How I Met Your Mother Review: "Challenge Accepted"

at . Comments

New is always better. And this season's final new episode, "Challenge Accepted." proved that it is never too late for a finale to become memorable.

First off, though, a question: was that the set from the "Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld that Lily bought the soup from? It looked pretty similar.

I didn't realize what was going on until Lily burst through the door and tried to stop Marshall from eating the meal. I was so thrilled for the news that I was sure would come that I didn't really mind how Lily's vomit sound actually resembled the T-Rex from Jurassic Park and not a velociraptor. Sorry for that Mosby moment. Who am I, Dino Dan?

Stop, Ted!

As if Ranjit's return wasn't joyous enough, we were treated to Robin and Barney rehashing their relationship as only they could. Robin recalled how she motor boated a much heavier Barney. What an image. I thought the exchange between them was great, in and out of the car. As good as Nora looked, I think she will prove to be just a stepping stone for Barney.

So, the wedding where Ted's meets the mother turns out to be Barney's. We were lead to believe that it will be Nora he marries in the future, but I still think he ends up with Robin. The look on her face when Barney flirted with Norah said it all.

I loved the self righteous Brooklyn guy who claimed Trader Joe's had made his beloved borough, and then offered to sell Barney and Robin weed to boot. Yet another classic New York stereotype well depicted.

Oh, Ted you got me with the random blonde and the orchid. Reminiscent of Eddie Murphy's Ice Cream Man line from Delirious. Wanna lick? Psych! That was cruel, son.

But what a way to end a very emotional season with the news that Lily was pregnant. All the emotional turmoil this season, like Marshall and Barney's dads among other things, were worth it to get to this moment. I loved seeing Marshall peppering his beloveds face with gentle kisses.

A fitting close to the season. As the episode ended, I was certainly left wanting more. I very much am looking forward to what the future holds for the entire gang in 2011-2012.

Until next season, one final thought: What will Marshall and Lily name their child? If it's a boy, will they name him after his late grandfather or steal Ted's Star Wars idea? If it's a girl, I'm sure Barney will weigh in on what names will condemn her to a life working on the stripper pole.

Until then, have a great summer and keep checking in with TV Fanatic for teasers and clues to the upcoming season.

I think Robin isn't the wife since in a pevious season Ted refered to Robin ex-bf and ex-coanchor as uncle Don, which seems to mean she will marry Don. however i might be wrong!

robin and barney have to get married they are so perfect for each other!!! :D

Now I realised that Lily wasn't pregnant at the wedding! So either she had the baby already or the wedding happens before we can see her stomac!

What a nice way to end season 6. I can't wait to find out who Barney will marry. But, I'm in more hopes that it is Nora. We've seen how Robin and Barney as a couple had been. They loved each other but they just can't be together. As for Lily being pregnant, that has got to be the best thing that happened to Marshall. And it's really a blessing after the first half of 2011 was sucky to him. "And that's how I met your mother, PSYCH!" I was really mortified! :) Can't wait for season 7!

I think Barney and Nora are cute together. She's really pretty, nice and doesn't take Barney's crap. I love the mini-montage of Ted's ex-girlfriends. Wow, Barney being the guy who gets married and not Punchy? Expectedly unexpected. I liked him and Robin going through their relationship and seeming genuinely over each other. Robin misses him more, obviously, but apparently acknowledges that it would be a bad idea for them to give it another go. Who knows, though, maybe they will get married after all. Lily's pregnant is another expectedly unexpected event. So..Marshall will have his last smoke two weeks after his son was born? I remember something along those lines. Anyway. When Ted said "and that's how I met your mother", I'm shamed to say I thought "wait, she's not pretty enough!" The extra was very pretty, beautiful even, but not enough to live up to the epic image of the Mother we've gotten over the years.

It can't be Robin... even though they seem to be angling for it. She still has to meet that guy they showed in "hopeless" who's her secret crush. She'll fight for Barney but won't get him cause well... Nora's more perfect for him than Robin is

ahaha legendary-adjacent. so funny. no WAY is barney's wife nora, they wouldn't do that!!! lol, so...are we saying barney gets married before ted? hahaha that's funny
to the person who's like, psych it's not your mom- if the main reason you watch this show is to find out the mother, you shouldn't be watching it anyway

i think in season 7 it will be all about Barneys bride and how will he find her and how decide to marry her! Robin will probably start to fight for him!
So at the weding i think they will introduce 2 girls so we won't know for a time which one is the mother of ted child!

Barney and Robin!! Really liked this episode. The exchange in the car was great and I have high hopes that Barney's bride will be Robin. I have to believe that Nora's just the stepping stone. As for Lily getting pregnant, I'm happy for them. I'm pretty sure it's a boy too based on the episode of them smoking and when Marshall stopped.

I loved this episode!!!! awesome season finale, i really hope it´s barney´s wedding with robin!!! and so excited for marshall ans lily having a baby!

How I Met Your Mother Season 6 Episode 24 Quotes

Robin: Ted, the future is scary. But you can't just run back to the past because it's familiar. Yes, it's tempting...
Barney: But it's a mistake.

Ted: Do you know how many people it takes to change fifty-thousand light bulbs?
Barney: Are these people Irish? Polish? Blondes? What are we dealing with here?
