Elton John Defends Glee, Ryan Murphy, Lashes Out at Artists

at . Comments

The pop culture world is experiencing a healthy dose of Elton John this week.

His songs were covered on American Idol; he's hosting Saturday Night Live; and he stepped into a Glee-based debate during an interview with Jimmy Fallon last night.

Referring to Dave Grohl and Kings of Leon lashing out because Ryan Murphy wants to use their songs on his show, the singer said: “A lot of bands say, ‘We don’t want our stuff on Glee.’ Like, ‘Lighten up, you assholes... I mean, this is a compliment. Also, it sends a positive message out. What the hell is wrong with you guys?”

Ok glee should stop taking everything so personally and chill

Positive message? Hardly. I agree that people should be allowed to come out of the closet and not have to worry about ostracized or shunned. However, I don't think that Glee is exactly a 'positive' message. It mocks people that have faith and mocks people that choose to wait. I agree that Sarah Palin isn't the brightest crayon in the box, but that doesn't mean that everyone that may have the same views as her are the same. Idk, I just don't think that 'positive' message is the right word usage.

i hate kings of leon. glee would've sing better than them.

I like him :)

I still think artist have a right to say yes or no, whether we like it or not. Glee is a great show and entertaining, but it ain't all that and a bag of chips to be criticize other artist for not wanting there music on there show. No means no, get over it.

It's so cool for Elton John to do that. There's a lot of bitchy musicians who don't cooperate well with others in the business.

absolutely agree, it is an honour, if somebody likes your song and sing it. what can be the reason? are you afraid that glee will harm your image or sing better than you?

Lame. Just lame.
