Veteran actor Bob Newhart is coming to NCIS in January, according to EW, as Dr. Walter Magnus, described as a “shrewd, eccentric nostalgic” with a whole lot of charm.

Sounds a bit like David McCallum (Ducky). Fittingly, Bob's character is also a medical examiner, who comes out of retirement to relive the magic. Sounds like fun, no?

Until something unexpected catches the team by surprise, at least. Newhart's the latest of many great guest stars of late, notably Robert Wagner in this week's NCIS.
