Grey's Anatomy Review: "Something's Gotta Give"

at . Comments

Cristina and Callie got to spend some uber-quality time together in last night’s episode of Grey's Anatomy, "Something's Gotta Give.”

This is a whole new side of Cristina Yang and I’m not sure if I hate it or love it! Probably the best scene had to be Cristina cutting Callie’s hair.

The crazy look Callie had on her face when she saw the damage Cristina did was priceless. Seriously Callie, we know you're dealing with heartbreak, but c’mon! Letting a traumatized woman near your hair with a pair of scissors is a bit on the dim-witted side.

Oh Mark, You're So Silly

Hey, it could have been worse for Callie.

Wouldn’t you have realized it was a bad idea when Cristina came over to you and chopped off a bunch of hair without notice? Fortunately for Callie, her hair turned out super cute.

In any case, I thoroughly enjoyed watching these two women saunter the malls. Living in South Florida, it reminded me of home and how so many women spend their afternoons wasting their lives doing nothing but shopping. It truly is a wondrous scene (insert sarcasm here).

Back to the review. April and Alex made huge waves in the romance department. Or should I say non romance department? The sparks between these two have been building up and I knew someone was bound to happen, but I wasn’t expecting Alex to be such a huge d!ck.

I find Alex’s hot and cold personality to be rather annoying. One minute I love him for how he is to his patients and another I want to throw him overboard for being so crude.

I wish Shonda would just let us love him completely. All this baggage Alex carries is very unattractive, don’t you think? I guess I’m not attracted to the wounded puppy type.

Dr. Stark will be an interesting replacement for Arizona while she’s in Africa. I can see Dr. Stark playing a huge role in helping Alex realize he’s in the right field, but I miss Arizona.

She's perfect for Peds and Dr. Stark will forever be creepy to me thanks to Ghostbusters.

Bossing Around Karev

I wasn’t a fan of the whole political surgery plotline. I understand there was a reason for having Teddy and Derek work together, but other than that, what really was the point? Did anyone else see something going on between Teddy and the government agent?

Maybe a future romance could blossom here? I find that very doubtful.

My heart broke a little when Bailey told the Chief about how much she needed a win. Even though these last couple losses haven’t been her fault, I could see how she would take it all personally. Yang is her student and out of all the students, no one would have ever guessed that she would be the one to quit, including Bailey.

I do like Jackson and Bailey working together. I foresee that Jackson will be able to learn a lot from Bailey and who knows? Maybe she’ll get that win that after all.

Lastly, I'm confused by the whole Lexie-Mark situation. Rather, the nonexistent situation. What’s going on with them? Why are they showing attraction for other people?

Lexie and Jackson would make a beautiful pairing, but Mark is her lobster! Ugh. I hate having to wait around for everyones happily ever afters to begin! At least, from the last couple episodes, life’s been pretty smooth sailing for Derek and Meredith. Sigh.

Fingers are most definitely crossed that this will continue.

From the previews, next week’s episode looks wicked awesome. Until then, I leave you with a few of my favorite Grey’s Anatomy quotes from last night:

Bailey: I could use a win, that's all. Yang. Yang was the one I didn't have to worry about.
Chief: I know. I know. | permalink
Meredith: Every pressurized system needs a relief valve. There has to be a way to reduce the stress, the tension, before it becomes too much to bare. There has to be a way to find relief because if the pressure doesn't find a way out, it will make one. It will explode. It's the pressure we put on ourselves that's the hardest to bare. The pressure to be better then we already are. The pressure to be better than we think we can be. It never ever lets up. It just builds and builds and builds. | permalink
Cristina: If you are here for the party then you are way too early.
Derek: I'm not here for the party. | permalink
Derek: (about Cristina) I'm sorry. I have a personal stake here too. I wouldn't be standing here if it wasn't for her. | permalink
Lexie: (to Alex) Ouch! Okay since when is it okay to shoot people in this hospital? | permalink
Bailey: You know the first rule of residency: Eat when you can, sleep when you can, and don't screw with the pancreas. | permalink
Callie: Look at my hair!
Cristina: Yeah I sorta can't believe you let me do that.
Callie: Cristina!
Cristina: That's okay. We'll go to the mall. You might want a hat. | permalink
Bailey: Who's in there?
Jackson: Is it the President? Vice President? Bono?
Bailey: Bono!? | permalink
Chief: From a global perspective, it would be great if he didn't die. | permalink
Callie: Oh my God! What are you doing! Are you insane!?
Cristina: Let's make lemonade. | permalink
Callie: (to Cristina) Hey! This is disturbing. Stop! | permalink
Alex: What happens in Vegas, ya know? | permalink
Meredith: The human body is a highly pressurized system. The blood pressure measures the force of blood pulsating through the arteries. It's important to keep this pressure regulated. Low or inadequate pressure can cause weakness or failure. It's when the pressure gets too high that problems really occur. If the pressure continues to increase, a closer examination is called for. Because it's the best indicator that something is going terribly wrong. | permalink

@Katie - What's wrong with you??? All I am saying is there is NO EXCUSE to treat someone the way Alex treated April. I'm sorry, but just because he came from a broken home and has gone through some whacked up sh*t in his life, doesn't give him a pass to be an a$$hole. Regardless of how old April is and how she's "big enough to know better", Alex was a jerk. End of discussion.

@Kerri- I totally agree with you. Mer has like NO place in this show anymore. It's all Yang and really no one else. I am still upset that they have not made a bigger deal about losing the baby. :( I really thought Derek would have at least been mad or cried...but NOTHING. :D

You know whose story line is the best Mer's o wait she doesn't have one huh maybe they should just rename the show Yang's Anatomy

alex dint deserve the beating from jackson...did he force himself on he promise her a future did he manipulate her like sloan would do to other was just upfront about it...and he was the first to get out of bed.....what is jackson trying to prove??that he is a feminist???couple of episodes ago, he tried charming altman to into doing a surgery, which she confronted....he's no hero, he's just a spoon fed baby...i recommend to the writers to take a bigger stance...dont treat all your viewers like they are 16 year old girls, who would be charmed by old ,MARK!!!

I enjoyed most of the episode. I do like that the spotlight was somewhat on Dr. Altman this week. Maybe the political patient was to introduce a possible new love interest for her - Ronald Lace. I did see the chemistry between them and there was really no reason to have that scene between them at the end. A message could've been delivered to Dr. Weber if that was the case. If so, I do like that he isn't a doctor but obviously a man in a very powerful position in the state department. Alex - he is who is he and I love that he really doesn't change for anyone. No matter how crass or insensitive he can be, he always manages to endear himself to me because he can talk to Meredith about the personal things in his life. He wasn't very nice to April, but if she wants to lose her virginity it shouldn't be in the on-call room. Jackson stood up for her and that was good. Christina and Derek on the roof...These two have connected. Saving somebody's life will do it. They are bonded forever. Now Derek has become her fiercest advocate and protector. I do believe she will operate again and he will lead her back to the O.R.

I think it was a fun episode though the whole Middle east thing was over the board and crappy... didn't make sense at all... Christina and Callie were fun and the most Shocking event was Alex storm out on half naked April... that was just too much to even write on paper and then conduct... seriously c'mon it was too much... I was stunned! :-O poor April.
P.S I m waiting for gorgeous Rachel Taylor, Jackson love interest. bring her soon C'mon sondha!

I didn't love this episode. Psychotic Christina just doesn't do it for me at all. I think she's a parody of her former self now. It's over the stop. It's like watching a train about to crash and I definitely have the power to look away. I didn't too much care for the political patient either, but I thought something was going on between Teddy and the government agent. I love Teddy's character, I think she deserves to be in a stable relationship. Owen is on my last nerve. He can't slap his own wife and tell her to snap out of it. He has to have Meredith run interference? Seriously, Owen needs to go all PTSD on her and show her what it really means to be shell shocked. Jackson beating the mess out of Alex was the best part of the show. Alex was a big jerk to April and I love Jackson's rage when he saw Alex and felt he had to defend her honor. He's like the big brother you never had. Derek and Christina was really stupid. Let's talk about furniture and housing instead of the real issue? Since when do men do that. Men are fixers they wouldn't have tolerated that kind of conversation for two seconds.

alex is a completely jerk!! i felt sorry for him about all the surgery and ping-pong ball stuff and then he did that!! poor april... and jackson you're nice but lexie&mark are perfect to each other. love this episode!

@katie....glad you said that abt alex....coz people who hated april until yesterday, are feeling sorry for her...well i've got news people...april might be a virgin but she is also old enough to make her own decision...she's not some stoned chick to be manipulated easily....he asked to stop, but she said she dint wanna stop....after that it was just alex bursting out, its got nothing to do with april...i'd say he dint even deserve the beating from jackson.... why did jackson even beat him up???did u guys ever think about it???is it becoz alex dint sleep with april???or he coz he said she was naive???i dont get it...jackson told april not to go there..he should be happy that it dint happen...if you remember the show, alex got out of the bed first... from the episode, all i can make out is jackson wanted alex to sleep with april...AM I RIGHT PEOPLE...HAHAHAHA

How great was that Jackson stood up for April?
I think that was the best part of the episode u.u
