Jennifer Love Hewitt to Replace Mariska Hargitay on Law & Order: SVU?
Mariska Hargitay has signed a new deal to remain on Law & Order: SVU. But there's a surprising catch and twist.
The veteran actress will only stick around for 13 episodes. Around midseason, TV Line reports, Olivia Benson will take on a supervisor role, passing the gun and holster to a new female detective.
With Hargitay out, could Jennifer Love Hewitt be in?
And who might come on board in this role? NBC insiders are said to be recruiting Jennifer Love Hewitt, who guest-starred on the drama last season. We didn't see that name coming.
Christopher Meloni is yet to sign a new deal for the 2011-2012, but is expected to do so.

I love this program and if it is changing the two main people I will not watch anymore. That was the reason I watched anyway, the two together were dynamite.

oh come on you guys so olivia may not stay on the show but we should give jennifer love hewitt a chance at least... i am sad that chris is leaving.

They may as well get rid of the show if that happens. It will not be the same for the fans without the original actors and actresses on the show. How will go next? Ice-T?

My replacement for Mariska would be Holly Marie Combs and for Chris would be Mandy Pantikan

The only reason that I watch the show is to watch Mariska. There is
something about her that fascinates me. I realize her wanting to
cut down on her hours and I understand it. The fact that Jane
Mansfield was her mom enticed me to watch in the beginning to see
if there was a resemblance and I've watched her ever since. I
think that she and Christopher work very well together.
I think they should look internally for a replacement. Their cast
consists of other women that I think would be a better replacement
than JLH. She's never been my favorite.
Hope this all works out for the better.

I'm sure we all understand why Mariska is requesting more time from SVU, she needs to have more time with her children. I respect that and will always wish her the best. But I do agree that the show will never be the same without her. She brings so much to this show and she will not easily be replaced, and I know the producer know that.I thnk they need someone much more suited for Elliott's new partner. No matter who they decide to choose, the program will never be the same. It's too bad, they had such a good season,SVU was only getting better even after 12yrs, still a great show.We the fans will certainly miss Olivia and SVU.

I will stop watching the show if they put in jlh in Bensons place what is she going to do /Call on the ghost of the dead rape victims to solve their murders? No way it will never work'',I watch it every day I love SUV and no one could replace Olivia,if it is not broke do not fix it. I AM NOT A GWFAN'

NO WAY...JLH IS TOO GIRLY, FLIMSY AND DOES NOT FIT THE ROLE. THEY NEED TO CHOOSE SOMEONE WHO COMES ACROSS STRONG AND PASSIONATE JLH IS NONE OF THESE THINGS.THEY WILL LOOSE LOADS OF VIEWERS...THEY NEED TO THINK OF SOMEONE TOTALLY DIFFERENT WHO COULD AT LEAST HALFWAY FILL BENSON'S SHOES...
