Ringer Review: One Twist Too Many

at . Comments

Despite it's continued twists and turns, Ringer is starting to bore me a bit.

I'm afraid it's getting bogged down in it's own convoluted plots. Yet I'll admit, "Shut Up and Eat Your Bologna" still had some twists I didn't see coming. Let's break then down:

Gemma's alive! I've been wondering how they were going to play this. I like Gemma and was hoping they'd bring her back so I'm not disappointed but there was a lot of blood at that crime scene. How did she survive her attack with no medical attention, being held in a basement, and fed a diet of bologna. Despite being gagged and bound to a chair she still seems pretty spunky.

Jimmy works for Siobhan? Seriously, this is the one I find hardest to believe. Siobhan paid off the FBI agent protecting her sister in order to get her to run. Why would Siobhan have this kind of reach? What's her overall plan and how many people are involved in this conspiracy? It's all become so complex it's a little hard to make sense of.

Bridget's falling for Andrew. Well, who didn't see that one coming. He's been sweet and kind. He's rich and appears to be a good guy. He dotes on her if she lets him. I don't know how he treated Siobhan but Andrew has probably treated Bridget better than any other man in her life. Plus he buys her beautiful things and offers to take her on exotic vacations. What's not to like?

Olivia's got the photos. Olivia would willing blow up Andrew's marriage to close a deal. Of course it doesn't hurt that she hates his wife. I'd preach that all pictures should be destroyed after an affair's over but poor Henry was hoping for a reconciliation up until last week.  Still, if Gemma doesn't turn up soon this won't look good for him either.

I'd hate to see Andrew get his heart broken but I can't imagine what story Bridget weaves to get out of this one. Of course that doesn't mean she won't have a good one.

The Sponsor

Malcolm uncovers Charlie's lies. As happy as I am that Malcolm has more of a role than being tied to a chair (Is it sad to say I assumed he was the one Charlie was holding in the basement?)  I'm still not connecting with his character.

Bridget certainly needs a friend to talk to so we know what's going on in her head but I'm simply bored with all of the Malcolm scenes. I was hoping he'd find Gemma and liven things up but no such luck.

I was really excited when Ringer first started. The mystery's promising and it has lots of twist and turns. It still does in some ways, but I don't care about the characters as much as I should by this point in the series.

Plus, the story is starting to drag on. It hasn't lost me. I'm still in for the ride but I'm hoping next week's mid-season finale evokes some of that breathless anticipation that had me from the start.

I started watching 'Ringer' because I was glad to see Sarah Gellar back on TV. However I've been bored out of my mind by the show and I couldn't care less for any of the characters. I have already stopped watching for the last couple of weeks and definitely will not watch when the show comes back from hiatus.

I really wanted to like that show, but there is hardly any character development, aside from Bridget. At this point, I only watch it because of Jaime Murray (whom deserves a far better part than this).

I don't know about others but i thought it was twisted and great to have Gemma back to kill her off. I was so excited to see her and thought "Oh, I wonder what she'll be up to when she gets out of this?" Because, let's be honest, when someone you've thought to be dead turns up, they don't usually end up dead 5 minutes later. Hopefully it'll push the Siobhan storyline more and finally send Henry over the edge so that he'll do something more than being a bitchy whiner.
The Juliet story is balls. Unless, as the show is all about twists, they've both planned something heinous together so that she can get her trust fund back.

I love "Martin". He is so sexy. would like to see him in more movies

I agree that its dragging on but it not that bad since I made an effort to tune in and watch. I like all the characters including Martin as he at least kind of keeps it interesting. The boring one for me is Olivia as I actually forget she's on it at times until she comes up. Wonder what the real story with Siobhan is?

I agree with the review.

I think Siobahn's reasons for getting Bridget to leave protective custody and see her is obvious based on what has transpired so far. Someone was after Siobahn and wanted her dead. Bridget was her scapegoat...the end of the first episode was proof that Siobahn expected Bridget to die.

I agree that all the twists and turns are starting to get too much, but I'm still loving it. I just wish the characters would be more engaging. They are all a bit flat.

I totally agree with the review. All these twists and turns are making hard to keep up with the story, even if you have been watching it for awhile. I can't figure out Siobhan's ultimate goal. I just thought she was out to avenge the death of her child, and I really believed the person who tried to kill Bridget in the first episode was doing so on Siobhan's say so. But if she has Charlie trying to be her friend, why hasn't he tried to kill her, or even Jimmy. And what was with the gun part. Did Jimmy want her to protect herself because of Siobhan, because why else would he have given her the gun, just so Siobhan could have Charlie get it away from him? It makes little to no sense. I am feeling a little confused, but on the other hand, I want to keep watching it to see if my confusion will clear up. I think right now Siobhan wants to keep Bridget pretending to be her so bad, that if she finds out Olivia has the photos, she will be the next to disappear. Hoping some clarity comes soon. At least some.

I do agree that Malcolm isn't working this is whole storyline. I don't see a real friendship there with him and Bridget. I am completely rooting fo Andrew and Bridget though because even though this is only season one, we can establish that Siobhan will not love him back the same way. I do agree that the overall plot is somewhat blurred beccause there are so much other storylines beneath it. Still a great show. The writing is amazing.
