Taylor Momsen: Legally an Adult at 17?
Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen has been known to flash her nearly bare breasts in concert, smoke, wear little more than underwear, make provocative statements and so on.
That's not a commentary, it's just the truth. People love her or hate her, it seems. Either way, she's her own girl/woman, a fact that's legally true, per N.Y. State law.
In the same interview in which she apologized to her folks for previous comments she made about her attitude, she says that despite being 17 (until July), she’s a legal adult.

Asked if her parents are required to go on tour with her because of her young age, Momsen replied, "No, I’m a legal adult. Whatever that means." We don't really get it either, T.
"I graduated high school two years early, so I’m responsible for myself under some weird New York law." We just passed this along because it's interesting. We have no point.

You are right, that is interesting. I wonder how that law applies, and where it applies. If it's just in New York, I guess it's another reason to love that city. :)
