Could it be that she wants back in because she seems to have excelled at making truly mediocre movies that aren't netting her as much money as she'd hoped? Just a thought....

The network ABC fires people! Not Shonda. ABC fired Isaiah cuz of what he said. And both TR and Katherine got let off their contracts cuz they wanted to leave on their own.
I would love it if she came back, Alex and Izzie are my OTP, but I doubt that it will happen. Shonda is not all forgiving and forgetting. maybe guest starring, but I doubt that she would really join the show again as a cast member.

Perhaps Derek will leave cuz the show will interfere with Dempsey's racing schedule. In which case, Meredith should leave also. Which means there will be room in the cast next season for Izzie, and Lexie will be the main Grey.
You've gotta hand it to Katherine for actually saying she wants to come back, after doing all those films and being successful, that's humbling that she wants to do the show again. Also, she probably feels bad for all the things she said. Lots of magazines have interviewed her since her departure and she said many time that she feels bad and that she doesn't want a bad reputation so she probably wants to change.

If she really wanted back she had the perfect oppurtunity for this "What if" episode! i really miss her she is such a great actress and Izzie gave the show something emotional and real, something human!
Let's see what is heading to us in the last few episodes!

@Duca Oana, maybe not big or fat, but totally a bitch, she killed off a lot of characters, i think she was angry on TR because of him she had to fire Isaiah W. it's not like she wanted to, she had to. That's why she wanted TR out.

I say it should be left to the network and the cast. Personal I don't mind if she comes back but you know the saying "don't burn bridges because you don't know when or if you got to cross them again" and let's be honest what she did seen like she burned bridges. She left the show on bad terms. I have to agree with the other people it look very much like she left Grey's Anatomy to star in movies. However, I could be wrong because I don't no her life. But yes network and cast apporival because Grey's Anatomy cast seem to be alright now. There no offscreen fights. So I think the cast should get some imput on the waying of her coming back.
@delphincik why do you say that Shonda is not far from being a big fat bitch? You've made me wondering if it's something that we don't know,a story or something like this.
On topic: Yeah it would be awesome if Izzie would come back! Yeeey "blonde girl"!

um, TR wasn't fired, he was sick of not getting good storylines. I think Katherine Heigl has to suck it up if she wants to get back- she said some pretty bitchy things at the end of her time

I think it would be so interesting to have Izzie brought back to the show. The question of where she would be in her life and how Alex could fit into that will be really great to watch. I think the writers have also had a tricky time pairing Alex with somebody so Izzie's return would make perfect sense in a way.
However, it might be easy to bring a character back but bringing the actor back is a different story. Surely it will take a lot of negotiations and discussions for Shonda and ABC to work out Heigl's return. She had a messy exit so a messy return can be expected. And as @Dexter Idolizer said, ABC is on their toes with the contract negotiations of the original cast which means their focus is most likely there.
Also @emy26, I'm not sure how the logistics of these shows go but I'm pretty Shonda doesn't hold the ultimate power to fire an actor. ABC has a bigger hand there. They were the ones who ultimately made the decision to let Isiah go. And TR left because he wanted to.

@Emy26: I'm pretty sure Shonda herself would have been fired from ABC if "she didn't forgive tr himself when he came out gay.". Shonda is completely against homophobia. After all, she's had at least 3 main gay characters on the show and numerous guest stars playing gay/lesbian couples.

i would love for katherine heigl to return but shonda rhimes does not forgive. she didn't forgive isaiah washington for making a foul out of the show after calling tr the f word, and she didn't forgive tr himself when he came out gay. so there's no way in hell that shonda is gonna allow heigl to come back. shonda is a woman you do not wanna cross if you're an actor on grey's, cause if you do, you're done, and that's what heigl did.

Katherine Heigl leaving Grey's Anatomy to "spend time with her daughter" was a lie in my opinion. She's starred in how many movies since leaving the show? 4? 5? If you're going to leave a show to spend time with your child, that is fine to be honest, but she's jumped from film-to-film. I'm not saying I don't want her back, because I do love Izzie and I'd love an Izzie-Alex reunion, but I think she's getting ahead of herself to think ABC would just let her back on. ABC are still in contract negotiations with the original cast, so I think ABC will put them before Heigl. But overall, yes! Bring back Isobel Stevens!

yes it would be nice to have her back... but wouldn't it kind of be the same thing as when Addison Shepherd came back. She left and came back and ended up staying and Derek had to decide what to do... the same basic thing would happen with Izzie and Alex.
