Season 6 was brilliant - minus Quinn.

So, I think you make some great points. Personally, I did enjoy this season, and Dexter easily remained one of the shows I look forward to most every week. However, most times I watch it I tend to have had a drink or two and as a result kind of take it at face-value just as pure entertainment. I also really enjoyed season five--even more than season four, but I know that I'm a minority. I thought it was interesting to see Dexter develop a relationship with someone who could truly know him and accept him for who he is, even if she didn't want to be with him.
But anyway, just to put my opinion out there, these are the things I did like about this season:
I found the "tableau's" to be really fascinating because they were just so horrifying and intricate. That being said, I think they definitely grew less interesting at the end of the season. The last one that had any intrigue was Travis's sister.
I really liked the Brother Sam storyline and I thought his character was very lika

I have been watching this show from the very beginning. I never miss an episode and I think it is one of the best shows on TV and has been since it aired. With that being said I think the direction they took this season with the Deb/Dexter emotions makes sense when you look at the show and season as a whole. First, have we all forgotten who Deb was first in love with and almost married? Brian, Dexter's brother. Look at that season, the writers created a character which was Dexter but without Harry's Code. They very early on showed who Dexter would have been without Harry and Deb fell for him hard! Even the character of Lundy was a foil for Dexter. The writers showed this is how similar Dexter and Lundy would piece things together in order to find Trinity. They showed how a mind like Dexter's could have been used if it was not for his Dark Passenger. Both Brian and Lundy had an element of Dexter's personality and those were the only characters Deb has fallen in love with. The others wer

Here are my thoughts on the finale and the season as a whole in no particular order:
I liked personally liked the "villains" and the reveal that Gellar was not real. I did not see it coming and it made Travis even creepier/crazier. I also enjoyed the mystery with Louis, as I really have no idea where they are going with this angle.
However, I agree this season had a lot to be desired. The whole Quinn situation was pitiful. With the new detective from Chicago around (can't remember his name), Quinn should have been transferred. End of story on that one.
Looking back on seasons past, the writers and producers were very good in making everything careful, believable and with a purpose - you know because Dexter is careful and has a purpose. This season was totally off. First off, why did Dexter immediately start hindering the police investigation and go off on his own to stop the killers (I realized he must do this after he exposed himself to Travis). Originally, Dexter targe

Cmon people it's not really incest if dexter is adopted and not her BLOOD brother chill it had to be done or deb wouldnt understand dexters dark passenger.

I thought this season was phenomenal minus the incestuous ways of deb. Had a nice stray from the previous episodes and had many twists. Much different than any other season, the religious aspect was awesome. A new way to justify the killings. However, I am not to fond of the finale. I wish it would have went into more depth about Deb finding him killing Travis. It left with to much of a cliff hanger to wait until next year for the new season. Other than that, it was an incredible season.

I completely agree with this article's author, Matt Richenthal. "Dexter" (the series) was great because Dexter was very smart in going about his 'business,' and as a backdrop, Deb was tough as nails but caring.
As the show has gone on, however, they've now got Dexter doing utterly stupid thing. I mean, come on - like Dexter wouldn't happen to think about Travis having his wallet and keys right off the bat? Especially once they discover the murdered couple and realize Travis must need another place to stay until the end of the world?? Please.
Then they've got Deb turned into a twelve year old emotionally, acting like an emotional hysteric rather than a tough seasoned detective who's had to prove her ability to NOT behave in that fashion for years just to get to the position of detective to begin with? Add the entire 'psychologist' guiding Deb into supposedly realizing she's 'in love' with her brother bs into the mix and this has been a pathetic direction for the show to drop i

Umm...what the hell?! I haven't seen the finale, but my sister and I have already decided that if Dexter and Deb get together we aren't watching. It's totally gross and unnecessary. Agreed..."what were the writers thinking"??!!!

I don’t think it’s really “incest-y” when we’re presented with the whole Dex/Deb thing. It’s more like we’re just not used to seeing them that way, because they’ve always been in the audience’s eyes as “bro/sis” so to see them in a wholly different angle is strange. Having said that, come on! Give the writer’s a break! Sure this wasn’t the best season, far from it. I enjoyed the fact that dexter didn’t have any love interest, woman problems= boring dexter. He just went back to good ‘ol killing. I do agree with what the producer for Dexter said though: Dexter executive producer Sara Colleton told The Hollywood Reporter that the finale would set up the final two seasons of the Showtime drama and that Deb’s growth over the series has been tantamount in setting the table for how the series ultimately ends.
“We want to lay the groundwork to have the most interesting way into examining how Deb will react,” Colleton told THR, citing Deb letting Lumen escap

Man, I just can't get over how insanely over the top people's reactions are to the whole incest angle. How bout we list the number of shows with an incest angle somewhere in the mix: Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Six Feet Under, Weeds, Dexter... any I'm missing? It's part of reality. Also, I can't get over all the people who are so repulsed and sickened. Yes, it's repulsive and sick. BUT THIS IS A SHOW ABOUT A PSYCHOPATHIC SERIAL KILLER. There is nowhere near this level of reaction whenever a show has a murder, or a rape, or child molestation, or child murder or pedophiles...for some reason incest is apparently the number one worst thing in the history of the world. Seems a bit off.

It's funny when one doesn't like an episode of a show or a movie, they decide to point out events that "aren't believable" i.e. Travis being in Dexter's apartment and not taking his son there. Is that really more unbelievable than anything else that has happened in any episode of Dexter ever? Not to mention, it could have been easy to finagle. Travis could've knocked whatsherface out without her ever getting a look at him. Or, while she is taking a nap. Doesn't matter. They do ridiculous damage control for Dexter's secret life all the time. All the times he almost got caught by Rita? They could've done it there. It may have been easier this way but not impossible the other. Nothing is believable if you become detached. Sorry you were insulted that Gellar was dead. If you're so concerned with your intelligence being insulted, read a good book.

Considering the season as a whole, the only scenes worth watching were the final few minutes of this episode. 99% of the rest was utter garbage. I weep for this show... it used to be must-see tv, but now it's 'I don't care tv'.

The show lost its way after they killed Rita. They had nowhere to go after that season. You can't top that finale and they killed all of Dexter's love interests (Lila, Rita). Killing Rita in Season 4 was a huge mistake. That should have been saved for the final season.
Overall I thought this season was pretty decent. I think everyone who is up in arms on the whole deb/dex relationship need to chill out a little. I think it was used as a catalyst to set up the final moments of the finale. I don't think they will be counting ceiling tiles together soon.
Look the s4 finale was obviously the best but, as cliffhangers go I thought this was really great. When the episode ended I found myself pissed off I have to wait sooo long to see what happens with deb and dex. I guess that means the writers did their job well!!!

I dug the brother Sam/dexter introspection, it was a nice deviation from the boring vendetta crap we got drug through last season and at least it tied in interestingly with the whole Jesus/ apocalyptica of this season serial killer du jour. I hate the deb angle. The whole thing but I understand why they felt they had to do it. I mean once they place the chick in therapy they have to by necessity have something deep for her to mull. What more integral to her character as a whole than her relationship with dexter dear. Icky a direction as they took it. If it was me I would have written in some regressed memories of seeing him kill something as a kid bring up suspicions as to what it is he does with all that extra time off. But what do I know. I'm just your average non- incestuous television viewer

I find it a little strange that Dexter and Deb are divorced in real life.
All things considered, I thought thus season was pretty decent. I think everyone needs to chill out a little bit on the deb/dex relationship. I think that was simply added to build up to the moment. I doubt they will be counting ceiling tiles together next season. That best finale was s4 obviously, but as cliffhangers go, this one was great. When it ended I found myself pissed off I have to wait so long to see what happens next ...the writers did their job well!!

The Deb, Dexter scenario is granted something odd and difficult to chew down, but honestly this is a large vast world in reality. And what those two have been through, survived through and behold together is bond strengthening, and yes they grew up with one another blah, blah, blah, the potential for them to be together in that context can and does happen. Season as a whole little weak, little weak, still entertaining nonetheless, I think the problem of must viewers and ravers is that; we place too much on the backs of Seasons 4, and 1. But why not enjoy the seasons all for what they are? Entertainment. As far as I feel nothing will out beat those two mentioned seasons. They hold a strength on their own. Dexter is a good show, with it's flaws, (but what show doesn't?) I for one can not wait for the new season.

I dont understand why everyone is so up in arms about Debs feelings for Dexter... its psychology.. this sort of thing happens. As far as deb being overcome by these feelings.. that is only keeping with her character. When, in any other situation has deb not jumped the gun on things because of her emotions??
If you really think about it.. are Deb and Dex going to get together? I highly doubt it. Things will probably level out and Deb will realize its not the best course of action to take. It will be awkward, it might get messy for a while.. .but in the end i think it will strengthen their bond. And lest we not forget... this show is, at its core, about Dexter's journey. The other characters DONT matter... as much as you or I might want them too, they are only instruments driving dexters inner monologue. That is why the show is called DEXTER and not DEXTER and FRIENDS... if you think anything that has happened with dexter specifically in the show to this point is ridiculous..
I liked that Dex was still in the ocean at the beginning of the episode. I figured he'd just amazingly be back @ home or somewhere with no explanation of how he got out of the middle of the ocean. The random kill of the coyote in front of a bunch of people was pretty cheesy though! Epic fail by the writers this year,I really do hope the last two seasons finish out strong so it can save it's legacy b/c Dex is definitly one of my top 5 favorite characters of all time!!! Such good story lines can come from Deb knowing, just hope they don't drop the ball AGAIN!!
