What's Up Next on Criminal Minds?

by at . Comments

Wow. That sums up the reaction to last week's Criminal Minds, for better and for worse.

After bidding farewell to A.J. Cook and Paget Brewster - the latter in what really felt like a season finale Wednesday - how does the show pick up on March 30?

“We are all reeling, and yet, there is work to be done, and there’s a case we need to summon our professionalism for and dive into,” Thomas Gibson (Hotch) says.

Gibson in last week's powerful and controversial episode, "Lauren."

“We have a community who needs us, and they need us no less in that particular moment in our family’s history, no less than they would in any other moment. I think as the unit chief, [Hotch] is trying to keep everybody focused and keep himself on track as well."

"It’s something that obviously could be a cause for collapse," Gibson tells Entertainment Weekly, "but there’s simply too much at stake to let that happen.”

As chief and backbone of BAU, Gibson says Hotch takes his role even more seriously as the loss of Emily Prentiss threatens to briefly derail them.

“She feels like one of the essential limbs of the team, and now that limb has been cut off and they are missing it and missing her. They very acutely feel the loss,” he says.

“I think, at that point, he doesn’t have internal dialogue about that. I think the internal dialogue needs to take place, and it will take place at an appropriate time and moment, but it should not take away from the time the team is needed and when they need him.”

“There are going to be repercussions emotionally, and it’s not going to be easily digested and moved on from.”

While Cook and Brewster are gone, if not forgotten, Rachel Nichols (Seaver) is here to say.

Is there a chance she and Matthew Gray Gubler's Reid might forge a romantic connection?

Probably not, says the actor, who seems to have other ideas for a Reid love interest:

“I think Reid’s girl would be more of a champion knitter. I think he would fall in love with someone who couldn’t kick down a door. He’d be happy with a masseuse, or a woman who makes candles, or a champion yodeller. Oh, or a Himalayan Sherpa,” says MGG.

“Someone from the Himalayan mountains would be his dream girl.”

Well, there you have it. Tough luck, Seaver.

Thank goodness they're not hooking up Reid and Seaver. I'm not a Seaver hater, I'm ok with her character, as long as they don't hook her up with anyone from the team. The last thing I want to see on CM is an office romance.

Marc Do you know what the FBI stand for?

A note for the CBS genius who destroyed Criminal Minds: I am not watching another episode until you restore the team!
Please bring back JJ and Prentiss, and get rid of Seaver and Ian, and please don't write stories about international espionage and terrorism, which have little to do with the FBI.

I know most fans are hating on Seaver, I am too... but it's not because she's such a horrible character... it's more about her replacing Emily and JJ. Who knows, maybe we'll end up enjoying her on the show ( I hope), but I would trade her for Emily og JJ anyday.

I love the show and Paget Brewster is my favorite character! I don't know if I can watch now that she's gone. But, I do like the rest of the team. They each have their own special and unique personalities. There will be a big void without her though. If she has the opportunity to come back, I hope she does!

Reruns on ION and A&E for me from now on before the Season Six flush-down-the-dumper... and I'll catch my NCIS fix on USA. CBS, your signal: "Alpha Mike Foxtrot." If you need an explanation, ask a military veteran.

I'm sad to see JJ and Prentiss gone, but I think the new girl's OK. But since Doyle escaped I hope they bring him back and make sure his dead this time. Hopefully with the help of JJ and Prentiss, and why not Clyde?? I really like to see him again not to mention I think he had something to do with the faking of Prentiss death additionally to JJ and Hotch (who obviously seem to knows). Also wonder how the team will react if (which I really hope they do) find out Prentiss isn't dead and that JJ and Hotch knew??

I don't know why Paget Brewster left the show, but I hope it was her idea and not that of some empty suit at the network or the production company. They screwed up big time when they dumped A.J. Cook. Now they have this new character who looks a lot like A.J. Why didn't they just let A.J. stay? CBS seems to be run by fools: they dump shows that are doing well because they don't bring in enough of the 18-49 group and replace them with garbage, like the Criminal Minds spin-off or this new piece of junk, "Chaos". Bah! I'd rather read a book.

If CBS insisted in getting rid of JJ and Prentiss they should have left the slot open for a while. They forced this new character on us without a valid story line. Don't get it at all.
