Eureka: Canceled!

by at . Comments

Start saying farewell to Eureka, readers.

SyFy is currently airing what is considered to be season 4.5, while the cast films the 13 episodes that will comprise season 5 and likely start airing this fall.

After that, six more installments will run (in the summer of 2012, we presume) and that will bring the Collin Ferguson and Salli Richardson-Whitfield series to an end.

There's plenty of time to say goodbye, but From all of us at TV Fanatic, to all of the residents of Eureka: it's been a pleasure.

UPDATE: Forget about those six episodes. Eureka will end after season five. SyFy has released this statement:

“After painstaking consideration, we have had to make the difficult business decision to not order a season six of Eureka. But Eureka is not over yet. There is a new holiday episode this December and 12 stellar episodes set to debut next year, marking its fifth season and six memorable years on Syfy. The 2012 episodes are some of the best we’ve seen, and will bring this great series to a satisfying end. We are very grateful to Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia, their team of incredible writers, and an amazing cast and crew who have consistently delivered a series we continue to be very proud of. We thank the fans for their support of this show and know they will enjoy its final season in 2012.“

They are all idiots. DO YOU HEAR ME? YOU PROGRAMMING IDIOTS? I suppose on the whole, you have to program for 2nd graders, as that is what you think of the intelligence level of the American public. But for those of us who disagree, you messed up big time. I can't even tell you on how many levels this is wrong. You have some seriously talented writers, what are you going to do with them? Arrrggg, I am regressing to screaming and throwing a 2nd grade tantrum over this. Is there nothing we can do to stop this insanity?

I agree with most of the comments. How is SIFY still on the air? They cancel shows like Eureka, Dresden Files, and Santuary only to keep battlestar galactica on. The lead program director, or whoever is responsible should be fired. Wait, maybe he or she received the job after being let go from one of the big banks recently... I mean, seriously, why does SIFY not realize how F(*ked up this is??? Or maybe they are just ignoring those of us who "don't seem to matter." I will not be watching ANY MORE sify. That is a shame... So long Eureka Team... You WILL be missed!

So Sanctuary and Eureka have been cancelled, but you still show phony baloney Professional (??) Wrestling. Go figure. OK, granted, wrestling fits the fiction part, but has nothing to do with science. Good shows like the two above mentioned shows are hard enough to come by amid the garbage of reality shows that only waste broadcast time. Ghost Hunters? Give me a break! Yes, I know all TV channels are sponsor and advertising driven, but when you drive people away by cancelling the few good shows you have, who is left to see that advertising? Bad move, and with those two shows gone, so is my only reason for watching the SyFy channel. Advertise away, but I won't see it because I won't be watching.

Well, I guess there just wasn't anything offensive enough, morally shocking or socially acceptable to keep such a creative, interesting, different, and delightful wholesome television show on the air, go figure America ¯\(°_o)/¯ :(!

I can't believe Eureka is going off air! Are you guys crazy. This is one of the only shows still left in today's society that is ACTUALLY family friendly. I wouldn't even let my son watch some of the cartoons that are out now because they promote everything but wholesome ideals. Who knows what we can do to keep it on air?

Avatar

Okay... this is just ridiculous! I just got into this show after learning about it on Netflix and have vowed to make it one of my regulars!! Isnt there any way we can all band together and force them to keep it on?? Did They do that for ER or some other show??

Avatar

why would you take a wonerful show like euerka off everyone in my family just loves the show what you such do is take those stupid ass reality shows off who cares about them. everytime i turn around there is another one on. I have been watching euerka from day one have not miss a show please keep it on.

w.hat is wrong with you people. you take off the only show you can watch with your children and leave on trash like Lost Girl. I have watched Syfy for years but will not again. you people have really goofed up

They are taking the best show off the air, and leaving the junk on. I and my freinds will not be watching SIFY after this great show goes off the air.

Stupid move. Too bad they cater to the unintelligent fakes that would rather watch men in tights than science fiction. Hope some other company/network buys up all the really good syfy shows and they continue on. They will be winners for anyone who takes them on. When are they going to give up the Syfy name? They don't deserve it.
