Well I cheated and read some of the review before I got a chance to view the episode and as a CHAIR fan and my heard did plunge when it found out that they had kissed. I watched the show a day later expecting the worst but you know what it wasn't that bad. To me its quite clear, Blair is going through alot of emotional trauma, shes lost a baby, being blackmailed by a husband, is in love with someone she has a lot of history with and is tempted by a man who loves her, and is a fantastic friend! Confronted in that situation you can easily see why she kissed back. She is looking for comfort, and as I said confused! DAIR will have their little bit of spotlight - and they deserve it, they have GREAT chemistry, but as friends. Blair and Chuck belong together, have their own amazing chemistry too, and they will end up together.

As I see it neither Blair or Serena are mature enough to sustain a real relationship with anyone. Blair would grow bored with Dan very quickly I think.

you know what puzzles me.. is that people seem to have forgot that dan wrote a whole book about his closed friends, he has criticizing and judging them the whole time. he wrote serena as a trash bag and blair as the better one WTF... chuck was there for him when nobody else was and the keeps on trying to make chuck look bad in blairs eye. the people that want dan and blair together are just sick. you cant even compare ed\leighton and penn\leighton. people that said that kiss last episode was sexy ... WTF... I MISSED THAT !

For me the essence of Dair is best captured by this sublime verse: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
From the moment he fell in love with her, these lines sum up everything that Dan has been to Blair, and the opposite of what Chuck has been to her. Given her intelligence, her zest for life and not being apologetic about wanting the best for herself, it is inevitable that Blair would choose Dan.
However, given that how much of the conclusion depends on the "whims and fancies" of the creators of this show (who have gone on record saying their characters may do something one second and a completely inconsistent thing the next) ...sigh...I doubt Dair will happen.

As much fun as it was to watch Chair after a while it became so boring and predictable. I mean one can only cheat and let your partner down and play games and lie and scheme and always try to be one up on the other for only so long. At some point, something's gotta give, because they are never truly living in the moment - it's always about the next thrill. And as fun as that was in high school, it is clear from Blair's characterization that she is very ambitious, wants a career, wants to be respected and be an achiever etc. Dan brought out that side of her by nurturing it. Dan and Blair complement each other so well - Blair gives Dan that joie de vivre he lacks and Dan gives her that stability and security she needs.

It's in Chace Crawford's rider lol. "Sleeping with guest stars." He even managed a man-on-man lip-lock in the Inside sequence.
Now a Date union is something I would also support. Bring back the bromance!

Weird that Lilly has NOT contacted Cece when she was looking for Charly, right? And weird that Rufus knew that Lilly was at the Empire and Chivy wainting for her at the apartment and he did not tell either of them. The writers make so many mistakes it is unbelievable.
Anyway I hate Dair. I still do not get how people can love this and how Dan could fall for Blair. But I guess everyone had to hook up with everyone at least once in this show, right? I see Cherena coming haha :D
Apart from the bad storyline and the many many mistakes I really LOVED Blair's dress ;)

(Contd.) I once more enjoyed the thrill that Chair was.I enjoyed how dynamic Ed Westwick and therefore Chuck is.I shook my head, as we all have done, at the crazy plot lines and convoluted story arcs! It took this review to see the present state of the characters in a better perspective. And as far as that goes I think the writers have done sort of an okay job!I do see progression in our leads.IMO,the biggest mistake with the writers was that suddenly the whole focus shifted from Serena to Blair & while I always liked Blair (Meester) more, this shift meant that they just could not handle giving equal prominence to each character & plot and soon GG became all about the famous triangle!
Coming back to character progression, from every point it is so clear that Chair just cannot be end game. This Dair, this crazy relationship, born out of indifference, then enmity, then friendship and then love - this is the one constant through all the episodes and all roads MUST lead to Dair.

Can't help coming back to the discussions page! And will keep coming here every week! So I was watching reruns of GG's first seasons (again!) and then selected episodes of the recent ones and they further increased my convictions that Dair and only Dair can and should be end game.
Dair may not be the expected choice, Dair may not be the popular choice, Dair may be the underdog - but hey you know what, sometimes - the unexpected HAPPENS, the popular choice is not always the RIGHT one and, every once in a while, it is the underdog who triumphs! (Contd.)

@Ace I hope the Chair fans or any other fans for that matter to leave, I'd like to see Gossip Girl dip under 1 million.
Charmed actually does better than Gossip Girl, which only gets about a 0.2 in repeats, which isn't really good by any standards.
What the CW needs to do is to broaden their audience, they probably need to clean up most of their shows, they need to change things up. Being the 'Gossip Girl' network has not helped them out a bit, they've only gotten worse and worse.

That's the only reason why season 5 will not end with a series finale. They'll use syndication, whether or not its successful, to justify the next and last season. And even though repeat demos show low numbers, that's repeat demos on the same network. Syndicated shows will have an adjusted formula given it'll be on an entirely different time slot and a newer audience based on what other network picks it up. Similiar to ABC/Lifetime when it syndicates Grey's, or TBBT to CBS/TBS/FOX. Even with canceled shows, TNT still profits from syndicated shows like Charmed and Angel.

I completely agree with how mismanaged the CW was. I mean as soon as the WB stopped being what it was, it was a slow decline that has increased in its decline more rapidly as years have progressed.
I was just evoking that if the CHAIR ships perform a mass exodus of the show, GG will still survive up to season 6, where it's likely that it'll be the last season anyway. Having seasons beyond 6 is doubtful.

@Ace The CW suffered from poor decision making, Dawn Ostroff ruined the network by limiting her viewers/audience to 18-49 range and ruined successful WB/UPN shows. If nothing is done to try and fix these problems, it will continue to get worse. There's a reason why the big networks (CBS, FOX, ABC, and even NBC (to an extent)) don't use the CW's system because it clearly doesn't work. Poor decision making killed the WB and UPN and they lost a lot of money, and it's slowly killing the CW because it's a failing network.

@Ace The CW is in an awful state, it's been declining every year and now 0.5/0.6 demos are all too common now on this horrible network. Buffy was a popular series that ran on longer than it should have, yet it was still not as bad as Gossip Girl. Gossip Girl was Dawn Ostroff's baby, it was given the special treatment compared to other shows and it still does poorly. Even in terms of syndication, Gossip Girl does poorly in repeats getting 0.2 in demos. Other shows that go past 100 episodes like Grey's Anatomy can actually be supported by its' success. Costs go up, for the actors' salaries, the costumes, the locations, etc.

@Lisa Not only did Blair not stop, she also kissed him back when she could've easily pushed him away if she wanted to.
@Zoran It's not only real life problems, the writers foolishly turned them into step siblings in Season 3 when not only did Rufus/Lily marry, they found out about their step sibling. It also doesn't help when the actors clearly want out of the show, especially Ed Westwick, who even went as far as criticizing his own character and the writing.
