In season 4 there was already another parallel between Chuck and Blair and the Humphrey sibblings with Jenny against them in 4x6 (Easy J) and Dan against them in 4x7 (War at the Roses), though it''s true the second was the reaction to the first one.
Also, Serena and Blair had some minor spats in the first half of season 4 (4x1 and 4x9, the latter is minor to me because Serena was framed and 4x10 revealed that), so it was inevitable that Chuck and Nate had a spat down the road, which is what happens between 4x20 and 4x21, due to the 4x20 incident but still it's not something that last long.

Which brings me to my most recent parallel: Chuck sleeps with Jenny at 3x22 (Last Tango, then Paris), due to reasons that were partly nihilistic as per the TWOP recapper. Now because Chuck as slept with Jenny, the show and the story had no other choice that to make Blair sleep with Dan. I really thought we could avoid this. Why everything that happens to one has to happen to the other? But now I've been proven wrong, and Blair sleeps with Dan. If the parallel is supposed to happen in it's entirety, in the same way the Chuck and Jenny thing ended badly, the same should happen with Dan and Blair. Granted, Chuck and Jenny felt nothing for each other when they slept together (like I said, in partly is nihilism), and Dair have feelings for one another, but still, it the parallel is to comply, it has to end between Dair, and probably badly.

On that same point of the general storyline Blair meets Louis, another French speaking personl like Eva, with sweet quailities as Eva. Nothing happens of that at that moment, but Louis is pretty much keep on store. He's brought back for the last 5 episodes of the season, and Blair becomes this entity that even if it's still Blair, has a behaviour that starts to distance itself from what we knew. For some fans part of the evidence was a whiny voice. Also the whole powerful woman thing is left in the dust. She becomes another entity, with her same name but not behaviour or goals, and it pretty much last until 5x13 where it also ends badly.

The most recent parallel recognized by fans was the whole I'm-with-someone-pretending-to-be-someone-I'm-not-in-a-way. Chuck meets and returns with Eva during the first 4 episodes of season 4. During the summer that we don't see and the first 2 episodes he pretends to be another person, I made in the moment person named Henry Prince. He creates on the road this whole other personality for Henry Prince that surely had bits of him but only the good ones. He holds onto Eva like she's his saving angel from on the bad in him and that has ocurred because of him. It fizzles badly at the end.

February 28th, 2012 10:14 PM
The other famous parallel was the whole 3x6 debacle compared against the 3x17 debacle. The games between Chuck and Blair scalated too far and she tricks him for the speech in Enough about Eve. Then after several episodes laters he does the hotel thing in Inglorious Bassterds. Again a debate, that still hasn't been resolved and probably never will be, but this time in a kinda reversed way where it's said that what she did couldn't compare to what he did, but in the sense it never granted to have such a terrible parellelism from his part.
Whenever Blair fights Serena, Chuck fights Nate sooner or later. Blair and Serena fights from 3x7 (How to Succeed in Bassness) until 3x9 (They Shoot Humphrey's, don't they). Chuck and Nate fight in a way between 3x17 to 3x18 (The Unblairness lightness of being) with remains of the fight in 3x19 (Dr. Strangeloved), granted their sorta fight wasn't as intense as some wanted (Nate punching Chuck for the hotel thing).

I put the episode number wrong, it was 2x5. Also during those episodes from 2x4 )The Ex Files) onwards, Blair fights her BFF (Serena), their fight doesn't last long. However on 2x6 (New Haven can wait), Chuck and Nate start fighting, just when Blair and Serena are patching things up. Chuck and Nate's fight last a bit longer, but they eventually patch it up on 2x11 (The Magnificent Archibalds).
On of the most striking paralelism, if well not entirely equivalent, is the fact that Chuck has a meltdown after Bart's death (2x13 O Bart where are thou), and Blair has a meltdown after loosing Yale (The Age of Disonance). Back in the day there was a strong debate on whether Blair's meltdown was worthy of comparison agains Chuck's, because it was a situation cause by a death after all. Anyways whether she should had freaked out like she did or not the fact is one thing happened after the other, first he freaked out and after a while it was her turn.

@Amayra Then that's your opinion.
That would make all of Blair's love confessions a lie, even the ones she said to Chuck, if she's lying to herself, then those must be a bunch of lies and she doesn't really love him, right?

@Cb: Here I am, I had a lot of work today.
I have a theory since before all this mess, I have never written here because I think nobody will support it. My theory is that, regardless of ships and endgames, whatever happens to Chuck happens to Blair and viceversa. Besides the matching thing which is another story, the similar backgrounds and upbringings, if you check season 2, when Blair fought with Jenny in the Serena Also Rises (5x5), Chuck ended up fighting Dan on that same episode, so they both fought with the Humphrey siblings at the same time. On the same episode, Blair ends fighting with Serena, so both Chuck and Blair end up fighting against Dan and Serena (one main ship against another).
@Anonymous: If I say he's my favorite, most complex on this show then he is. Blair is a walking contradiction. I don't need to call her a liar. She is lying to herself.
Anonymous
February 28th, 2012 9:13 PM
@Amayra There's nothing complex about his, he used to be a fun, interesting character before the writers ruined him and turned him into a stock 'bad boy' archetype. In fact, the same goes for all of the characters. Why lithium? Blair said she wasn't in love with Chuck or are you calling her a liar because that would make all of her previous, cheesy love proclamations meaningless.
My head is still spinning but I enjoyed this episode & Georgina's antics. So Chuck's got 'bad blood' in his veins... Only in the UES do they hunt down a family member for a blood transfusion in an emergency instead of using the blood bank.
Blair: "I love you more and more each day... but I'm not in love with you." Lithium please! I think she likes Dan and feels gratitude but is not in love with him. Hence the bad sex. Dair fans- you got Dair but you couldn't expect chemistry.
Ivy offed Cece?: ITA with Steve: "I would honestly have said no in a millisecond before she threw Lily and Rufus out onto the street." That was cold for someone who supposedly wants her pretend family.
Chuck: I hate what they're doing to my favorite, most complex character but what doesn't kill you...
Predictions: Who's the Daddy!
Lola- William (yes but when can you ever believe Carol)
Chuck- Jack
Milo-Louis
Blair's miscarried baby- Chuck

You have nothing to complain about, yet you're in here whining about everything that doesn't go your way.
Blair doesn't have any self respect, she lost it when Chuck almost punched her and when he traded her for a hotel like a piece of property.
lol
February 28th, 2012 9:03 PM
I am going to be laughing my butt off in the series finale because no matter what all you annoying idiotic bandwagon dair shippers say there is no way Blair and Chuck are not ending up together. Go watch season 1 and 2. Blair is going through a divorce and rebounding onto Dan. Now its just awkward because when she finally does end up with Chuck she is going to have slept with all their wedding guests. I miss the B that respected herself enough to never touch a guy from Brooklyn.
Oh and to the 'anonymous' username that keeps telling everyone to stop watching the show... shut up. no one is going to stop watching a show they have watched for five seasons because of your mindless input.

@lindseynlu It's unfortunate that Blair turned into such a pathetic, weak-willed, whiny character, it started in Season 3 when she was traded for a hotel like a piece of property and from then on she's had less and less self respect for herself, it's really sad. It just goes to show you how meaningless Blair's words/love/feelings really are, nothing about her is genuine or sincere anymore, especially Season 3 onwards.

@QueenB The show itself is idiot because the writing is terrible, it's become revolved around relationship drama and it doesn't help that none of the characters have actually developed or when they do they constantly regress.
@Jeca Why would he be in the Himalayas?
@charissa29 Maybe if the characters actually get to develop beyond the whole tired, stale back/forth crap, Gossip Girl wouldn't be in this position. Making this all about the relationship drama is a huge mistake, especially since the writers can't seem to develop any of the characters/relationships properly.
