Grey's Anatomy > Grey's Anatomy: Boring Without MerDer Conflict? > Comments Page 3
And something funny...watch the recent entry blogs...this one has the most comments in the shortest time. I guess no matter how much anyone loves another couple, M/D will have always a central piece. Funny.
You all are funny. You think ya have problems. My favorite couple the one took off to africa. And the other one that (we thought was in love with her) Couldn't keep her scrubs on and slept with a freakin idiot manwhore. Whoever is writting this crap. Needs to go and take a lesson in creative writting. Cause they think anytime they don't know what to do with one of there actors. They throw them into bed with someone. Jcap is gone 2 eppy's and they had to break up and Callie sleep with Mark. It is just stupid. Why not have Jcap go home cause one of her parent died or something anything besides the break up and Callie acting like a moran. As for MerDer, EP has already said she is only contracted till season 8 and she isn't going to renew her contract after season 8. And PD said the same, he wants to have more time for his racing and to do other things. Shonda said she is trying to have other actors come in and fill the void when they are gone. Cause she said she would like to see the show
I don't care how of loyal fan I am, I am a loyal fan of PD, EP, & SO. So if they leave, won't doubt that I will. For a lot of people (I suggest everyone to take a walk in the writer's blog), M/D are vital to the show and what they bring, which in this season is nothing.
I don't see anything in the M/D front, anything. There is no story. No continuation, nothing. Their story was once the central story of the show...now is nothing.
I have no interest in watching the horrible treatment of the six originals after EP calls it quits. Teddy has more of a story than the central characters. Jackson's PTSD is treated more than Derek's, who should have his treated as well. The miscarriage was dropped as it if meant nothing. How can that happen? How does SR allow it?
i can't even recall the countless times people on this fan site have asked for more good and happy merder moments. i don't think that the lack of conflict makes for boring tv- i think we would be just as happy to actually get to see them happy. and not just for 3 minutes of air time.
I love the show the way it is. I think not having everything centered around MerDer makes me miss them more. The show has to center on the other characters for it to stay fresh and keep ppl interested. I like MerDer. But I'm in love with Calzona. I'm loving their storyline. The ups, downs, sideways all of it. And yes I am a lesbian. I appreciate Shonda for creating their story and representing me in some way. And I thank Sara for volunteering herself to be a part of this love story. So yes for me I am in Heaven.
With that being said I also love the attention Christina is getting. Her story drags along but I'm loving seeing Sandra's acting. She deserves it.
Im also enjoying Mark. Glad to see he's back with Lexie. Hoping they can work it out.
I know I'm in the minority but I also like Teddy, Jackson,April, and Alex.
Bailey rules, enough said LOL
I'm a fan no matter what but this season I am happy. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts. CALZONA FOREVER!!!!
I don't see MerDer as boring at all. I love seeing them settled together. They're marriage is a friendship and that's fantastic. Their relationship being settled allows them to be more involved with the other characters, and other stories. I love watching Derek be there for Christina. Especially, considering that they've never been too fond of one another. The tension between Meredith and Owen is very compelling as well. I'm not sure where it's going to lead, but I'm excited to find out. It is tough to watch Mer and Christina be so distant but it's interesting to see both be in positions that neither can help the other with. Calzona is awesome!! The character of Karev has developed tremendously. I used to hate him, now I can't imagine an episode without him. Peter MacNicol is great because he's a way bigger ass than Karev, and it makes me love Karev more. I love Lexie. I just do. I love everything about her. As much as I want her to be with Sloan, I kind of want her to hook
@ Neko. Grey's Anatomy refers to the character Meredith Grey and the anatomy of her life as a surgical resident. Gray's Anatomy is the medical text book med students use for anatomy lectures. Shonda used a pun for her title. The title has nothing to do with Baileys interns. Get ur facts str8 b4 you make Opinions.
OMG people everyones character favorites are a matter of opinion. NOT EVERYONE that loves the show, and is a fan of the show has to be a fan of Mer/Der. One of the main reasons the show is so popular is because there are so many different personalities, and theres literally someone for every type of person to love. No one is right or wrong over the other. If someone things Meredith is boring they are entitled to it, just like if someone thinks that Meredith is the star and best part of the show they are entitled to that. Meredith USED to be the center of the show yes, but they are weening her from that because Ellen Pompeo has made it very clear in numerous interview(google it) that she most likely will NOT continue after 8 seasons, while SHONDA has made it very clear, that she DOES want to continue the show even after main characters may leave.
I have been a VERY VERY loyal fan since DAY 1 pilot episode, and I am too loyal of a fan to stop watching just because Mer, Der, or even
I think this is a great show. Even if the core couple have been relegated to the background, it just allows other characters to flower and come into their own, eg. Callie. I thought she was a silly addition in Season 2, but she surprised me! I am actually glad that the MerDer situation is not volatile, as in, I really would not want to see them squabble, there are like meant to be together forever, and a miscarriage should not be the cause for separation(it was not Mer's fault, although I agree she should have told him long ago).I think such a situation should only bring a couple more close to each other, rather than drive a wedge between them.
@sara : I'm not saying i know better than everybody what a good character is or is not. I am just saying, that meredith had never been interesting for me. So, the show is called Grey's anatomy as a reference to the medical book. The story is not "about" her but about the 5 "students" of Bailey and how they will succeed (or not, sorruy georges and izzy) ! The show would have been quite the same without her (for me it would have been better but that's no main opinion here) !
neko blahh than you don't know what an interesting character is. If she was perfect from the begining and MerDer got together from the start without drama than what GA would be like lol?
How can they ever kill Meredith Grey, the lead character and the true Grey? She's the center of the show even if they didn't show it like that lately.
Meredith has never been an interesting character of this show. She's so boring as the couple she forms with McDreamy (ON/OFF/ON/OFF/DEAD/ALIVE/HOUSE/NOHOUSE/POSTIT/BABY/NOBABY).
I think that we will see an angry christina soon, angry about how meredith deals with the christinagate ! that will be mer major storyline of season 7 !
I wish the shooter killed meredith ...
@User I don't think he knows. I wish she'll tell him in 7x11.
But ofcourse, if they every quarrel, it's best tht it's not too long. Cause it is totally unbearable to see them at logger heads too. And! Does Derek even know about mer sacrificing herself?? That's unfair if he doesn't!
I agree that it's disappointing because they're not focusing on merder! I want them to have like quarrels here and there that'll lead to hot make up sex. We have been missing those super sweet moments with merder alr!! NEED some of that!!
One more thing...what ever happened to the "Sex crazed McDreamy?"
I feel very happy with the way they've handled MerDer this season, and am very pleased to see them as a happy couple. The writers have put them through so much, and I know they will be endgame regardless. It's all right to let other characters share the spot light.
I agree that what most MerDer fans are looking for is not really conflict and drama between Meredith and Derek. We just want to see more happen between these two rather than just their simple bed in the start and end of each episode with regards to Cristina. I don't wanna see them fight anymore but I definitely wanna see them develop more as a couple. Just because they're not dramatic doesn't mean they shouldn't get their airtime.
No way, I think the show is greeat this season, even though there's a lack of MerDer.
I feel it's complete.
Screw boring, it's downright pathetic. This couple once brought what made this show brilliant. Now it's hard to get them onscreen together having a single talk. All of their stuff is dismissed. Miscarriage? Meh, happens. Next! Hostile Uterus? Bummer...what else? Alzheimer's? Sad...Look! Calzona is fighting.
Conflict doesn't mean drama over breaking up, it means a story that has a meaning. All they are now is foil to other people. There is no continuation on any story. There's not even a story!
Happy isn't boring. Conflict isn't breaking up. Look it up on the dictionary of television writers. It can be done.
S7 is not better. Better than S6? Yes but not better overall.
I'm just grateful the show is still going and majority of the characters are the same. I like Grey's Anatomy, and I won't stop watching it due to the lack of conflict. I like the cast, the writers, the theme, etc. Bloody hell, I like it all. Granted, the Denny-Ghost thing was jumping the shark, however, those were hallucinations of her cancer that had affected her brain. I know that is not relevant to the article, but I'm just pointing out that no matter what, I'll always be watching.

I am fine with "boring" MerDer - they have definitely had their fair share of drama on the show (I mean, Addison showed up, they had a bomb scare, Meredith almost drowned, they had prom sex, and they broke up twice all within the course of her intern year) and if happiness means no drama, then so be it. That said, I expected a more emotional response from Derek about the miscarriage.
Generally, in each episode Derek and Meredith have at least one "aww" moment and that's enough for my fix. I do hope that we'll explore Meredith's infertility issues and Derek's grant research further and I believe it will happen once the current story lines run their courses.
I do not think it has been boring. I like that there are no big conflicts between Mer\Der. We have had conflict. Let them deal with being married and what comes with marriage. I am sure that there is a reason why we are having Cristina's character dealing with post traumatic stress disorder and I am sure that soon Meredith will be showing signs of PTS. I just want to see who is going to be there for Meredith. It's going to be Derek or Christina? I just want to see who is going to step up the plate. Meredith has been there for her friends so I want to see who is going to be there for her.
I'm happy with season 7 so far. But I just want Meredith to snap. That's it. I want her to have a good old fashioned breakdown. Because seriously? The way she's been acting is just...weird. I get that she's all bright and shiny now, but come on. Even the writers have hinted time and again that she's not dealing with her trauma, etc. I think the ramifications of the shooting is far from being a closed book in her case.
