The Big Bang Theory Season Finale Review: "The Roommate Transmogrification"

at . Comments

The Big Bang Theory ended it fourth season with a cosmic boom. Where does "The Roommate Transmogrification" leave our nerdy guys and their girls for the fall?

Every relationship is up in the air, except for the oddly perfect-for-each-other Sheldon and Amy.

I found the installment and each of the stories to be hilarious and/or to propel the characters forward. Overall, as a season finale, it gave me the laughs I expect and left me sitting in anticipation for the show to return in September.

I'm not sure you can ask for more from a finale. Over the last half of the season, the writers were able to find a nice balance for the new, enlarged ensemble cast.

New Roomies

I try to stay spoiler free, but I read a comment on a previous post of mine about Raj moving in with Sheldon. Initially, I couldn't think of a way that I would enjoy that idea, but they pulled it off.

I wasn't expecting the pairing of Sheldon and Raj to be that funny. But Raj's desire to be liked and to fit in and Sheldon's need for rules led to them complementing each other quite well. I wouldn't mind them staying roommates for a while.

Perhaps, next season, Leonard can rebound right into Penny's apartment!

While the roommate swapping was happening, two relationships were troubled. Howard was again reminded that he didn't have his PhD. That ego-crushing wasn't even the worst of it for him, as he also had to deal with her making much more money.

It was painful to watch, but I think they will ultimately work it out. Maybe Howard will decide it is time to get a PhD or just get over it. While I felt bad for him, the ribbing at the Cheesecake Factory was pretty funny. I mean, Penny - a waitress - even got in on it!

Penny, oh, Penny. Did they or didn't they, that is the real Shakespearean question of the episode. To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about this. At first, I thought it was pretty funny, but now, I think it is just sad.

Penny revealed her true feelings for Leonard, but then ended up in bed with Raj. And poor Raj couldn't even talk to her in the morning. I'm going to wait until the show returns and I can see how it all plays out before I decide if I like this new entanglement or not.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this season, in particular, the growth of our nerdy friends and the addition of Bernadette, Amy and even Priya to the mix. These relationships were brought to a perfect, somewhat cliffhanging, spot in the finale.

do you remember friends ???:::: ross and rachel broke up in the second or third season,,,, they end up together in the last episode ....
I think that the writters are just doing it so they will asure a job for many years....
actually I have some ideas about what 'd happpen next season but ... to make up the Sººº the writers did it will take a lot of timw

I can't begin to express how disappointed I am with this show. I absolutely despise shows as 90210, Grey's Anatomy and all that other emo/drama crap. And now this happens in my once favorite show. The total annihilation of two of my favorite characters.

I love the idea of penny n raj sleeping together, as soon as they were drinking n new it, penny n leonard never work hope this is the point were they drop the hole penny n leonard is getting lame, he is good with prya is perfect 4 him... I know that they r going to keep the hole penny n raj thing... but i like 2 see more raj with bernadette, but it works with penny.

I hated the ending. There is no way Penny would have done such a thing. She would have known it would hurt Leonard. She spent the entire season coming to know that she really loves him and screwed up. There isn't enough booze in the world to get her to do what she did. Very bad writing. A very contrived scene, including all the guys making it there for the walk of shame. If someone doesn't jump out first episode of season 5 and yell bazinga and make this trash go away, I am off. It actually made me feel sick. I can't watch the old episodes anymore without feeling lousy. This never happened to me with any TV show before. Maybe I should call it quits.

I love the larger cast. Although Priya is more villainous, I think she should remain in the cast. I think the show does well with this larger cast and it is much funnier. Amy is hilarious. It is funny that She has her doctrine in real life. She used to play Blossom as a child star and now Amy. She's perfect for Sheldon. I think the show really needed a group of girls. Penny is very funny also.

P.S. TVFanatic, even though you'll delete my post within 48 hours (we completely understand, no worries), we're big fans at Findthatstyle and use you guys as case studies :) And... Big Bang Theory is the sh*t.

@Kevin - Arguable at best :P The post was actually made to be used as a demonstration to our interns at tomorrow's meeting (which also happens to be my birthday). Cut me some slack this once? ;) Cheers!

Kevin Whitley, You are an ASS!

I'll bet it turns out that Penny is pregnant 'cause that is where all my favorite shows seem to go next season (90210, Gossip Girl, Grey's, Bones). I hope not of course Penny and Leonard forever!! BTW totally loved the Bernadette and Wolowitz thing where she gave him the Rolex and turned him into a trophy husband with on etiny expensive gesture.

Also, everyone hasn't slept with everyone... There was Penny/Leonard and now a one night stand with Raj... Otherwise the couples have all been the same...Bernadette with Howard...Raj with no one...Sheldon and his quasi gf Amy. That's really not everyone sleeping with everyone, considering that it's a tv show heavily involving sex...It's really not that poly amorous. The only other cross over was Leslie Winkler and her character was established as very sexual.

The Big Bang Theory Season 4 Episode 24 Quotes

Penny: Hey, Sheldon, did you change your Wi-Fi password again?
Sheldon: Yes, it's "Penny, get your own Wi-Fi." No spaces.

Sheldon: Here's an interesting fact about alcohol ... Man is not the only species that ferments fruit in order to become intoxicated. Can you guess what the other is? Hint: sometimes they pack the alcohol in their trunks.
Penny: Monkeys
Sheldon: When does a monkey have a trunk?
Penny: When a suitcase just won't do
Much later - Sheldon: And the answer was elephant.
