Pretty Little Liars Season Finale Review: That Was It?!?

at . Comments

"For Whom the Bell Tolls" had a lot of exciting and thrilling scenes that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Still, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed by the season finale. The show has made it a habit to give a few answers just to take them away again. Remember Spencer and the hotel room? Or how about the trophy incident? The same thing happened this week, even though the promos suggested some real revelations. A is always a hundred steps ahead of these girls and it’s getting a little ridiculous.

So, after months of speculation and hours of entertaining teenage angst, what do we know?

Well... Ian killed Allison and videotaped all the girls, including Jenna - and that’s about it. Everything else that happened this week just raised more questions. To be fair, some interesting information was revealed about Jenna, Ian, and newcomer Officer Garrett. HOWEVER, nothing was really resolved.

Ian’s dead, but then he’s really not. At the very least, this one loose end should have been tied up. Now Ian will haunt the series like a bad horror movie villain, never dying, and always ready to pop out from behind a dark corner to scare the girls. Just like Mike Myers or Jason. I think we have enough mysterious, hooded figures on the show.

The Jenna and Garrett thing also felt a little too convenient. We just met him a few episodes ago, but it turns it out he’s a major conspirator on Jenna’s behalf. Does he know what’s on the video that she desperately needs back? Does he know she was forcing Toby to have sex with her and lying about it? It definitely seems like the kind of information that would kill a relationship.

Luckily, he didn’t recover the flash drive, but then, who did? If Ian had it in his pocket, he could still have it or A might have taken it. See what I mean about all the new questions?

Other than Ian, Jenna revealed that her part in this mystery is really all about self-preservation. Her new version of the story of Ali’s visit made more sense given what we know about Ali, and her relationship with Garrett seems particularly useful for her needs. I’m guessing she’s has no real connection to Ian because Ian seemed to know A and neither she nor Garrett could have been in that bell tower. We’ll find out how the Jenna-Garrett angle plays out next season.

In other news, it was great to see Lucas come back as our hero. Disregarding Mona’s “generous” offer to transform into someone cooler, he picked up Caleb so that he and Hanna could resolve their problems. It's still sad that he can't be a romantic interest for her, but I was glad to see him again.

Emily’s moving to Texas for a year, which could prove detrimental to all of her relationships (both old and new) and make A’s harassment a little more difficult. The long distance probably won’t keep her out of danger, but we might get a little less Emily in the future, which is kind of a relief. Her plot lines have been kind of slow lately.

Aria’s little tantrum over Ezra’s ex showing up at the faculty mixer was just ridiculous. Just when she starts to act like a mature adult, she ruins it with petty jealousy. They were finally free to date openly (at least until her father finds out) and she had to create drama. It’s true that unexpectedly seeing your boyfriend’s ex is alarming, but her accusations were a little extreme.

This was an entertaining, although somewhat unsatisfying, finale to the show. Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long for the new season (June!) and, hopefully, for some more answers.

What did you think of what we learned?

I Think It Was A Good Episode...But I wasn't Satisfaitee By THIS! Sooo Just saying You could Do Better!

A is Allison. The dead girl is Allison's twin sister,Courtney who escaped from the recovery center and took Ali's life.Courtney arranged this change of lifes,so Ali was trapped in that center, meanwhile Courtney was acting like Ali.As a revenge, the real Ali escapes from the center and kills Courtney, and menace the other 4 girls.Close to the end,it reveals that Ali killed Ian,Toby,Jenna and kidnapped Melissa. The 4 girls go to an old house where they suppose find Ali.There start a fire, and they suppose that Ali died.but the police find a body of another girl. However, personally i didn't understood the end.this is the story from the book:)

Allison is 'A' no doubt that

Hey guess what? Ali killed ali! Ok so the body they found was her twin sisters body! Ali pushed her into the hole cause. She was taking over her life!!!!

i think da killer is jena bcoz she acts all supsipious n i bet she is not really blind

Have you noticed the night when ali was supposably killed spencer didnt even bother to wake up the girls before going at to check and see where ali went. So mabey she was new something was going to happen to her that night and was wittenessing what had happened to her but was threatened not to tell anyone.Another thing i noticed is that where they llive there is like no laws and the police are very lazy. How could they let people get away with boguarding into someone elses house. And anyway the girls need to get a security system and close their windows so A wont be able to spy on them without getting caught.

Oh yah about the 1st one i meant he said, "Hey, What are you doing?!" Is it me or did it look like he knew the person. I have a few more things to add - I don't think that Melissa had anything to do with it. I think she just lied because she didn't want to loose Ian. He probably told her a lie to get her to go along with it. -Think to yourself, who has motive to get back at the girls. Jenna would be too obvious Don't make your final predictions yet. We may get to meet new characters in season 2. We might even get to learn more about the character we already know about. I hope to find out more about Naomi and Riley (remember in Mona's b'day episode when she was telling Hanna About the rumor. They were those 2 girls) Thanks for listening!

I have a few things to say,
-I think that Ian knew who "A" was. At the end when a came out the way he sounded made me suspicious and gave me the feeling he knew who it was
-Melissa lied about being at the hotel with Ian, she can's not remember where the ocean was.
-Last thing, I don't think Noel is "a". Right now he has no motive (not that we know of) to have done it before the "Mr Fitz and Aria" accident. Also yall think it was him cuz u saw him in da crowd. He wouldn't have enough time to get out change and have time to get back cuz A was wearing black and he was wearing a denim jacket.
- "A", I think, is a girl because of the way she texts. Most girls say b*tches often like the way A does. I would know, I'm a girl

Ian's body disappearing was so predictable. He's definitely dead. A got rid of him because he was getting to be a nuisance, always acting out on his own. then A got rid of his body to keep matters under control. Imagine what would have happened if the body was discovered. The police would have assumed Spencer killed him. Then things would have gotten really messy. I still think A is a team of people with an ulterior motive than just torturing them. There is no way one person has that much time and power to be in multiple places at once accomplishing different things. Always texting the girls at all the right times. I bet it's some human trafficking group or something. Why else spy on pretty girls? The writers better have a darn good explanation for who A is and why they're doing what they're doing. and it better be something big or I'm gonna be pissed that they drew it out too long. other predictions:
- Melissa's baby is dead, effectively erasing Ian from their lives
- Paige is involved with A
- Caleb will officially become one of the girls. he'll help them fight A and turn on the offensive
- Lucas and Ezra may join the team as well
- I think season 2 in general will be about starting to fight A back with the help of the people they've confided in
- hopefully they will reveal at least 1 face of A's team curious questions:
what happened to that guy who collected Mrs. Potter's money? I bet he's part of A.

DID nobody see what I wrote? A acts like ALLISON. Maybe A IS Allison. I doubt A could be anybody else! I think Allison is still around. How do we know for sure she is dead? And in the books Allison has a twin who (hearsay; haven't actually read these books) switched places and got to know the group of four just to mess with them.. And maybe Allison wasn't really killed, but her sister was. So.. somebody please reply- do we really know conclusively that Allison is dead? Was her body found? (I thought it was never found.) Any thoughts on why A can't be Allison? I think the reason they get all chills when they get texted by A is because they sound like Allison. I also think the actress who plays Allison is the most interesting of all of them.. I wish she was in the show way more.. I only watch it to see more glimpses of her, in the hope she will finally show up. She is a force of nature and I think the writers were stupid not to include her more in the show or have her show up halfway thru season one. She is what keeps it going.. Thoughts?
