Love this show! It's entertainment in the purest form. It's got a plot, an arc plus lots of drama and humor combined. One of the best shows and most talented casts on TV. The nitpickers will always find something to complain about. It's the reason they live and breathe. Keep on nitpicking peeps, that way we know you're still watching! ;-)
I was exhausted by the time this first episode was over! Had to go back and watch it a couple of times again just to take it all in. Can't wait to see all the new twists and turns coming up on this season. I still say, nothing is what it seems except that we got Danno & Steve back together.
It was like magic when they were reunited in Max's home and started arguing... I'm pretty sure Chin was more than ready to hang up the bromance shoes with Danny and return him to his rightful partner, Steve McGarrett. Those two were born to be thorns in each other's side. :) I loved the new characters and it's nice to know that Kono doesn't need anyone to r

i really hope they by making jenna a member of wo fat's team, she will be leaving the show soon. her character is a distraction from the great chemistry of the original team. and it looks like they are bringing in yet another new female team member next week... i'm sure they're trying to find a love interest for steve or danny, but why mess with something that is clearly working?? that's what ruins tv shows.

I loved the opening of season 2. I liked the new characters. I was totally shocked by Jenna Kaye and Wo Fat, did not see that coming. Wo Fat needs to go on longer to explain more why McGarrett's parents were murdered and the back story of how John McGarrett, (not Jack Lord's character, please stop comparing the old show with the new), got involved with Wo Fat, which led to the Five-O task force being created to keep an eye on the younger McGarrett.
There is more to explain, so Wo Fat needs to hang around longer. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

Mrs. Cleaver,
Sadly I adore Claire Van der Boom, and while I disliked Rachel when they introduced her, I like the soft side of Danny she brought out at the end.
PS. all reviews here on TVFanatic assume you have watched the episode, hehe.

I will never understand why when a show is a hit with a certain group or theme they have mess with it. This was a great show that they are going to ruin by adding more and more people. Let the stars be the stars. (Cann should have been nominated for emmy).

remember people, this is pure entertainment, pure lovely scenery. this show is not a continuation of the original 5-0. Jack Lord is not mcgarrette's father. relax, enjoy the scenery, and be entertained people. don't look for all the wrongs in this show. it's great for our economy here in hawaii. if you don't like the show, don't watch it. simple

@ TS - great observations. I also agree with you about all you said and about the ending. If she is working for WO Fat why would she give up the locker key...Lots of holes but sadly I still enjoyed the show.

artymaj,
You have an excellent point... I will have to do some investigation and see if there are any answers to be had.

I'm a fan of the show. However, there's a huge continuity problem with the first show of the second season! Early in the first season it was established that Chin Ho was mentored by John McGarrett and that Chin Ho knew of Steve through John and the fact that Steve had broken virtually all of Chin Ho's football records at the local High School.
They even commented on the fact that Steve wore number 50 on his jersey, a strange number for a Quarterback, Steve explained it away by saying his Dad always referred to them as "Five O". Kono suggested that the team should be called "Five O".
Here's the question: How did Steve play H.S. football there in Hawaii if his Father "sent him away" after his Mother's death as stated last night? And, Steve said he really did not know his Father that well. ??????

The premiere was good, but I'm nervous about all the changes coming up so soon. We already have great characters, who deserve more time onscreen, and Terry O'Quinn promises to be great. Do we really need a 5th member, though? I can understand the reasoning for it, but is a 5th member really necessary? Jenna was not welcomed, and she wasn't even touted as a 5th member. What makes CBS think Lori Wilson/Weston will be? Especially since CBS pushed her on as a "potential love interest for Steve", a "female McGarrett", and published a horrible photo that made her look like a 16-year-old Laurie Partridge.

Okay, great open to the season. However, why do they keep on referring to (Jack Lord) old Steve McGarrett as John? In the original series wasn't it always Steve McGarrett?
Also, wouldn't the Lt. Gov now be the Gov upon (Jean Smart) death?

@Andy, i realize that Wo Fat is going to be an ongoing struggle through out, i just wish they would diversify the chase, so that it's not the same template each season.
and yes i might not have seen the original Five-o but this is not a copy, it's a remake and while all the key aspects must stay the same they can still shake it up a little, it is new times after all. i want to truly believe each time that they are getting close to him that this time they will get him and be surprised grind my teeth when he pulls sth out of a hat and escapes.

The title should have been "HOKEY" not "Ha'iole". Did anyone buy thet you can run, fight, leap from boat to boat (landing midtorso on the hand rail) with a freshly stitched (maybe maybe not) stab wound? The guy almost bleeds out early in the show and then isn't bothered by the wound through the rest of the show.
Kone gets put in the trunk with her hands tied in front of her and with her legs free? Everyone on the show lives in high style but the Doc has to live in Kalihi??? Wo Fat is turning into Family Guy and the Chicken.

I can't believe all these good reviews I am reading. I am a fan of the show, but thought this was the worst season premiere I have ever seen. It had more plot holes than a slice of Swiss cheese, as well as holes so big you could drive a truck through them!
- McGarret's jail-break added nothing to the resolution to the show. The picture of the medal led to the old Japanese soldier which led to the locker which led to the chip which showed the camera in the gov's office. All it did was further show McGarret's contempt for the law.
- His escape was way too easy, even if the writers deemed it a necessity.
- HPD wasn't surveilling at least Danny in the wake of a jail break? Come on!!
- Kono shot and killed someone while on suspension?!?! Like that's gonna help her case. Did anyone even notice this on her team?
- If Wo Fat is as bad as he's made out to be, Kono would've been killed on board the ship. It was clearly only a device to allow her escape that she was tossed in

Good show to open the season. I must not be as bright as some other fans because I did not see that coming about Jenna. I thought they did a pretty good job selling her as a true enemy of Wo Fat. She certainly doesn't seem like the typical member of his gang. There must be quite a story there and I'm sure we will hear it some time this season. And as for splitting Danny and Rachel up, not al all happy about that. By the end of last season, Rachel was anything but a whiner and she, Danny and Grace seemed to be on their way to finding happiness again as a family. Of course, I should have guessed that in TV Land, happy relationships are usually very shortlived and it's only a matter of time before most writers follow that same cliched theme that "true love sucks." Yet, I would almost rather them killed Rachel off than having to see Danny subjected to the daily heartbreak of the woman he loves and his daughter living with another man - kind of depressing.

Great episode to begin the new season! A lot of information to cram into one episode though...this one could have almost been a 2-parter, just to flesh out McGarrett's escape and the reinstatement of Five-0.
I disagree with the earlier comment to "get on" with the WoFat angle...a lot of us have been watching the struggles between WoFat and McGarrett since Jack Lord battled him in the early 1970's! Holmes had his Moriarty, McGarrett needs WoFat, it's that simple.
Can't wait for next Monday!
