Best....show....EVER! I never even heard of G.R.R.M before HBO brought out the teasers. Man, am I glad I got educated with a quickness. I absolutely love Game of Thrones. The characters, twists, turns, backstabbing, maneuvering, sex, battles, comedy, mystery, mystique, guts & glory. It's everything I ever wanted in a show, and everything I expect from HBO's QUALITY programming. These guys know how to pick and create winners.
As much as I would like to go out and start reading George's books, there is no way in hell I'm going to ruin this ride with spoilers. Until the curtains close on this outstanding show, I'll be content in my ignorance having never read a single page.

As excited as I am to see what is going to happen in the next part, I think that they should do a prequel for season 2. It would be cool to see the characters that we've only heard about like the "mad king" , John Arryn, Ned's sister and John Snow's mother. And we'd get to see Ned again. And while we're at it can we see that hot babe Khal Drago too?

Whoa! I got a free preview of HBO over the weekend and discovered Game of Thrones... Thought I would try it and ended up watching every single episode in one day! I WILL be subscribing to HBO when season 2 arrives... I love it!!

The chap doing squats, etc. is the Grand Maester Pycelle, of the Small Council.
People keep making comments to nudity, quick thing on this. All around the world its not a big deal except here in the states where radicals make stupid comments about nude people - as if when alone or with a significant other u don't see it. If they remove the nudity, the swearing/ cursing it wont be 10.0 it will be less than 9. Why u ask ? because its what makes the whole experience memarable and exciting. Please just watch it and enjoy it. THIS IS RATED R not PG-13. If you can't handle skip please.
This is the best series on tv hands down but people always find flaws , some people look for them other find them, who are you ?

Good series! I read these back whn I was in highschool. Good adaptation for TV! I knew while readin that this would be an awesome movie, especially after Lord of the Rings got such a great reception. It's not as over the top with magic and creatures, but it's a great story. Some things to note - a LOT was rushed/left out, of course. Look at the books between season if you enjoyed the show. Lots of history and old grudes are explained. Also, a little nugget - Catelyn hit Jaime with the rock in the 2nd book, so HBO decided to show a glimpse of things to come. After the first 6 or 7 episodes I thought they wouldn't finihs the book this season, but the last 3 rushed a lot. Again I highly recommend the read of the entire series! I have to read "A Feast of Crows" myself!

Really good recap. You touched upon my faves. Joffrey's a sadistic prig, Dany and the dragon hatchlings, Jamie getting headbashed, any scene with Peter Dinklage, (I'm forgiving of his wayward accent.) And btw, is Cersei getting it on with her younger brother now that Jamie's out of the picture?! Ew! However, I'm still reeling from the fact that Boromir, I mean Ned Stark is dead!

You won't be disappointed. No spoilers, but the rest of the series is very much like the first book where the supernatural is concerned. It is present but it is very much on the periphery. It won't go all True Blood on you and introduce a new fairy tale creature every season to keep things going...

I'm most interested for Arya and Danys storyline next season, And maybe Sansa. I hope Arya leads an army of slaves against kings landing! Who would know all the secret passages better than the pickpockets?

Not sure we can wait 10 months. With shooting beginning on 26 July for season Two maybe they could begin on HBO in December. This is the best series on HBO since the Soprano's. The writers are far and away more gifted than any others on Television. Does anybody know How much per episode this cost to make? Has to more than any others series ever for Television.

Even if you don't want to read all the books yet, you are safe reading book one, A Game of Thrones, as the HBO series only covered this book.
The books are rich with detail and include family trees and maps that definitely help with figuring things out :)

What an amazing ending for what has been an equally amazing series. Dany is my favorite character and I couldn't wait to see her emerging from the ashes unharmed with her three dragons. For those who don't like dragons, witchcraft and particularly necromancy this would be a good time to quit watching the show.
Alan Seeger, of course Pycelle is "GRAND" maester. Informally, he is known simply as Maester Pycelle. Seriously, don't be THAT guy.

Very much enjoyed the first season. Did not read the books. It is the rich characterizations of the TV show that makes the series so compelling. If next year it turns into dragons and witchcraft from the east and zombies and werewolves from the north, I am out.

Pycelle is a GRAND Maester, thank you very much. But pretending to be blind and infirm -- that sly dog!
The old guy visiting Roz was Maester Pycelle, the oldest member of the small council. You could tell by the chains around his neck. And seven hells, could they make his nightie A BIT thicker?

Actually, I did felt there were so many great bravado and one-liners, that it was great and funny.
Story arcs that were supposed to be finished in-aligned with the Book:
1.) Eddard Stark Saga: "So, here lies Eddard Stark, son of Ricka, Lord of Wintefell and true protector of Westeros." A father that died with the principles of trying to save one's family despite his forced contrition and allegiance to King Joffrey. It's not hard to see the LOTR comparisons of Sean Bean's Denthator character to Eddard Stark. Both were imbued with a sense of leadership but their morales/principles lead them to their folly.
2. The First King Nomination: Robb Stark. Following his father's footsteps and morales, he firstly nominates Renly Baratheon as the actual true king of Westeros. But he sees the need f

Night Watch rides! Loved Dany's, Tywin/Tyrion's, Jon and friend's, and Cat/Jaime's scenes. I forgot the names of the old guy with Roz and the eunuch's. Joffrey would make a good tyrant but not a good king.
Well, today, HBO aired the last episode of one of the most epic series of all time: Game of Thrones. In other news, Sansa Stark celebrated Father's Day by watching (forcefully) her daddy's head mounted on a spike by her lovely husband....and getting slapped in the process. Painful yes but justice is about to be resumed in King's Landing as Tyrion Lannister was appointed Hand of the King. Remember that one episode when Joffrey got slapped in the face fifteen times by our lovely little Imp? Well, signs of things to come I know.
I feel fortunate to be able to enjoy the book and then, to see its characters painted in vivid details on the show. How would I know Arya would look that cute as a boy with the short hairs? I like her even more now !!! And, Gendry Baratheon, what a handsome young bastard he turns out to be. Mark my words. These two will be a couple (this is not a spoiler).
There are several goosebumps moments in this one. Robb being proclaimed the King in the North by his ba
