This episode was superb in every way, and I totally agree with Marsi's review. After nine seasons, NCIS continues to be fresh and to surprise us with its twists and turns. I thought citing rules and Tony's complex relationship with Ziva was a nice touch. Incidentally, Michael Weatherly has developed into a fine actor and his movie star impersonations are on the mark.

I agree. It was a great episode. Anything that centers on Michael Weatherly is good by me. Love him, and his acting is really good. Have loved him since Dark Angel. Remember that? This is one of the few shows on TV that I can get my husband to watch with me. Keep up the good work!

i love the show, everything they do is very good for me. that is a real tv show. But looks that is not the case for the Emmy's people. ha ha

I thought it was a good episode. The producer said over the summer that we would see a 'new' Tony, I don't buy it. I know from personal observations that once a "Peter Pan" always a Peter Pan. If he does become an adult I'll be surprised. One episode does not a new DeNozo make.
Points: Tony and E.J. never officially broke up.
Why did Mike Franks conveniently have a picture of the 'Phantom Eight' in his box of papers.
There will never be a Tony/Ziva 'hook-up'. You people that want that are sick. It never works in television and when I've seen it in the real world workplace it has been a disaster for at least one other person besides the couple (one or both are usually married). If Gibbs wouldn't let Tony/E.J. be together (without one of them taking another position somewhere) he's not going to allow T/Z to HU. Get over it. Same with Abby and McGee.
I do hope we get answers to a lot of open issues and soon.

I loved the interplay between Gibbs and Dr. Rachel Cranston. Wonder if there will be more of her this season - there seems to be a good chemistry!

Like Michael say : NCIS is the number one show for good reasons... And last night the story line was very strong and yes, for a few seconds, I thing it was Sasha Alexander at the beginning! Welcome back gang!

Ok maybe "hated it" was too harsh (watched it a second time lol) not a good season premier (compared to what they've given us in the past) but it did open doors for the up coming season ie; tonys dad coming back, major conflict with the new secnav, vance has to pick a side!, ziva no longer a liaison, and now a new domestic enemy of gibbs (oni) then everything they haven't revealed yet its going to be a great season :)
Ps does the absence of franks mean more appearances from gibbs old man? I hope so

Last Night have proven why NCIS is the number one show in the whole world the story was strong and the flashback were perfect I also love how it was done in real time not most show do that

Tony's traumatic amnesia makes PERFECT psychological sense to me remember he hit his head on floor and he lost the love of his life These season is going to be great

after tony was damaged by Ziva its nice to see them fixing him a lot of Tiva aka Soap opera fan really made last season hard to watch with their bitching and crying I hope they don't do it these season

I love the new casting director and I really love the new writer I really feel like were getting NCIS back I can not wait to see next Tuesday

I liked all the little details like the bit of showing Ziva get her new badge, after seeing Tony had a bloodied one that wasn't his...we all knew it just couldn't be that he shot Ziva but just for a moment it made us wonder. It's those type of tasty little morsels that keep me coming back for more! I think maybe SecNav is going to be more of a team player once Gibbs enlightens him to the fact that he's been played, and pulling his weight for people who aren't on the team makes for bad things. All in all good episode with lots of little strings to follow later down the road.

i think it was a great episode one of the best with superb acting from michael weatherly

I was very disappointed. First of all, there's the flashback structure. It's the weakest way to tell a story on TV because you don't get the feeling anything's happening NOW. Even if the setup only frames the story (ie, you only see it at the beginning & end) you still dilute the impact of the main storyline because...hey...it's already done...we're just seeing a "dramatic reenactment." That's all we ever see anyway (hey it's a TV show!) but I hate being reminded that I am not viewing thrilling events in "real time..." In this case, it was even worse, because the script constantly kept coming back to the setup...Tony in his amnesic state in the hospital room talking to the shrink, whose cloying concern annoyed me greatly. And there were gratuitous voiceovers as well!

As someone else pointed out, Tony's traumatic amnesia makes NO psychological sense since he didn't shoot anybody and has been through far worse in the last eight years... I DIDN'T BUY IT. If he had in fact b

I enjoy ncis and haven't missed an episode yet! Best show I've ever seen (except this one) I felt like I was watching 2 re-runs in one show (gibbs memory loss and tony on a secret case) leaving the "team" factor out of it the cast and how they perform together is what makes this show phenomenal otherwise its just another cops and robbers program I hope it gets better than this

  14. maddie

post trauma amnesia actually does happen: the mind blocks out the event as a coping mechanism. it's not THAT uncommon, espec when you add in a concussion.

i liked the episode but even though Weatherly made the best he could with the amnesia storyline, i didn't like it. it would be understandable if he actually shot an NCIS agent but he didn't. i don't know but i would much prefer if Wendy McKenna's character wasn't there and there was no amnesia and he would simply be telling Gibbs everything that happened.
it didn't feel a little slow and all over the place and confusing. but as premiers go, it wasn't that bad, it set the stage for hell of a season and i can't wait for the rest to come.
btw, i loved seeing a more vulnerable side of Tony and can't wait to see Gibbs clash heads with that bureaucratic butt-head Jarvis and see him go hunt the traitors and highest and most secretive of echelons.

  16. lara

um no, that's not what they do. they function as a unit, and it only works when they're not keeping secrets, or distracted. last time tony had a secret mission he ended up nearly dead. of course his friends are concerned, like tony said, they're fam. didn't think it was slow-paced or overly complicated; thought it was a perfect premiere to raise the staked and keep the season interesting. on a side note, i loved the subtle character relationships like ziva and tony, and the team trying to figure out who was in the photo
