@strawberry fields- It's like you're in my head. Awesome.

    1) So many good interactions and quotes in this episode - both serious and light hearted. I think the initial Dan/Chuck scene produced the best quotes: Chuck offering up scotch and valium at 2pm, Dan naturally assuming Nate is a slow reader, also "didn't your dad get temporarily famous singing about Lily?" and "though clearly fiction, I'd never use a belt, I'd use a shahtoosh scarf. Much softer." were particularly LOL worthy. Loved Dan's face when Chuck pointed out that "All success comes at a price. The artist must stand alone to observe the crowd." Great scene, great quotes.

    2) Chuck's death, as I mentioned in my last post...

    3) I think Rufus was sold out the most and the confrontation between him and Dan at the end was gold. I felt bad for Nate and also Serena- until, of course, Serena acted in the same selfish manner Dan had portrayed her in.

    4) Why would Daniel Day Lewis care about a fictional representation of an...assistant?? No actor would care, especially the notori

Favourite quote - "If you can’t tell the difference between what I did to Blair and what I did to you, then maybe your portrayal in the book is more accurate than you thought". I love Dan! I wanted someone to dump a huge bomb on Serena's ego after her "everybody loves a villain" line to Blair. Why would she assume that Blair had to be the villain? Ok, Blair assumed that too, but Serena's certainty that she was still Dan's holy muse makes her an egocentric bitch.

What surprised me about Dan's book… Not the Dair imaginary sex. Not the fact that he made Serena look like a selfish pretty girl that she really is (even if she desperately tries to pretend that she isn't). Chuck's death was the shocker of the day, but even more shocking was his reaction. I was truly impressed by Chuck. The only person who understands the meaning of the word "fiction" apparently. His conversation with Lily at the end was very emotional. We got to see how lonely he really feels.

    I was also impressed by

I think the most surprising and hilarious thing in Dan's book was Chuck's death. I never, ever thought I'd hear an allusion to auto-erotic asphyxiation on the CW!! I can't believe those references got passed the censors. And it totally reminded me of Nip/Tuck (my absolute favorite show ever- just slightly edging out GG). Christian from N/T and Chuck are very similar and a lonely, accidental death while seeking pleasure would be a natural end for both characters. Dan and I sure think alike.

Of course, the hilarity of auto-erotic asphyxiation being mentioned on the CW morphed into sadness when Chuck had some self-realization that his life will end tragically if he doesn't change. I hope they continue down this road with the character- it's interesting, refreshing and they seemed to have found a balance between the snarky, morally ambiguous Chuck and the emo-ish Chuck that realizes the tragedy of his current situation that's equal parts due to a bad upbringing and bad decisions. There'

1."I'm guessing my dad's probably halfway through and Nate's probably on page 20." Best thing EVER!
    2. that he portrayed all his family and friends that harshley.
    3. rufus and nate. how could he do that to poor beautiful nate? i though they were BFFS. but thats ok nate has serena to comfort him.
    4. serenas rep. i mean seriously i know she popular and all but not THAT poplular
    5. serena for her movie thing of course she would otherwise never forgive him or well it'd be awhile. but really i think blair would be his friend first cuz she like wathing movie with him. or nate might just forget and become his friend again anyway.
    6. yes but i still think louis and blair are cute
    7. adam brody as dan/dylan, rachel bilson as blair/claire, ian somerhalder as chuck/charlie, matt lanter as nate/derrick, mischa barton in her marissa cooper stage as serena/sabrina.

  6. lovestruck

Chair still hoping they will be end game!

  7. gossip crazy

Rufus: "the last time [Dan] was this secretive he showed up with a baby"
scene immediately cuts to Chuck and Blair looking frazzled....

    there's still hope!

BLAIR & DAN ARE DESTINED TO BE TOGETHER :) THEY ARE SOUL MATES: DAIR!

OMG. Gossip Girl has dissapointed me and I am so sad for this.
First Louis MUST go,leave, die I don't care. He's soo gay that I want to kick his butt. Dan have to GET OVER blair sometime cause we're all very tired with this story, but I must admit I'm starting to like him!
As for Ivy and Diana I like that 'story'.At least it has a plot.
Last but not least,I think we ALL know that the kid is CHUCK'S,so I hope they end up together. They are the best coupleeee !
Ohh,Nate with Diana look good too ;)
    And Serena looks always cute!

    for fuck's sake IT'S JUST A BOOK.
no one should get mad, they are not their selves on the book, they are fictional characters, dan just took something from real life and something from his thoughts? i rly dont get whats so big of a deal

I no longer see Chuck and Blair as a couple I think the best for the show now is to leave them as friends. What they had was beautiful ... and sexy. But they do not go together as a couple more. And I'm sure it will force them to return only to end further that there was good between them, if they left something good. Chuck is getting as Marissa on The OC, everyone thought that Marissa and Ryan did not get together the show would end, but it was totally the opposite. And the story of Ryan and Taylor could soon be wonderful. And I think that season 4 is perfect. And I hope the fans leave the Chair below show the way it goes because GG finally returned to what it was. Exciting. Funny. And others.

This is just a "hopeful" blog for chair fans because truthfully dair is all over to everyone's tongue. I suggest both parties keep hoping for their otp. Let's see how the writers could manage this whole season. I'm excited!

I totally think Charlie/Ivy will actually win a role in the movie. It's a reason to keep her character around after they discover she really isn't a Rhodes.

P.S. YES! Blair and Chuck are destined to be together - and should be end game on the show.

i am a hardcore "chair" fan as you can see above :p but OMG i so so so so soooooooooooooooooo want Dair to happen .. it annoys me to see obsessed chair and obsessed dair fans .. Its a show purely for our entertainment and as long as im entertained then im happy with whatever happens
ALSO love love love love this novel storyline .. haha atleast Vanessa did something good before leaving
    - Nate is such an idiot.. i mean the way i see it dan wrote this book purely to vent his frustrations out or whatever.. every single character has something negative about them in the book , even "Dylan" himself ..If nate is not in it then he should be happy that dan had no complaints about him .. I myself woulf love for nate to be in the book potrayed as the really stupid manwhore he is .. which leads me to "GIVE HIM A REAL STORYLINE". Diana is so season 2!!

And lastly Leigh : Charlie - Damon from Vampire Diaries. HILARIOUS!

Favorite parts: Dan's conversations with Chuck. Lilly giggling over Nate's portrayal (and Nate's initial response). Dan's conversation with Serena.

Who did he sell out the most?: Blair, but only because she's about to marry a prince. Otherwise I don't think his portray of her would really matter. However, he probably hurt his Dad the most.

Most difficult to believe: That he would sell out his dad. Dan and Rufus (Dufus? LOL) have always had a good relationship. It just doesn't make sense that Dan would portray his Dad's character like this even if fictional. On the other hand, he's had many ups and downs with the the other characters, and assuming that he wrote the manuscript over a long period of time, I'm not surprised that he would have a more cynical approach to their characters. But not Rufus; there has always been a mutual respect with those two.

Are Chuck and Blair destined to be together? I'm not so sure. Blair had this strange look when she was reading about her and Da

Did anyone notice the look on Louis' face in the finale scene of him & Blair in bed? Blair looked content, Louis looked like he didn't mean anything he had said earlier in their "make-up" scene.

are chuck and blair destined to be together?
how is that even a question? OF COURSE they are! did you see those sideways glances in the humphrey/van der woodsen apartment?

    1. I have to go with Leigh's favorite quote, although Nate could only make it to page 20 if there were pictures.
    2. I guess the most surprising thing was that Dan made his character have sex with Blair. So now it's fantasy as well as fiction?
    3. Dan sold out Blair the most I guess. What gets me was that Dan told them all it was fiction but they still took offense at the way they felt they were portrayed. But Dan knew it would do the most damage to Blair's life which is why he killed the VF story and tried to kill the novel. And why doesn't anybody get that maybe Nate isn't in the book BECAUSE he's Dan's best friend? Nate should be thankful, not pissed!
    4. Most difficult to believe = Serena's "reputation" at work and DDL caring about an UES scandal from a farm in Ireland.
    5. Stealing from Leigh "I'd say Nate because Dan could buy him a bag of weed and an ice cream cone and everything would be gravy." Seriously, I think Nate will realize that he's lucky he's not in the b

    @pty
Well, I admit it. This episode made it clear the writers were going to go for Chair all along, like I knew they would. I'm just angry they gave us such greatness in season 4 only to destroy our hopes in this episode. Oh well, it doesn't matter. We dare fans will always have the golden moments between those two to fall back on.
Also, part of being a Dair fan is to dare (as you've probably seen everywhere) and I guess we'll dare to hope even when everything seems to play against what we want.

  21. Heddy

Haha Chuck WOULD read someone elses memoir at Dan's book signing! Especially a memoir that is dealing with issues MUCH heavier than the petty shit Dan's writing about! I applaud Chuck for maturing with his more subtle "take that" remarks and actions :)

  22. pty

I forgot to say that I totally called that Dair would have serious troubles to work on the show. I keep saying I have Chuck and Blair related and non related reasons to not like Dair. Well this is one of my non related Chuck and Blair reasons. I could have told you that Dan would end up emotionally hurt in all this. This is way I didn't want him in the middle of Chuck and Blair. Now I think it's even worst, he's not in the middle of Chuck and Blair, and yet Blair was able to hurt him. The many happenings of the episode didn't allow us to see how he dwelled on the fact that Blair pretty much rejected him so straing forwardly, but that's what happened. You can only imagine than that's got to hurt. Blair simply is not interested in him that way, even if she was tempted during season 4 she quickly snapped out of it. She should have read the whole book to make an informed judgment of whether she liked her portrayal or not, but she didn't, and maybe she would have tolerated the rest

@ Uncle Jackass: I don't know, everybody in the forum keep saying Kirsten is not reliable, that she never gets the spoilers right, so I don't, people prefer to trust in Ausiello nowadays.

To the first person that posted a comment: that was mean, you don't have to be so bitter about this, chill out it's just a TV show. And the point you and some others tried to make is quite off, in fact I find the commentators here have tried to not ship much this season, I've been reading recaps and the majority of the commentators on other sites are claiming for Chuck and Blair:

Just like last week, the highlight of the night was Blair and Chuck’s scene in the park; as was suggested by a commenter last week, I so want Blair to have lied to him about the baby and for it to wind up being his. Are you listening, Gossip Girl writers? The people have spoken and we’re all about Blair and Chuck.” - Daemon’s TV

the book kiss scene is probably just dan's imagination of what he thinks should have happened to the real kiss that dan and blair had. i mean they used the same music, setting etc.
i think the writers prob put it in there as one last hurrah for dair before chair reunites.
i just hope im wrong and chair can just be a nice memory from the first 3 seasons. time to move on i say.

the scene btw blair, chuck and monkey wasn't sweet at all. it felt kinda forced. just my opinion.
though i do like the evolving chuck. looks like he's is growing up, too bad blair grew up 2 seasons ago.
