I really love greys anatomy and can't imagine my thursday nights without it however if Sandra, Patrick, or ellen were to leave I dont know that I could feel the same watching it. also, I agree with everyone who said izzy should come back. I love Katherine heigl and would love to see Alex be happy again instead of such an asshole . and please don't end the show with derek and Meredith mad at each other !!!!

can't agree more kim. i don't think grey's anatomy should go on without mer+der and if it end they should at least be happy and together. i think there have been enough sadness and they need something exciting- like mer being kidnapped by some guy with a grudge against her mom and a dark secret that is released in the process, but a happy ending on the season finale or something!!! it's getting too depressing to watch. how about something fun and exciting where they all come together at the end. something like the season 6 finale because at the end the main characters survived and they all came together to help each other

Have you evere noticed that Simon Baker from The Mentalist look like a young and blond Derek? If Patrick leaves the show....without changing character (only his hair)...

I hope all of the characters return for another couple of years. I so want Meredith and Derek to finally be happy and when Grey's Anatomy ends I beg that the two of them be together and happy. There has been more than enough sadness in Meredith's life. It's time for happiness and good times. I also hope that maybe Katherine Heigl will return as Izzie. I really miss her character. Even if it were abbreviated stints on the show. I would love for her to return and maybe her and Alex end up back together.

I would like to see Izzy come back... if only to formally end her character... it seems she's just "out in the world" and there's no telling if she's alive or not? It seems like a loose end that should be cleaned up.
It would also be cool in the "What if" episode if they showed what would have happened if George didn't die.

I hope all of the originals stay, especially Ellen, Patrick and Sandra. If Ellen were to leave I would have to stop watching. I wouldn't be able to watch Derek romantically involved with someone else.

i hope they come back i love watching this show i started watching this show since the first night when my husband told my to put it on lol but i miss them already i hope they dont end the show that would SUCK!!!!!!

I really really hope they stay! I have watched it from day one and it is my favorite show!!! Ellen and Patrick are both amazing!!

Really hope that they last for a few more seasons (at the least). I LOVE GA!!! Didn't start watching until i was on bed rest while pregnant during the 3rd season then made my husband RUN out that night and buy the first two seasons on dvd so I could watch it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come back. Dont leave me like Friends did!

They're going to come back. With how the season is right now, there's no way they can end the series for good. And they have to get EP and PD back. No Grey's without Mer and Mer comes with Der.

Just like Dynasty; I can predict that their ninth season on Grey's Anatomy will be the last.

I think they'd like to get to episode 200 for GA. Without MerDer it would be a hollow GA. Patrick has probably already planned his schedule around his movie career, so doing GA would an extra for him.
Der always seems to be doing surgery each episode, and it would be a big gap not to have a dynamic nuero surgeon in GA. Mer without Der, I'd hate that. I hope Ellen and PAtrick do come back for S9.

This season has been great; I would love to get all the regulars back for two more good seasons, ten seasons and we bid them a fond and sad goodbye. Friends got ten; our beloved Grey's characters deserve the same!

@Dr.CerrenoMD I do believe they will all stay however all of the cast members on both Grey's and Private Practice have stated that they never know their storyline until the table read, so more then likely Ellen wouldn't know if her storyline was "getting dumb" until after she already signed her contract renewal.
that being said I predict Grey's will run for 10 seasons

I'm not a huge fan of EP but I do like PD and really hope that they can appear in number of episodes throughout the S9... I know PD wanted to get into the movies properly but this show is very stable income while movies aren't a very sure thing... so I am remaining hopeful.
Plus EP & PD do look great on the show, so fingers crossed... :P

Hopefully they all come back. I don't see why any of them wouldn't. EP and PD have stated that they've want to leave and I've read that EP said that SO wanted to go and explore films, but I think that ABC and Shonda would try and convince them all as much as possible to stay.

Have said this before, economy is still in the toilet why would you leave a successful show that pays the bills.
Believe they will all stay and all full season.

They will come back. Ellen will def come back. She said she would never snub the hand that fed her and only if the story gets dumb will she leave.
