Two and a Half Men Review: "People Who Love Peepholes"
So it's week two of Ashton Kutcher taking over for Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men - or Alan and Friends, as I like to affectionately call it. As of tonight, that is.
While Kutcher has grown on me slightly since last week (which isn't saying much) the show still just feels a little off.
There were plenty of scenes in Men's previous eight seasons that did not feature Charlie, so I'm not even just blaming his absence. "People Who Love Peepholes" just didn't feel like Two and a Half Men. For example, take Berta.
I'm a huge Berta fan, but for some reason, they decided to give her a voiceover this week. When you're already going through such a huge change like swapping out your main star, do you really have to change up the format on us?
Tonight, we also met Walden's much talked about ex-girlfriend, Bridget, played by Judy Greer. I'm not convinced you're going to find a bigger Greer fan (just check my Facebook profile picture!), but I have to say... this casting just felt off.
Maybe I'm just getting cynical, but the ages feel out of whack on this show. Alan (Jon Cryer: 46) is now suddenly BFFs with Walden (Ashton Kutcher: 33), who used to date Bridget (Judy Greer: 36).
Yes, I realize Greer isn't much older than Kutcher, who's clearly no stranger to older women, but Hollywood always casts younger women and they've made me used to it. And Alan feels way too old to be hanging out with Peter Pan (though his house made me think much more MJ).
Before I offend too many people, I'm going to bring this review to a close. I'm glad the episode ended with Alan moving back into the Malibu beach house. We got that hurdle out of the way.
Now we just need to find a way to make Walen less idiotic and more likable. Then, we need to find a better form of comedic chemistry between Cryer and Kutcher.
There will never be perfect dynamic between the Harper brothers. But we need to do a little better than tonight if this show is going to last more than the season.
Eric Hochberger is the programmer of TV Fanatic, so please forgive his mediocre writing. His programming is far better. Follow him on Twitter and/or email him. Just don't request threaded comments. They're coming.

Alan: This is serious; you will never amount to anything, if you sleep all day. Walden: Morning. Jake: I am sorry; I was just distracted by the naked billion...

The show has been a big disappointment. It not funny, it has turn into a low level porn show without showing any nudity, and perverted. Alan is not funny, and kutcher character can never replace Charlie Sheen. CBS would be better off killing the show and just play the reruns.

I live in the UK so we are behind with the episodes here but with what we have seen so far Ashton Kutcher STINKS. Even though Charlie Sheen looked like crap in his final episodes and wasn't giving his best he still outshone Kutcher. Kutcher can't act to save his life, him walking around naked just isn't funny. The dynamic between Charlie and Allan was what sold the show. Strong supporting characters like Berta( what's happened to Berta ???),Rose, their mum, Judith & Herb which all added to the mix to give a great show. Now it all rests on Allen getting crap all the time with no let up at least the show used to be a bit more balanced with Charlie in it.
For gods sake get Sheen back or call it a day.....Two And A Half Men 2003-2011 RIP

I didn't like what Charlie did...BUT....he made the show. I will watch reruns of the original cast. The new show stinks! It just doesn't have it without Charlie....he made the show...he WAS the show. Yes...everyone was funny on it but they all bounced off of Charlie. They sure made a mistake when they cancelled him.

Expert opinion: All I know is the show makes me laugh. This idea that Charlie Sheen is not replaceable is bull. Allen and Walden are good together. Berta and Jake are funny as usual.

I can't watch it. I don't find Ashton to be a good actor. He is too goofy. I felt like I was being Punked as I watched it. Charlie Sheen is a great actor. As far back as Ferris Buller, he is great. So what if he is buck wild. People can judge all they want, Sheen is true to himself. You're not going to bring him back, and I officially stopped watching. I will watch the old ones with Sheen, however. All good things must come to an end. Love ya, Charlie Sheen!!!!

This show is a train wreck without Charlie. They really need to get over their ego's and bring Charlie back. Just watched Walden have sex with Alan's mom. What made the show was Charlie was living every guys dream. This show is everyones nightmare.

They must think we are idiots. They thought people would love the first episode because Aston was naked and they threw in a few surprise actors to blow up the rating=s of the first episode. All Ashton does is cry over that stupid girl and act like the inocent little puppy that is borin as hell. GET OVER THE GIRL ALREADY and start the show for goodness sake. I gave the show another chance by watching the second episode, but forced myself to finish watching as I was bored to tears. The crew was the best crew and they have royally screwed up what was once a very funny show.
