@Maci. He's ring doesn't malfunction. The ring only works against supernatural things. Getting hit by a car it's not a supernatural thing.
That's the same reason Jeremy died at the end of Season 2.
Alaric saves Jeremy and the fallout from that is that he goes in the emergency room and meets Torrey DeVitto's character which is recurring.

I think it's about Alaric and Jeremy. because in the promo we see jeremy walking in front of a car and Alaric running after him. and lucky you for having just 1 day of waiting. i have 2 days, because here in Romania we don't have CW and I see it online....and giving the fact that here is 8 hours later...i get to see the episode on Friday :(

saving a life is not exactly a spoiler nor tease. That happens every episode.
SOmeone IMPORTANT almost dies and then gets saved. Thousands of extras get killed without purpose.
