The shooting of Kate Beckett on the third season finale of Castle didn't simply open up a wound on this detective. It will force her to open up emotionally, as well.
TV Guide reports that former Star Trek: The Next Generation star Michael Dorn will appear on at least two episodes of the ABC hit this fall as Beckett's police department-mandated therapist.
The sessions between doctor and client will "dredge up a whole bunch of stuff," producer Laurie Zaks says, adding that Beckett and Castle's connection will become a focus: "Her conversations will enlighten how the relationship will move forward to whatever that next level is."
Moreover, look for Beckett to realize she has to "let go or deal with how her mother died," Zaks previews, considering the unsolved case of her mom's murder is what landed Kate on the psychologist's couch, and in the hospital, in the first place.
Castle returns with new episodes on September 19 and Dorn will debut on the season premiere.
