I also think he'll be great as a chief, though i am sad richard won't be chief anymore, and i foresee meredith's ass being kicked by owen, to finally teach her the difference between good and wrong, so she won't screw any other trials

Okay, this is certainly surprising. Didn't really expect Richard to step down but I guess it makes sense. Owen is also a relatively unexpected replacement for the position but given the history of other candidates, he seems to be a good choice. Wonder how he'll be as Chief.

@Aussie: I don't think he has. In season 7, the episode where Derek took Cristina fishing, Owen and Meredith got into a huge argument over Cristina and how Owen feels Meredith is no good for her. I think it's episode 10 or 11 if you re-watch.
As for the article, I hope him being Chief Of Surgery (COS) means he is no longer in front of the camera as much. After all, if we were promised screen time for the originals, Bailey would have been chosen as COS this time round.

Have they ever heard of spoilers??? I would have liked to been surprised (which I am)by this news.

I think he likes her and recognizes her talent as a surgeon.....remember she pulled out a bullet out of him while miscarrying her baby!.....but he doesn't like the fact that christina always goes to her when something is wrong.....at the season finale he even acknowledged that meredith is universally liked in the hospital.....
Has Owen ever liked Meredith?
Me not thinky so, it always came across as he never did like Cristina and Meredith being BFF's and that it always got in the way of his relationship.
Oh well least it take's GI Joe out of his comfort zone to be the pen wheeling admin boy instead lol.
