Two and a Half Men Review: "People Who Love Peepholes"

at . Comments

So it's week two of Ashton Kutcher taking over for Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men - or Alan and Friends, as I like to affectionately call it. As of tonight, that is.

While Kutcher has grown on me slightly since last week (which isn't saying much) the show still just feels a little off.

Cleaning Up Walden

There were plenty of scenes in Men's previous eight seasons that did not feature Charlie, so I'm not even just blaming his absence. "People Who Love Peepholes" just didn't feel like Two and a Half Men. For example, take Berta.

I'm a huge Berta fan, but for some reason, they decided to give her a voiceover this week. When you're already going through such a huge change like swapping out your main star, do you really have to change up the format on us?

Tonight, we also met Walden's much talked about ex-girlfriend, Bridget, played by Judy Greer. I'm not convinced you're going to find a bigger Greer fan (just check my Facebook profile picture!), but I have to say... this casting just felt off.

Maybe I'm just getting cynical, but the ages feel out of whack on this show. Alan (Jon Cryer: 46) is now suddenly BFFs with Walden (Ashton Kutcher: 33), who used to date Bridget (Judy Greer: 36).

Yes, I realize Greer isn't much older than Kutcher, who's clearly no stranger to older women, but Hollywood always casts younger women and they've made me used to it. And Alan feels way too old to be hanging out with Peter Pan (though his house made me think much more MJ).

Before I offend too many people, I'm going to bring this review to a close. I'm glad the episode ended with Alan moving back into the Malibu beach house. We got that hurdle out of the way.

Now we just need to find a way to make Walen less idiotic and more likable. Then, we need to find a better form of comedic chemistry between Cryer and Kutcher.

There will never be perfect dynamic between the Harper brothers.  But we need to do a little better than tonight if this show is going to last more than the season.

Eric Hochberger is the programmer of TV Fanatic, so please forgive his mediocre writing. His programming is far better. Follow him on Twitter and/or email him. Just don't request threaded comments. They're coming.

Charlie and allen are good together . sorry walden you are not good for the part. yea charlie did a lot of bad things but thats charlie! hes the best! we love u charlie!

I can't watch it. I don't find Ashton to be a good actor. He is too goofy. I felt like I was being Punked as I watched it. Charlie Sheen is a great actor. As far back as Ferris Buller, he is great. So what if he is buck wild. People can judge all they want, Sheen is true to himself. You're not going to bring him back, and I officially stopped watching. I will watch the old ones with Sheen, however. All good things must come to an end. Love ya, Charlie Sheen!!!!

This show is a train wreck without Charlie. They really need to get over their ego's and bring Charlie back. Just watched Walden have sex with Alan's mom. What made the show was Charlie was living every guys dream. This show is everyones nightmare.

They must think we are idiots. They thought people would love the first episode because Aston was naked and they threw in a few surprise actors to blow up the rating=s of the first episode. All Ashton does is cry over that stupid girl and act like the inocent little puppy that is borin as hell. GET OVER THE GIRL ALREADY and start the show for goodness sake. I gave the show another chance by watching the second episode, but forced myself to finish watching as I was bored to tears. The crew was the best crew and they have royally screwed up what was once a very funny show.

What's the deal with the male nudity on this show now? Once again, this week's episode has a scene with Kutcher naked. It's not funny; it's not amusing. Are they just trying to get a femaile audience now? If you're going to have naked guys every week on the show, why not some naked ladies too? There should be something for everybody, shouldn't there? The lame nude scenes and homosexual innuendo are just a form of compensation for bad writing.

i think you should bring charlie sheen back he was the best i am going to quit watching it just the reruns

I just want to make sure it's known that there are people out here who LOVE the new Two and a Half Men. I love, love , love the new format. I like the new Berta, I actually like her and can stand her. She's still a little too mean to Alan but that's the territory :)Let this show do what it's here to do, entertain. Please. There are enough good shows getting cancelled

I was a huge fan of this, until you brought Kelso in. No, don't get me wrong, love the Kelso on that 70's show but if you were going to make Ashton act like Kelso on Two and a Half Men, then you should of just kept his name as Kelso! Waldo needs to snap out of the duh charactor and get some smarts cause it just is not working for the show! You can still bring Charlie back, no one really seen a body, everyone just thinks he is dead! Maybe you can make a new show of Three and Half Men! Keep Waldon, Alan, Charlie and Jake!

Im sorry Chuck !!! Sorry that Warner Bros. Hired a knuckle head like you to make million dollar decisions. If I was your boss you would be canned !!!!! And believe me they're talking about it .Sheen said he was sorry ,suck it up and realize you exploited him and he you .Hes WINNING

Show is condemned to failure without the star.
Ashton is not the star.
Bring Charlie back!
