

Radio Host: You gotta stop cursing.
Mac: You guys can't censor me. I'm a bit of a bad ass.
