The CW has ordered the pilot for a show about a show, courtesy of Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.

Titled Cult, the drama will center on the production assistant of a TV series - also titled Cult - who teams up with an investigative blogger because the pair suspect fans of the fictional series are actually carrying out crimes depicted on the program.

Follow all that?

Cult is the first show on any network to have its pilot picked up. If it's officially ordered, look for the drama to be included on the network's fall schedule.

And they are going to do a whole season based around that?

Interesting premise. I'm on board with @Dexter Idolizer. I'd give it a go.

I find the synopsis somewhat reminiscent of Castle. In the first episode, the killer was replicating deaths mentioned in Castle's books.

I'll give the pilot ago. Josh Schwartz has never let me down.
But this just has me curious... What show is going to get canceled in order to make room for this?

Confusing and boring synopsis... not interested.

That doesn't sound very interesting
