five years they made us focus chair and we had lots of fun and drama with chair. now dair is almost happening. are u kiddin me. i will definitely stop watching this show

@GG, I'm not entirely sure if you are aware of this but you do realize that you used an affirmative sexual language implying a Pro Dair stance with a negative connotation to an unknown female recipient? I.e. given what semantics and how they are used in the English language.

@CC Gossip Girl doesn't need another season, there's nothing new or good they can offer at this point, everything is repetitive. They've ruined pretty much every character/relationship on this show.

i really think that chuck and blair really belong together... dan is just a confused child... he jumps from one girl to another and says he loves them but easily gets over them. while chuck's love for blair is everlasting.... i dont mind is dan and blair get together but it wont last because her heart is with chuck and always will be... the writers are just wasting their time...... their just dragging the season on and on.... its so annoying. get serena and dan back together, he was the only guy that understood her and brought her back to reality

@Anonymous I'd take it a step further- not only can the current team not develop relationships or characters proprely but they can't even construct plausible plots. Or ANY plot. Nothing happens on the show! At this point, GG is relying on the character's histories and shock moments. It's clear the series is spinning its wheels until the end. Man, can you guys even imagine a 6th season?
@Dover I too would've loved to have seen Dan and Blair's friendship actually, you know, develop. Why does everything important on this show happen off-screen?

@CC Idk, in an interview, he whined about complaints that fans have made about the series and then he mentioned how he likes pissing them off for some reason.
@dover and @Maribells All of the characters seem to be pining over each other. These writers don't seem to know how to develop relationships or characters at all for that matter.

@ Maribells: What pisses me off even more is that Dair did have great potential. Becoming friends was great character development for both Dan and Blair. But in the beginning of season 5 they were all of a sudden such good friends that Blair rather confided in Dan then in Serena. That seems totally rushed and nonsensical to me since at the end of season 4 they weren´t this close. I would´ve enjoyed actually seeing them become close friends, not being informed that they just suddenly are.
Coming back to see if I was right to stop watching gossip girl since the winter break, I find that I am happy with my decision when I read this article. What they are doing to Blair's character is nonsense. Dan is a coward, an arrogant and pathetic suiter. How could she fall so low? Sad ending for a show who used to be so fun to watch.

I agree so much with this. I hate what's happened to all of the characters *except* Chuck (and even he's been kind of depressing this season, he just keeps getting hurt over and over again while he tries to do the right thing). Dan, who I used to like, has become intolerable. Blair, I can't even understand anymore, and she used to be the most sympathetic on the show. Serena, at least, seems more focused and less flaky than she used to be, but all she gets to do is pine over Dan while he treats her with indifference at best and hostility at worst. They've ruined so much about the characters that I used to like, and based on these promo pics, it's just going to get worse.

@dover Great summary of S5. I don't CARE who gets w/whom anymore, just give these characters something to do that doesn't not involve pining for someone. @Anonymous Why is Josh attacking fans anyway? Is he not aware that we're the one's that put food on his table? Incompetent idiot for sure! Also, you hit the nail on the head re: the writers being incapable of depicting relationship (hence my fear of Dair).
Note on AU 'ships Love 'em. In the past I'd have been down for Chenny, Cherena, Dair, etc.

@Ace i agree! Dair should've remained friends or gotten together last season. The intro. of Louis & the whole royals SL ruined the progression of Dair (& Chair, Blair...the whole show). Will Blair seriously jump into something w/Dan after professing her love for Chuck, being trapped in a sham marriage & having miscarriage?!. D/B's banter & unexpected friendship is what made them fun to watch but that's been non-existent this season. I don't really consider what B/D have a friendship this season. Rather, Dan is Blair's lapdog. It always about HER problems & him being at her back and call. God, I really dislike Blair. I hope Dan realizes she's become a loon & tells her to F off like Louis did! Then Chuck should follow suit.
Still, Dair is going to happen & Chair/Derena shippers should either deal w/it or turn the channel. I hope it's enjoyable but idk how the overall terrible writing will suddenly improve. It'll be up to the actor's to save the material, m
Chair is so overrated. If Dair can't happen, then AT LEAST let Blair stop bickering/picking on Dan and let them be actual friends.

I'll be so excited if the writers DARE to dair - give me a scene where blair kissed dan and i'll be happy. Chair can be endgame for all I care, but DAIR MUST be happening... at least I hope it is. Be brave writer's there's 50% of the fan base that is looking for something new and OMFG worthy.
Of course, I'd be interested to see chuck's reaction... considering it seems highly unfair of B to confess her feelins to him then marry louis anyway and then run off with dan -- but the plot lines of these storylines have been soapy so you never know.

I'm agree with @Marry that friendship is love. But another kind of love. And I have one friend like Dan. We share the joys and disappointments, we read the same books, like the same movies, we rely on each other in difficult times and love him, but there is no spark between us. To get between two people must have passion, desire to start every time they touched. When I was 20 my grandmother used to say that any problem with my boyfriend I can fix it in bed ... Remember "The Notebook". They had nothing in common except a passion.And constantly quarreling, but their passion drew them to each other and they were happy together. I'm not seeing this chemistry between Dan and Blair.

Coming back to see if I was right to stop watching gossip girl since the winter break, I find that I am happy with my decision when I read this article. What they are doing to Blair's character is nonsense. Dan is a coward, an arrogant and pathetic suiter. How could she fall so low? Sad ending for a show who used to be so fun to watch.

I agree so much with this.
