NCIS 200th Episode Spoilers: Gibbs to Ask "What If" ...

at . Comments

Gibbs will travel down memory lane and then some February 7th when NCIS airs its 200th episode. The milestone event, titled "Life Before His Eyes," explores certain "What If" angles, according to TV Line.

Executive producer Gary Glasberg tells Matt Mitovich, “It very much is about a pivotal moment that Gibbs faces."

"It literally looks back at key moments through nine years of NCIS where decisions had to be made, and had people gone in one direction instead of another, how the world would have ended up.”

Our Fearless Leader

With 199 episodes worth of material, and some events that fans recall intimately years after the fact, NCIS could go in any number of directions with this. Including bringing back some old faces.

Glasberg says that in the much-hyped 200th episode, will be “familiar faces, old faces, and faces the fans didn’t think they’d see again…. It was a lot of fun. It was a challenge, but it was a lot of fun.”

At the end of the day, Gibbs comes away from the episode with “the realization that the decisions he has made were meant to be. As he looks around NCIS, he realizes that this is where he should be.”

Much of the installment takes place in large part at a diner, never before seen on NCIS, Gibbs gets his morning coffee - he goes there a lot, obviously. It will also look at existing relationships differently.

Tony and Ziva will meet, for instance, but under circumstances that mark a drastic departure from how it went down years ago, as Kate (Sasha Alexander) has never left us in this alternate universe.

Mike Franks (Muse Watson) will be one of the familiar faces making a cameo.

“For the first time, I didn’t know what was going to happen [in a scene],” Michael Weatherly says of the scene. “I literally had to concoct in my mind seven years of ‘What if there was no Ziva in Tony’s life?’”

“The character [Cote de Pablo] brought was so different from her normal Ziva.”

Vance, conspicuously absent from this week's NCIS and other recent installments, will still be the agency's director, however, “There are some real weird, dreamlike juxtapositions,” Rocky Carroll said.

“There are a lot of surreal, ‘How did we all end up at the same table?’ moments.”

One scene sure to get people talking? Gibbs is approached by a hooded stranger at the diner, toting a pistol. As he IDs himself, a shot is fired from someone’s gun. Make of that what you will in the comments below.

UPDATE: The episode format is said to be loosely based on the 1998 movie, Sliding Doors.

Dear Darcie, good to have you back!Your story of Kate and her sharing her buylistlck in your news letter reminds me of my beloved Lady. Her adopted brother Tramp had a brother and sister of his own. They lived across the street from us. One day Tramp's real sister came over to play with Lady and Tramp. I let his sister Sally in the house and Lady and Tramp were happy to see her. On the way to our back door you had to pass by Lady and Tramps food dishes. I knew Sally was not getting proper nutrition at home. With Lady following right behind Sally, Sally stopped at Lady's food bowel and began to eat. Lady stood by and watched her eat from her bowel. Never a growl, no agression, nothing. Lady stood, watched and looked around to make sure no one was going to disturb Sally while she ate. When Sally finished eating she drank from Lady and Tramps water bowel and then I let the three out into our back yard to play. It was almost like Lady knew that Sally was Tamps real sister and shared her food with Sally. The memory came rushing back when you described Kate sharing!Gotta love them Darcie, they are just wonderful!Darcie, sorry to hear there may be a problem with Gibbs. It is 02:51 hrs 13-09-11 and I will offer a prayer for you and Gibbs to the Spirit-in-the- Sky, for you, Gibbs, Kate and of course Sit-Stay!

oh no, not Sasha... here we go with the Kate vs Ziva thing again.. she is dead , let it go.

Well it's not rocket science here.. Let us hope however that Gibbs can finally forgive himself and let the guilt and the 'darkness' go -- we have heard so much about the episode that the 'secret' is pretty much out -- Just do us a favor and leave our Tiva alone.. please.. I am looking forward to it -- yet part of me is not. I can't put my finger on it except to say it's one of those episodes that every show seems the need to do..but in the case of Gibbs, probably the character needed it more than the writers. You have done good Gibbs.. and your decisions for better or worse have changed the lives of those that love you and you love. Period.

I was Shocked to see Gibbs get shot !!!!!!!!!! Life with out Gibbs? It just wouldn't work !!!! WOW something you don't think about. he's like 50 % of the show !!!

I think that Kate will be back, but shell find ou about Ari and kill him before Ziva can, making Ziva and Kate each other, but still setting up for Tiva (Tony + Ziva) and also Gibbs and Abby finding there Father Daughter.

Kate comes back as an alternate decision as if she never died, she's not coming back to life... This episode's going to go through the 9yrs of NCIS and show what would have happened to NCIS if they made different choices, like Kate living so no probie Ziva, or maybe Gibbs staying retired and how NCIS would be... So in the end we see why the show made those choices and maybe so we are grateful for the show the way it is lol... I love NCIS and I can't wait to see how it would have been under different circumstances...

I love the show, I feel that it's time that Tony and Ziva stop beating around the bush and tell each other that they love each other and get married. I also feel that it would be a weird but fantastic season 9 finally if at the end Gibbs finds out that Tony somehow is really his Son! It wouldn't be that far fetched conciderng Gibbs considers Tony to almost already be like Son to him and Tony feels the same way about Gibbs being like a father to him, plus Gibbs never seen a picture of Tony's mother so it could be written in!!!

Is Sasha Alexander really coming back?! Yayyyyyyy!!!!

Sooo... Is Sasha Alexander gonna make an appearance or not?? I'm super curious!

Wde haven't met one of Gibbs' exes...what if she's the shooter?

McGee: All right. Well you should probably know that Abby and I used to date?
Bishop: Ew. Like, each other?
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: Wait - isn't that a violation of rule 12, never date a....
McGee: It was a long time ago. After we'd broken up, one night I went to her lab. Found a scribbled piece paper; a list. Potential boyfriends had to fulfill certain conditions by a pre-arranged date or else, goodbye.
Bishop: Such as.
McGee: Things started off relatively normal: opening the door for her, flowers, putting the seat down. Then around number 8, it gets uh...
Bishop: What?
McGee: Does she know you have these?
Bishop: Does she know you have these?
McGee: Yeah she wasn't happy when she found out.
Bishop: These are all very specific.
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: These ideas apply to you?
McGee: No those rules weren't in place when we were together. At least I don't think so.
Bishop: What's with the two month cutoff? Abby's sabotaging herself. I've seen stuff like this before. We have to talk to her.

Tony: One other question, I know you're an expert in English history. And I was just wondering, have you ever heard of Archibald Drummond, the 17th Earl of Trent?
Ducky: The Earl of Trent. No, I can't say I have. Why?
Tony: I was just wondering. Thanks.
