I actually REALLY liked thisepisode but I have to agree...the plot lines are starting to get filled with holes. If the town doesn't address the murder next week, I tihnk I'll be really dissapointed.

I totally agree with you Matt Richental. And btw, I think if Elena kissed Stefan before she left him alone in the cellar or something saying that she couldn't love a ghost forever, maybe Stefan would have gotten his feeling back or something. I mean he looked at her in that sort of way only Stefan looks at Elena. COME ON ELENA, KISS HIM FOR GODS SAKE!
You did forget to mention that this episode said nothing whatsoever about four charachters with the names of Tyler, Katherine, Rebekah, and the vampire-eating, vampire-killer vampire. They comepletely left out the cliffhangers from last week. And seriously, if Rebekah was determined to take over Carolines life and make her miserable like she was so determined to do last week, why was she nowhere to be seen? What, were she and Tyler passed out from too much drinking (hardy har har)? This episode definately didn't have the awesomeness that this entire season has had so far. WAY off their game on this one.
Didn't see anyone else say this, but I think there is a possibility that Jeremy is thinking about joining Anna and leaving the land of the living. Remember how he told her she wouldn't be alone and that he loved her, what does that mean?

I didn't dislike the episode. I guess I found the old appearances novel because I never watched those episodes...so it was all background for me. And Mason was a babe. Everyone was compelling for me - it took me a while to warm to most of the heroes and find them not dull, but I am fully into Caroline, Elena, Damon, Alaric, et al...so good on that...
It liked the Bonnie centricness.... I enjoy Bonnie when she is given work to do, and I felt like she actually had some better development opportunities here, with her Grams and having to face that she put herself out there pretty far for a guy who's acting like a real doofus. I think she handled it well - she can be kind of emotionally monotone, but I think it's coming across that it's a superficial calm with a lot more behind it. I hope they let her grow it. And TBQH (mostly because I think he's hot) I hope they have Jeremy man up, since he devolved quickly into a stupid teenager in the face of Anna, who (though adorable) is incred
This was not my favorite episode either. But, I will let it slide this once... Even the best shows have an off episode or two. As long as next week's show is the epicness that we have come to love!! thanks for the recap!!

SOMEONE NEEDS TO DIE IN THE SHOW.
Bonnie or Matt. Either one of these two.
PICK ONE AND KILL HIM. This would have been a GREAT way to pick up the show... VICKY CRYING ON MATT'S BED SAYING SHE DIDN'T WANT TO BE ALONE ANYMORE and then STABBING HIM WITH A GI JOE OR SOMETHING.
I think you're exaggerating in this review, Matt. Sure, you're disappointed with this episode but giving it 2 stars is a really dumb move.
I always look at the star-system before I watch an episode. When you rated it as 2 stars, I was looking forward to a lame episode.
But boy you're wrong.
It's a fun filled with action episode. You don't like ghosts? Your problems. Just saying.
And you're saying plotholes anywhere? This is TVD. You can't expect anything to run perfectly. So just enjoy the frickin' story.
I'm so disappointed with this review.

This weeks show relied to much on Ghost and certain scenes were left hanging~~~~Damon Tied in the Chair, Stefan half helps free him and walks out, Ghost Mason then yanks the Curtains open and we see the Sun Burning Damon! So how did Damon get out of the chair?????? Too many Ghost, I mean it nice to see previous Cast members but they are gone now, unless there is a real purpose for a Ghost, then there should not be them running all over town~~~really confusing and really made no sense. Vampire Diaries is the Best series on television, it is my Favorite show of all~~~Thus, that is why I was disappointed in this Ghost story~~~lets get back to the real Town, the Real people , with Damon, Elena and Stefan~~~~a real ghost is all right, just taken a bit too far with the Jeremy and Matt bringing all these Ghost to almost Life~~~a bit too far off to believe! As for Anna, she died, her time as a Ghost has been served~~~she managed to come between Jer and Bonnie, so now Lets hope she Vanishes For

I completely agree with you. The past 2 episodes have had problems, there's been way too many plot holes, people keep showing up randomly with an explanation to something they couldn't possibly know etc. etc.
I hope this is not how the whole S3 will be because it really started in an excellent way. But now the ghosts are gone so hopefully they will get over this letdown and give us real storylines where everything happens in a logical/shocking/non confusing way. And they seriously need to stop adding new characters, this is almost like Glee S2 when they focused more on the music than the characters. Back to the main characters please!

@Matt Richenthal, Lexie did not control Stefan's body. She did not actually dry the blood up in his body. She psychologically made him think that way, and his body being convinced that it was actually happening, responded accordingly to this fake starvation.

i actually liked the ghosts although just one episode with them was kind of pointless. They should have at least been on for a few more episodes. I think what jeremy did WAS wrong but did he ever really get closure with anna? no she just died and he had to suck it up. Bonnie doesnt get it but she was right to be pissed.

From 90% of the comments most people weren't exactly happy with this episode. Atleast half seem to hate the ghost storyline. Most missed characters etc are Delena, Tyler and Mikael/klaus etc. Oh and overwhelmingly let Stefan stay bad by choice for a while, atleast. Very few people seem to disagree with much of the above.

I liked Anna and was glad to have her back.
And Stefan? I never was a fan when he was lovy-dovy. But now?
I've never found Stefan so attractive. I actually admire Paul Wesley's acting. Turning into Damon must be hard because well, Ian Sommerhalder just nailed the bad vampire part. But Stefan makes it believable while still remaining in character! Good job!
And now, this episode needed some Klaus (every episode needs some or a LOT of Klaus hahaha). That means I can't wait for next week!!

I agree with the review. The ghost plotline was pointless and boring (why didn´t Jena show up?!), with just a few exceptions: a) Anna´s reunion with her mother, b) Mason forgave Damon and we could see that it touched him (even though he tries to hide his emotions). I don´t like the fact that: they didn´t show us what happened to Katherine and Michael, the absence of important characters (Tyler, Klauss, Rebecca), they didn´t need the ghost storyline to find a cave with inscriptions containing the clue to kill Klauss (I want to see the characters- Elena, Damon, Alaric and the others- working to find answers, researching information, reading, godamnit!) it was like a solution dropped from the sky and shoved down our throats and it doesn´t taste well when it´s done like that. We were presented with disarticulated situations, the story didn´t evolve from one point to another. I love this show and I know it can be better. This is what I´d like to watch:

this episode was okay. I didn't hate it, I didn't love it. It was great to see Lexi again, Mason is great eye candy, but I'm so over Anna. I love that Elena finally stood up for people this week. She may deal with supernatural crap 99% of the time but she's still a teenage girl who is ready to thrown down with the girl who hooked up with her best friends boyfriend! I think I still have lingering respect for the way she took down Stefan last week after he called her pathetic. Next week looks amazing!

I completely agree with you. This weeks episode was a HUGE disappointment. We need to completely get rid of the ghosts and get back to the main characters and figure out ho wto kill Claus. Is Katherine really dead? Too many unanswered questions.
