I have said this before, but knowing what I know now, I would have preferred Izzie to have died on the season 5 cliffhanger and have George live and go off to Iraq.
I was bitterly disappointed on how Izzie left Alex over a meager dispute after him sticking by her and giving her the big dream wedding and it turned out to be all worth nothing in the end. I know Grey’s isn’t real life, but to me their break-up seemed completely far-fetched and unrealistic, just so that Katherine Heigl could leave the show. You don’t break up like that after having been through what Alex and Izzie had been through. It ruined the Izzie-character for me: a character I had always liked throughout the show and that’s why in hindsight I would have preferred for the character to have been killed off at the beginning of season six.

I miss Izzie and Katie Heigl! However if she doesn't want to return to the show....then there's nothing anyone can do...at least Shonda didn't kill Izzie off, that would have been cruel after letting her survive all this while...

I think that they should either bring her back because Alex had no one else to get with, or kill her without having katherine heigl back on the show

I would love for Katherine to do a multi-episode arc this season, but not come back to the show. In a perfect world yes, I would love for Katherine to return to GA but I don't see that happening. I do feel that she owes Shonda and the fans a guest role to do closure since GA is what put her so far into her career. I love that Shonda left the role open in case Katherine does want to return to end her role with some closure. (I'm sure if Katherine had stayed to finish off season six, she would have been one of the shooting victims).
I really, really do hope that Katherine returns for some closure to her role. Even if it's a multi-episode arc that revolves around the remission of her cancer and she dies, at least it's better than nothing.

I've always wondered if the show might end with Alex going off to find Izzie and be with her again. Alex/Izzie was Shonda's goal all along, they can still make that happen even if Katherine doesn't come back.

I don't see Katherine ever wanting to come back. She has her movie career. I just think that is more important for her. It is also fairly obvious that she has wanted out for a long time.
I've never been the biggest fan of Izzie, but I have had my favorite character killed/written off, so I know how much that sucks. I feel for you guys.
And I don't know if I see a point revisiting the Izzie story line. Personally I really liked how they wrote her off. Alex's speech to her is one of my all time favorite Alex moments.

Alex should move on... Forget Izzie,.. lets imagine that Izzie is ok away from Alex and she sends the divorce papers.
Or,.. I'd create another storyline for ALex and his family and he fall in love with other gal, not April, Lexie or another doctor of the show. Maybe other girl from Joe's bar. In this show nobody has a lover who doesn't work in a hospital. What about the Sloan chick???

Here we go again should Izzie come back or not? (I feel like this debate will continue till the end of the series) The answer for me is it depends. If Alex is gonna be left hurting again then she shouldn't come back I just can't stand Alex being hurt again. I am glad she wasn't killed off because that would have been just cruel. People are entitled to have an opinion on a character but should be respectful about it and NOT MIX up the character and the actress because I feel like that's what's happening now.
I have no opinion on KH I don't judge ppl I don't know or hate on them. The decisions she made regarding GA weren't the best but I respect them people are different. But I loved Izzie and I thought AI were the epic couple. But now I just want proper closure between them because it isn't fair for the fans who loved Izzie and AI (It can be on or offscreen just get Alex to move on)

I would love to see Izzie come back to GA. She and Alex were fantastic together. I can't imagine him with anyone else. She was beautiful and classy much more so than April or Lexie. They are nothing compared to Izzie. I know that KH wanted off of the show but I was disappointed that Izzie did not stay and fight for Alex. He told her to leave and she just left. I think that Izzie needs to come back and fight for her man.

No more Izzy storylines please. No more KH on GA. The storylines have moved on, viewers (should have by now)moved on.
It was a huge mistake to have brought back the Denny character in S5. That was the beginning of the end of Izzy as we once loved her in previous seasons.
Just let it be!

i think the problem is that shonda wanted alex and izzie togehter in first place. they were "meant to be", she said that. and alex cant move on because he simply was meant to be with izzie. if i was shonda, i wouldnt want to give up my "dream" either ;) maybe there is a solution, i dont know...
and i just cant picture alex with anyone else...it would be interesting to see him with april, but it will never be as "intense" as it was with izzie. she was the love of his life. and he lost her. everybody who lost their real first love knows what i am talking about....sometimes people just cant move on, even if they try...
but its just my opinion ;)

I do not want her to come back. All Shonda needs to do is have Alex move on, not pretend that he has moved on, but actually move on.

Katherine Heigl herself admitted that she wanted out. Ungrateful at its best but I don't care about her anymore.
I don't care what the writers have to do but they have to let Alex move on. The whole lingering of Izzie has to come to an end and let Alex go. I rather have not her come back and spare the annoyance of having to see Izzie & April together, but IMO, it just has to be over. Death, appearance, whatever.

I don't know. I hated that they gave George's character "closure" by killing him off. I just loved that character. I loved Izzie, too, in the earlier seasons. I would've liked to see her story get closure in a more hopeful way than George's--for example, if she devoted her career to working with kids from Chehalis who wanted to become doctors someday, or if she went into teaching full-time. She was a phenomenal teacher. It really did feel rather abrupt having her take off all of a sudden.

hmm...i would love to have alex and izzie back together. but it seems there is just too much damage in their "relationship". she didnt even call after the shooting...i mean...the only thing i can think of is a "off screen" relationship. maybe they start writing letters or things like that...and then they decide to try it again with a long-distance relationship..i dont know, really. i think izzie cant be back as a "regular", because a lot of people got hurt by her...even though i think izzie never meant that, i mean cancer, georges death, suddenly a marriage...i would got nuts, too :)
maybe it would have been better to let her die. alex would be crushed, but as we know..life goes on.
maybe shonda gives us a miracle and gets alex and izzie back together in a way that is okay for everybody (without having her back really)

Well I can understand how some people think that there was no closure. Alex cried out her name in the season finale, so it basically opened that whole thing up again. But honestly, towards the end her story line was so repetitive and felt forced. She was an amazing character at the beginning but she fell behind just like burke and george. I think the best thing would be to leave it. Plus she already said she would not consider coming back. Or I think thats what she said please correct me if Im wrong.

First of all I would say: Katherine Heigl is a person entitled to do and speak what ever she wants.. she didn't want a full time affiliation with a Drama when she got other things in her life.. which absolutely make her made the choice and I respect her for that!(though wished she could have managed through all that staying in Grey's... but Oh well!)
As far as Izzie's comeback is concerned.. I want her back.. but Not rite now! I would rather have her back around Series Finale when the Original Characters ( YES I DARE TO SAY IT! THE four Out of Original 5 Interns!) get a Closure! (as 5th 's chapter is way Closed!) Although not counting upon it but it would be nice to see her ending up with Alex.. her true soulmate! One thing which was consistent through out the Grey's was the attraction between the two ( even with Denny and Ava thing in between)
Miss Izzie and KH like hell though! wish at some point this would happen!

while i love izzie, and izzie and alex together, i don't know why they say there was no closure. she left, they told us where she was heading, she was at the time in remission, and alex has signed divorce papers. clearly the "story" has wrapped, has an ending to it, just let it be... and if katherine heigl (who honestly i don't find that ungrateful, people want to do more than just one thing with their career) were open to coming back, i feel like bringing her back just to kill the character is kind of a bitch move on the shows part. let it be, be the bigger people and let the drama around it die off. characters should move on the same as a normal human being would. lets not bring all this bs around her exit back into the light to get some revenge on katherine heigl. its cruel, mainly to the people that loved a really well played character who has moved on with her life, as they all will eventually -- because honestly, after residency how many of them would hang around the same hospita

Im sorry but Katherine Heigl is so ungraful! She didn't even want to do one single episode to have a clousure to her story. At the end it turned out for the best. If Izzie were to come back Alex will probably go with her I don't want Alex to go. Alex deserve so much better...even if is that person is April.

She should definately not come back, Izzie is long gone. She was a great character but you could see through Katherine's acting she did not want to be there. Alex along with the rest of the show has almost moved on now, and he needs someone new and refreshing. It would not be the Izzie fans love coming back. She died with George in my opinion. If she really wanted to give her character closure she should have finished the story in Season 6, and gave closure and a good ending to the fans she had. I enjoy the show a lot more now without her is-she-isn't-she leaving saga. If she comes back now it would just be annoying and pointless plus she has no reason to go back. She has no friends there! She told Meredith she was just 'a person she worked with' and plys she divorced Alex. The only valid reason she would appear is if she got sick or hurt, and even then I doubt she would go to that hospital.

No, I think she should not come back. Izzie is gone. Maybe it was not the good way to end her story, but it would seem too forced to bring her back. And let Alex move on without her.
