I think the reviewer makes some pretty valid points. The storylines were totally random--none of the existing arcs seems to have advanced much and Sue was uncharacteristically sweet, which only frightens me for what she might be planning. And as funny as Nene "Pookie an' 'em" Leakes' character was, it seemed like a desperate attempt at ratings.
If you want some input about the music, I thought we were headed for an episode loaded with dated tunes after "Summer Lovin'" and "Wedding Bell Blues"--good performances these kids weren't even ALIVE when these songs were popular. Good save with "Moves Like Jagger" though I could have done without the "Jumping Jack Flash" mashup. The synchro swim number was well done though if you wanna talk dated.....And as for the upcoming MJ tribute, WHY?!?!?!!?!?

Being the mother of a disabled child I found Helen Mirren's brillant performance of Becky's inner voice both beautiful and inspiring. Who are you to say that a Down's child doesn't have the most perfect inner British accent regardless of the words they are saying?

@Lea: Yes, I want build up that is actually spread out through a season. Why must six characters be featured each week? Imagine if we actually had one episode that focused on Finn's desire to join the army... and then one where he learned about his father and struggled with that reality... and then one where he proposed to Rachel.
That's how, you know, actual TV shows are written: with storylines planned out well in advance and given ample time to develop.

@Matt: I don't get it. Really. You hate everything being crammed into one episode yet you want build-up for everything? Like your first reply, you took an example at Beiste not getting 'a build-up' moment? Seriously? Beiste is just a guest-star and you want them to focus on her? What's wrong with you? Have you seen Artie, Brittany, Tina and Damian? They are underdeveloped and you want them to build up a moment for Beiste's elope? Oh please.
And Glee is special for its 'music' yet you find no single place in your review to actually review the songs they cover? But you just decide, "Ooh, let's bash on the storyline and bash and bash!"
And what's with that attitude in your review, "When it returns...with a random Michael Jackson tribute episode. Sigh". You bash at the episode even before it airs. very cute.

I really can't comment on the show much. My boredorm with all things Glee started last season and I can't even bring myself to watch it anymore. I absolutely detest Sue, Will is boring and they've gone with way too many show tunes. Big thumbs down on this show. Hoping it actually gets cancelled and they put something in that time slot worth watching.

I love that everyone is randomly telling the reviewer that he sucks, and when he brings up the VERY valid points, everyone ignores him. You can't just blindly love a tv show and then get mad that a tv critic might not like it. That is his job, it's not being a 'hater', it's being honest. I still watch glee in the hope that it will get better, but if Finn and Rachel actually get married I am done.

This was the best episode of Glee this season. It was fantastic, loved it! The singing was awesome, I really enjoyed it. I loved the "Grease" scene with Mercedes and Sam (both very talented), and the water scene when Will proposed to Emma (very original) LOVED IT!!. I'm so happy they're finally doing storylines about some of the other cast members (sometimes its just too much Rachel-Finn). Overall, this episode was very sentimental and it left me smiling, keep up the good work.

This show is sooo stupid, i don’t know why people watch it. The only thing this show is doing is ruining Original song for the rest of us.
Hey Matt, I have to say, I agree with you in most of the points you made. One of my girlfriends was over to watch last night and I can't tell you how many times we laughed at parts of the show.
Wemma - We have known this was coming, but you are right. We do go episodes at a time without a real scene between the two.
I didn't mind the Finn joins the Army idea. I didn't even hate the abrupt information of his father. But we couldn't help laugh that Finn goes ring shopping, and will be the best man, and be at the bachelor party. Don't forget. Mr Shue is his teacher/club adviser. it's weird.
Finn proposing to Rachel? I get it. The singing? On par as per usual. I also agree about Sam and Mercedes. How can we root for a couple we have barely seen? I almost forgot she had that big football boyfriend because we haven't seen him either.

I also take exception to the argument that I "trash Glee every week." Please go back and read my reviews over the course of the series. You'll be hard-pressed to find a bigger Gleek. I've despised the last two episodes, no doubt, and I think the show has gone downhill (and I'm not alone, ratings have plunged on season three) since season one... but I don't follow the logic that I have problems with Glee now and therefore should not review it.
My job isn't to gush over a TV show. It's to assess it honestly. By all means, I welcome your feedback and various opinions - but to say writers on this site should only cover shows they like sort of misses the entire point of reviewing a show.

@BrazilianGleeLover: Why isn't it meant to be reviewed as a drama? Please go find quotes from the creator of the show himself, Ryan Murphy. Think back to Glee's bullying storyline... heck, just watch last night's episode!
You don't think Glee is trying to be a dramatic, impactful TV show? If it wanted to truly be all about music, then go ahead and cover 15 songs in an hour; that would be totally different. Just choose a path and stick to it.
But my issue is that there clearly are many times when it wants to tug on our heartstrings, yet doesn't earn those emotional moments because there's no build-up, the storylines have no flow and they are all crammed together into one hour of television. This episode was a prime example.

I agree with Steve's comment. The reviewer obviously doesn't like the show and ends up trashing it every single week. I totally disagree. It's a fun, entertaining show and not meant to be reviewed as a drama.

@Matt: I addressed this before in a comment, but the hiding of the wedding magazines took place on October 4. If anything, that supports my argument that we go weeks and weeks without a peep from Wemma.
I also think Sue's "character growth" is a prime example of how disorganized the show is. Do you really think she won't be back to dissing every member of New Directions next week? Having a character act caring one moment and like a total jerk the next is not "growth." It's a sign of a show with no direction.
I don't understand overall this idea that I can't analyze Glee like a regular show. Because the characters sing, that gives the writers license to not attempt any kind of rational storytelling?

I am so sorry but I think that it's time for you to back off, Matt. The only thing you do is complain about every single negative aspect of the show but you didn't even mention the good performance of Jayma Mays, the positive development of the couple Samcedes, etc etc. The only thing that you care about is to criticise the same show that you obviously dislike. What about Hold On To Sixteen? It was a great episode and you review was super short. If you don't like what you're doing, please go away. You're reviews make me angry.
And yes, Glee is random. It always was like that, specially in season 1. So, why do you look so surprised? Whatever, I'm not reading any of your reviews anymore, they are complete trash. Thank you for your time.

I'm split on this episode. First of all, how did Nene end up on this show? I'm not complaining at all but whatttttt? The storylines were messy, but I really enjoyed the songs. That's what it comes down to for me. Rachel was flawless singing "Without You" I actually might like it better than the original. Also, despite Will's hideous tuxedo, I was all smiley and misty eyed during the proposal scene to "We Found Love." Just sayin', being afraid of the future is pretty much one of the worst reasons to marry someone. Also, does Schue actually have no adult friends? Why is the glee club the first people he tells? This episode was all about every emotion of the heart. I guess a girl might be more inclined to feel and see it. I agree about Wemma were dropped of a cliff after s1 finale. S2 was a detriment to their characters. S3 nothing til now. Although there was no lead into Will's proposal it was due time for Wemma. People IRL have bad news dealt them and the way they handle it can make them grow to be better people-Finn. Rachel and Kurt did not notice Finn's pain only their own issues and their effects. Showed all 3 were at a loss to be there for another. Finn proposed for the wrong reason. This propelled His story arc to find his dream. Music beautiful. One of the best this season.
