by at .

Doctor Who fans flooded Hall H at Comic-Con today, whopping and hollering for stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan.

Among the tidbits revealed at the panel? The two originally given a dummy ending to the mid-season finale, as only Alex Kingston (River Song) knew the truth about her character and what would happen.

As for what's ahead? The series returns to BBC America on August 27 and will air six new episodes. Get a look at them here:

Hey @Uncle Jackass, open up your knowledge basket cause I'm about to drop some: Think about it this way, what if River Song, as a child in the spacesuit, is the impossible astronaut rising from the deep in Utah to kill the doctor? It fits, and you ask what she did to get locked up in Storm Cage? She killed the Doctor as a child! She consistently alludes to killing the best man she has ever known, but what if she, as the daughter of Amy and Rory, having been exposed to the time matrix on the TARDIS and exhibiting qualities of a Time Lord (as demonstrated at the end of the second episode this season), was weaponized by the Silence or some other group, to kill the doctor in 2011? As a child she would not have known the Doctor and would be acting "under orders" to kill him, she would not have known Amy and Rory were her parents as she had been taken from them and she would not have know she was the future River Song. Later, she would be arrested for her crime, then she would meet the Doctor, which we have yet to see her first encounter with him as an adult, realize how he is the best man she has ever known and come to terms with herself having killed him in her past, his future. The wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff makes it all very difficult to follow, with two timelines converging in reverse of each other respectively, but it makes it fun! I also see @She was a daydreamer's point that, even though convoluted, it could be too simple and it will just be written entirely differently. Either way, August 27th cannot get here fast enough.

Uncle Jackass, I don't think it was River (that would be too easy and nothing is ever this easy on Doctor Who). I think River most likely killed her father (because Rory seems to be the poor guy who dies and then lives and then dies again).

But other than that, I can't wait for August 27th!

It would seem a moronic plot hole if the person to shoot the doctor was most likely River Song as a child, but then again what crime did she commit to land in interstellar jail?
