It was a question we asked on the season three preview edition of The Vampire Diaries Round Table: Which member of Klaus and Elijah's family do you next want to meet?

And while it may not have been the response of any of our panelists, The CW has now provided answer: The brothers' mother is coming to town!

We'll soon meet Esther, insiders confirm to TV Guide, the mother of the Original family. Look for her to pop up in a flashback that dates back centuries. Described as "strong and as fierce," the character's intentions will be to protect her loved ones at all costs.
