Ryan Devlin Previews Brothers & Sisters Future

Ryan Devlin is an ABC guest starring jack of all trades.

The Cougar Town and Grey's Anatomy vet has now landed on Brothers & Sisters as a love interest for Calista Flockhart's Kitty - and it's not just a midlife crisis fling.

Ryan, 30, recently spoke to E! Online about what we can expect from his character when the program returns January 2. Excerpts from the actor's interview below ...

Ryan Devlin and Calista Flockhart

Avert your eyes, Harrison ... you too, Mrs. Devlin.

On working with the acclaimed Brothers & Sisters cast: It's a dream cast to work with and they truly are a family. We shoot these epic family dinner scenes that'll take 15 hours. Seriously, 15 hours for one scene, and it's a little intimidating to jump into that fray.

On meeting an acting legend: The first time I met Sally Field I was shooting a scene where I dump two giant sodas on her. I'm like, ‘Hi, I'm Ryan. You've won two Oscars. Now I'm going to bomb you with Pepsi.' Yikes! Fortunately she took it like a champ.

On his character, Seth, and his connection with Kitty: Seth is pretty much the polar opposite of what Kitty should be attracted to. But fortunately that doesn't deter her from responding to my advancements. What could just be a shallow fling might evolve into something deeper. There's serious chemistry... but potential for even more.

On interacting with the clan aside from Kitty: I'm thrown into the Walker family fray at some point. This is probably the strongest storyline I've had the honor of playing, which is saying a lot because I've been given some really meaty roles.

On his current ABC streak, with B&S, Grey's Anatomy and Cougar Town roles: I'm definitely having a good run on ABC right now! It's never a bad year when you can call Busy Philipps, Mandy Moore and Calista Flockhart your on-screen squeezes.

Juggling the different roles simultaneously has been a bit interesting. About a month ago I was filming Cougar Town in the morning then rushing to Grey's Anatomy during the afternoon. Going from cracking jokes to crying my eyes out was definitely a challenge.

On what can viewers look forward to in future B&S episodes: Lots and lots of kissing. My apologies in advance to my wife and Harrison Ford.

Brothers & Sisters Quotes

No, no. No 'Buts'. You're not allowed to give up. You're not allowed to give up because you believe in your gut that this is right. And besides, we've all inherited this absurd drive to make things that, that yes, they seem complicated and they're messy, but we can turn them into something great.
