I thought it was good! Callie sang great! Maybe a little less song would've been a little better. It wasn't as bad as everyone else says.

This is the only show I tape every week! I thought the season finale from last season dealing with the gun violence towards hospital personel was very disturbing so I almost stopped watching completely. I decided to give this year another chance but it has been less and less appealing. The recent "music video" episode was horrible! Ok, now I know some of the actors also have singing abilities, but the music did not enhance the story line at all. I just fast-forwarded through the music. Please get rid of the trite "whining" between the main characters and add some gripping episodes dealing with their patients.

This episode was crap. What a waste! I had to fast forward through every song. It was ridiculous!

The musical episode was the worst greys anatomy has ever done before, and I love the show, but lately I think it really is bad, plus I am sick of callie, arizona story since when did the become core characters.

First when I heard they are doing a musical episode I was a little sceptical..but I kind was looking forward to it. While watching the epi I sometimes thought wtf? Some songs just seemed very forced and did not fit that well (English is not my mother language so maybe I did not understand the meaning of some of the songs).Anyway, watching it a second time and listen more carfully to the diaologues it made much more sense to me..there has been some really good scences and JCap just rocked this whole thing. I'm not that huge fan of merder but the elevator scence was very touching and it gave me goose bumps...never thought this would happen (In my opinion it saved a little of the episode and especially the SL around it).I loved The Story by Callie but she was singing it to herself in order to wake up right? I think it would have been much more emotional and appropriate if she sang it to zona. All in all the epi had really great potential and the story line would have been very meaningful

Someone posted a while back about the helicopter landing pad scene being so poorly shot. It was so obvious it was on a blue screen, the director should be embaressed.
KmK voice was awful, a Scotsman trying to sound American in his singing, terrible. It'll be intersting to see if Broadway offers him a musical! Wise Patrick for refusing to sing, although Ellen's voice was fine. They obviously needed more male voices so we saw nurse Eli and Mr Altman who had NOTHING to do with the episode, only in Callie's mind

I hope SR has got her experimantal episodes phase out of her system, and we never have to sit through a musical episode again

Everytime they sang I wanted to jump out the window... The singing was completely out of place and took away from the drama in the show... Garbage!!! Soo much garbage!!! Omg I never blog about anything but this has really struck a cord, I am not over this!! Please someone tell me this isn't permanent!!!

  8. Jen

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! PERIOD! DONT EVER DO THIS AGAIN!!!!

Normally I don't post on sites like this, but I HAD to state my opinion....I think the musical event was great! I absolutely LOVED it. I really don't understand why some people have had such negative things to say? I would understand if they never did another music event, but I must say this one was awesome and well executed!!

Plus, its a really nice nod to Sara after her Tony win. IF the girl can sing, let's let her sing!!

I agree that you have to have a certain taste. But I LOVED it. Its nice to see something a little different, and this is one show that is constantly shaking things up. I can't say that they should do this every week, but it was nice to see them go outside of the box a little. Do the unexpected. My husband sat beside me during the previous episode during Arizona's proposal and said "they're gonna crash." So if they were getting THAT predictable, they had to shake it up. He certainly didn't predict the singing. I had been looking forward to this episode, and I wasn't disappointed.

This episode did a disservice to Grey's Anatomy. It is good to be creative, but this is overdoing it and was not making the show better. Rather, it made it ridiculous and cheesy.

I've been a die-hard Grey's fan since the beginning but I did not like this episode at all. The sad part is that it could have been a really, really great episode but the singing was so cheese-ball and distracting that I literally cringed. Grey's...please...don't do this again. We love you just the way you were!

    should *NOT coexist

I do not hate musicals and I simply love Grey's Anatomy. However, the two should coexist. I understand taking a creative approach, but I enjoy my Grey's characters. I've watched the show since the first season. I do not enjoy these characters singing. I was honestly uncomfortable. I watched it with my mom, I covered my face half of the time, because I was so embarrassed to even be witnessing this atrocity, while my mother seemed to laugh about it ( although I think she really liked it).
This was such an important episode. I would have rather have seen real acting and real connecting between the characters. This was clearly a ploy to boost sales from iTunes. And it is true: not everyone watches Glee. I watch Grey's. And this sort of blew major bad television.

I COULDN'T BELIEVE I HAD THE RIGHT CHANNEL ON. REALLY LAME FOR PRODUCERS WHO NORMALLY DO SUCH A TERRIFIC JOB. I HAVE WATCHED THE SHOW SINCE THE BEGINNING AND LOVE IT BUT THIS BROKE MY HEART. YOU COULD HAVE DONE SO MUCH MORE IF YOU HAD LEFT THE MUSIC OUT AND LET THE ACTORS SPEAK. YOU HAVE A GREAT CAST BUT THEY ARE ACTORS, NOT SINGERS. I AM HOPING THIS WAS JUST A ONE TIME THING OR I WILL FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO FILL THE SPOT. PLEASE DON'T RUIN MY FAVORITE SHOW. REMEMBER, NOT EVERYONE LIKES "GLEE"

  18. maureen

Callie's part singing was great but STOP there it got out of control, cheesy Glee!!!!

I have to wonder if the producers are trying to kill the show. The musical concept was just plain dumb. The car wreck involved major characters in a serious situation and the musical treatment simply diminished the drama - but more important, it bored the heck out of the audience. I lasted about 15 minutes with it before I switched over to another show on my DVR. The show is sorta on the 2nd strike with me now and it has been one of my favorites for years.

Amazingly creative. Shonda does it again. Sara, Chyler, Justin, Chandra are all remarkable singers. I especially liked the musical scenes when Callie was looking over herself being worked on by the other doctors. When the doctors started singing out of the blue, it didn't work as well. The scene between Meredith and Derek in the elevator was heart wrenching, honest and so moving. Yes, I think Teddy’s reaction was irrational. She didn't even question Cristina about the procedure, but rejected it outright. Love GA. Shonda tries different things. As a fan, I am with you. Love a creative person willing to try things and not sit on their laurels. While the whole show did not hit 100%, about 75% did. I just have to find time this weekend to wait this episode again on the Net. Thanks Shonda.

You definitely have to have the right personality to appreciate this episode. I absolutely loved everything about it, as did most people that I've talked to,but one sister thought it was "corny." I was excited to find the soundtrack on iTunes:)

  22. Bob

Positively the worst episode ever! A piece of crap! Had to leave the room several times ... just could not take any more!

  23. tiduspr

Amazing episode. Musicals are not for everybody, and a lot of the people that do not like people bursting into song in the middle of a scene are just going to completely hate it.

As far as I'm concerned though; ever since the Danny ghost thing i've had mixed opinions about the show; i couldn't stand the whole Danny ordeal, or the fact that it turned Izzie (for me at least) from a great character into an unbearable one. However, this episode felt fresh. Sara's singing is amazing and I was really upset about Callie. Nice change of pace. And even though I was expecting her to get better; it felt so good that she actually did.

thumbs up, from me. best singers: Sara, of course and Chandra.

  24. Serenity

This episode was by no means terrible or bad. You may not personally like something but that doesnt make it bad. Artistically speaking, it was rather good though they werent the best singers.

I dont understand when everything that had to do with music automatically became glee. Im sorry maybe at 22 i am a little older than most of you because in my lifetime, xena, hercules, scrubs, buffy, simpsons as well as many other hit shows had at least 1 musical episode just as a treat and to get away from the norm.

Those who claim to never watch greys anatomy every again after this episode is full of bologna. If that is how you felt, you wouldnt have finished the rest of this episode. I am willing to bet all of those people will be curled up in a ball with a box of tissue waiting to see what happens next week.

Its called fun, have a little of it. It will hardly kill you.

  25. Mike

C'mon guys, you need to be open-minded about this. sure they're not all exactly singing sensations, but you have to admit Sara Ramirez killed this episode. Great voice, great performance. And yeah Kevin McKidd's voice isn't exactly easy on the ears but musically he hit every note spot on. I kinda think they butchered "How To save a Life" however, but you have to admire the audacity and hard-work put into this. 4/5 for me.
