Pleeeeeeease don't let any of the original character's leave as the series would just lose it's substance as the point is to watch their stories unfold and their characters develop...the characters that came in later add alot to the story but to me they will NEVER be the story! Also...even thought I love Jackson I really hope Lexie gets back together with Mark and maybe Alex and April can get together..I think he really deserves to have this 'nice' girl in his life who will just love him...(from a viewer all the way in Sri Lanka!)

Patrick Dempsey, Ellen Pompeo, and the other original actors are the key to the show. Do whatever it takes to keep Patrick and Ellen on the show because they are the key ingredeients and the only reason I watch. If Patrick and Ellen leave the show, then I'm done watching Grey's Anatomy because Derek and Meredith are my favorite couple as well my favorite male and female characters just like Patrick and Ellen are my favorite actor and actress.

if Mer leaves then either they cancel the show or they make Lexie take over because it is GREY's anatomy.

Grey's is so much more dynamic & relevant. I love all of thestory lines but I do want Mark to go away. Lexie should never go back to him. He isn't mature enuf to not hurt her. And I disagreed from the beginning with him being part of the Callie & Arizona dynamic. This season Arizona's personality has been so subdued that it's really disappointing. She's an exceptional character but we haven't heard the speeches, seen enuf of her with patients or watched her character shine. She was great in season 6 & 7. She needs to be given the chance to b great again. I loved the music episode except for the really lame argument between Mark & Arizona. It was just awful dialogue. And Callie remains the spoiled brat smart aleck even after all she's bee thru. Can't we see some character development & growth??? The last episode of the season was terrific. I don't want Grey's to go off after 8 seasons. As others have said, ER survived long after some "essential" characters were gone

if there's no merder, then there's DEFINITELY no grey's merder was te reason grey's existed after all, GREY'S anatomy, i hope the series finale at the end of season 8 brings mark and lex, merder, aaand alex and iz!!

Season 7 final's good ,at least better than ep19 (sick callie secen) & ep20 ( Boring wedding)

if EP,PD,SO won't be back to season 9, please be more focus on 2 couple MerDer & Crowen next season, and give them whatever the great ending is ,but no death, no breakup, no divoice

even when iam not a MERDER fan, it is not Grey's anatomy if i am not waiting for a MerDer's scene to be over to get some Mallie or Calzona scenes.

Its completely up to the actors they are all up for renewal. I have heard that Ellen and Patrick wanted next season to be their last...regardless I dont care who's in and who goes(although selfishly i dont want anyone to go) but I will keep watching until the SERIES finale, and even after that I'll keep watching the dvds!!!

@ smiely glen I saw the transcript of the pilot episode online and it said that Mer was 32 then...so if season 1 2 3 were one season season 4 and 5 were another, season 6 another, and season 7 another that makes them in their 4th year going into their 5th year of residency which would put mer at around, 35 36
If Meredith and Derek break up then it will ruin the whole essence of the show, and what I'm worried about is that one of them is going to do something stupid... To be honest I agree that Lexie and Jackson have NO chemistry, and if they end up together I'm gonna be really pissed off she goes better with Mark, she makes him a better person and he really deserves to be happy but mostly it's obvious they are still in love. I really think that Cristina and Owen have to fix things. I think that April really deserved chief resident. Also alex deserves to be happy with SOMEONE.

Ellen is youthful she can pull it off Meredith would be around 34 or 35, Lexie is around 27 or 28 so the timeline would fit. Season 8 would be the last resident year for Meredith, Cristina, Alex, Jackson and April, we have seen Meredith, Cristina and Alex all grow as surgeons, we saw them as fresh interns, then we saw them go from 1st year residents, to 2nd year residents and so on, they are now 5 year residents and as such this is there final residency year, so in fact Season 8 should be the last Season for Meredith, Cristina and Alex. If Grey's Anatomy continues I would like to see Meredith, Cristina and Alex all applying for the fellowships and lets see them fight for their chosen field, like Cristina interviewing for a fellowship position in Cardio, will Meredith apply for a fellowship in Neuro or will she go into General Surgery, does Alex apply for a Peds fellowship or does he choose trauma we can see all this unfold during Season 9 so question how long does a fellowship run for

isnt ellen too old for playing meredith two more seasons? who will believe she's in her early 30's when she's actually like 42 or 43? or at least it will be her age at that moment...

Shonda needs dramatic SLs for GA characters. But she also needs to realise that GA is struggling to keep its fan base.

Well I won't be thrilled to know that Mer has Altzhimers, or Mer / Der die. That will be too bitter a pill to swallow for me.

There is hope, Shonda and the cast will need to decide if they will come back for a Season 9. Ellen Pompeo, has been interviewed saying she hasn't been invited to stay yet, so there is hope. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Grey's Anatomy has an awesome and high rating Season 8 that ABC and Shonda have no choice but to bring Grey's Anatomy back for a Season 9 and hopefully a Season 10.
I would like to see Meredith, Cristina and Alex apply for their fellowships and then go for attending positions.
Now it's the long wait til September 15th (the 3rd Thursday of September is usually when Grey's Anatomy returns for the new season)

I also hope season 8 isn't the last season. Grey's is my favorite show. I think Cristina and Owen definitely belong together. He stands up to her like no one else will except for Mer. Mer and Der belong together for sure with baby Zola. I would love to see Alex and April together. I could not stand April's character at first but now I love her. I don't know who Lexie belongs with but her and Jackson just don't have the chemistry. Anyway, love the show.

let me start off by saying i do love Grey's and have been a loyal fan since the first season. I do not think that this was a true finale. I feel like too much was forced in to one 44 minute episode. I liked this season, but feel like it's slacking, but that is my own opinion. Hopefully Season 8 turns out well and isn't a measely one hour season premier or finale!

Please dont let Season 8 be Greys Anatomys last. This show is my all time favorite and always will be. I feel that Meredith and Derek belong together and Zola now! Sloan and Lexie should eventually get back together. As for Alex he should be able to settle down and actually stay happy. Go Bailey, he seems really good for her!!! Last but not least I like Cristina and Owen and to me this should make or brake them, but she really should not terminate the pregnancy. It could be life changing for her and she could use that love after Dr. Burke left her at the altar.

this is what i think....lexie and sloan were good together but avery and her are perfect.....mer should not have let derek leave like that especially when she has zola...it was right for her to kick alex out he shouldnt have said anything just cuz he wanted to win cheif resident....she is doing the right thing....i think cristina should keep the baby? maybe id ponder on that a little bit but cristina is also the girl who is too caught up in medical stuff to be a mom maybe she should just terminate and help mer out with zola...i love greys anatomy and i dont think it would be the same without ellen and patrick the story line would just be all messed up...i know they want to be at home with their families but i think they should think again before leaving the show....or maybe its time that they just give a great series finale and say greys is done....even tho i love it sooo much maybe its time to let it go and start some new ideas on new shows.....this is all just my opinion....
