Wow they really grow alot and showed that this episode such as Kono who stood up for what she believes in Steve giving her a compliment at the end was so cute and Steve looked so proud and happy for his friend when he was watching Danny family moment.Alex looks so much better this ep.
Welcome home Five-O Glad to have you back! If someone can post the link for the CBS side after all my complains in the past months I want give them my congrats for a job well done!

The team dynamic was back and to me it seemed that even the actors Alex,Scott, Daniel and Grace`had more fun working all felt so right last night!!
The McDanno banter was spot on those two are a golden couple!! We got so much back from season one;
Duke and Mamo some lovely Hawaiian scenery, The team going out together for a drink Hello Hilton missed seeing you! and even a "You have aneurism face" LOL but in contrast of season 1 Steve can now use a grenade and Danny just leaning agaist the car and looks relaxed about it. Danny really can swim in the past Steve always wondering if he really could swim. Continue!!

@ Jim G....reservist are required to do 2 weeks a year on active duty (AT), however, both Navy & Air Force do not require they be done consecutively (don't know about the other reserve services)...and hasn't Steve shown up in uniform a few times this season? Those would have been TDY (temporary duty) or AT. Love his service to the Navy and the elite SEALS.
I, too, loved this episode and glad we are back to what made H50 a great new show last season...thanks CBS (and H50 writers) for listening to the fans and giving us back the show we were attracted to in the first place! My only compaint would be more face time for the visiting celebrities...Shane and Apollo could have stood a few more minor scenes! Looking forward to James Caan next week (bet he has more than a few lines!).

Ratings also up in the 18-49 demo. H50 is getting alot of viewers back and maybe even some new ones who lost interest in smash already hence the 18-49 demo rise in ratings.

Ratings are out for last night. H50 viewers were up!!! And it won the 10 PM time slot yet again!!Woo hoo. These numbers are not counting dvr viewers which are usually around 3-4 mill for H50. Not sure about the other shows.
H50-10.2 mill
Castle 9.6 mill
Smash 6 mill (big time drop in ratings)

Jim, I know it's you job to review the show, and I thank you for that, but can't you just stop picking at every little thing and just enjoy the show for once.

@Jim: Regarding the house sitting, I'm hypothesizing that it's either an excuse to help Danny out without making Danny feel like a charity case (the most probably option), or it's to reduce the chances of the house being broken into while Steve's away.

@jim Alot of people don't like to leave their home empty when they have to be gone. Anything could happen. Since Danny doesn't have a house it would make sense to me that he would ask him to watch his while he was gone.

I personally would want to housesit for anyone who lives on the water in hawaii. I am thinking danno's new home will not have quite the view as steve's home has.

Thanks for the catch... most reservist I know due 2 weeks a year so I went off that, I totally missed he said he was only gone a week... which does beg the question... If Steve doesn't have pets, why does he need a house sitter for a week?

@sarah..I would be fine with autumn reeser not being on anymore, not because I dont like the actress but I want danny to move on from his ex. I just want to make sure grace never leaves. I love the relationship danny has with her. It is so cute.

@jlopie..that is a good point. I hope those fans know the show is back to its old glory too. I am thinking alot of them did watch to see if it could return to season 1 status after last week. I so hope so anyway. Ratings need to go up again, that would really be the ultimate confirmation that all is well again.

@zia..yeah your right danno smiled more too and joked with steve. That relationship is so important to the show and it is back. Even kono and chin seemed more light hearted, they smiled alot last night too. And i got my cargument, actually two of them....so so happy!
I gave it five stars and I have not done that this season as of yet.

Why don't you think Danny is messy? In the pilot we saw his tiny little 1 room apt. with the bed unmade and shirts hanging here and there. And NOBODY lets their dog lie on their bed? Really?
Personally, I liked the crime of the week. I thought Apollo Ohno did a bang up job and even Shane Victorino's cameo was enough. I had no idea the business partner was a well known actor who always plays the villain, so I was not in on the obvious, as you and your wife were, Jim. Meaning that I was not let down by the resolution of the procedural.
I have to say, I enjoy Danny at this happy point in his life. Very glad the writers did not have Rachel banish Danny from Grace's life because of the kidnapping plot, and so pleased the whole team - including Kamekona and Max, are together as Ohana again.
I hope word gets out to the H5-0 fans who left the show earlier for whatever reason, that their Show is back, and they should give it another chance!

I loved this episode. It felt like the old 5-0! Steve and Danny joking and spending time together, Kono and Chin as more than just background characters. I don't think this story was completely cliched, but it is a cop show after all. The stories on Law and Order, CSI, etc. are the same way.

Well, Jim, thanks for the review. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with you - about almost everything.
Our beloved H50 is back and full steam ahead! It's taken 17 long episodes to finally get us to where we were before S1 finale, but mission accomplished. We are finally back to where the Core Four are front and center for an entire episode, and their chemistry was so smooth, it made me completely forget the other characters (Joe who? Lori who?) who put in time on the show this season. Happy Dancing was occurring all over the fandom last night and this morning.
There is no such thing as too much bromance - not for fans who have been in bromance withdrawal for an entire season. It might have felt like overkill because there has not been more than 10 sec. of real cameraderie between the team all season, but I'm sure it will level back out over the rest of this season.

Yeah they did have him say 1 week, but Jim is right, reserves are suppose to take 2 weeks at the same time once a year, and one weekend a month. Thats a flaw in the writing. But, who cares, we got our team back.
@Amazingalex.......He was smiling more, so was Danny laughing at Steve on the roof and his comment about the frittata. I know they have to have some serious episodes coming up for the finale, but I'm going to enjoy this one and probably next week also, before they get into the heavy stuff.

WIthin five minutes of the show being on and the first commercial airing, I already told my family that the show is WAY better without Lori!!!!!!
I was so happy to see the core-4 back in action. Chin and Kono working on cases and being shown.
I loved Autumn Reeser reprising her role as Gabby.
Best episode of the season. To the reviewer, I understand where you are coming from with the predictability but it's what worked last season too. Best part of this show is the interaction with in the team. It was great tonight and I am looking forward to it rest of the seasons.

I really liked this episode. So nice having Lori gone.
I really missed the banter the car with Danny and Steve. We did not have alot of that as of late when Lori was on as she was usually the one with Steve or Danny but I am so glad they brought that back. Steve and Danny are at their best when they are together and I loved all the scenes in the car BUT all their scenes together Danny talking about the tear gas and then Steve saying he could have just had Danny make a frittata!
Autumn Reeser has a new pilot so she may not be on the show much longer

They're back!! Yes!! This is the show that I fell in love with last season. The chemistry, the carguments, the camaraderie. Steve and Danny. Chin and Kono. Max and Kamekono. Danny's Camaro reminds me of Felix the Cat's bag of tricks (oh, oh, guess I'm showing my age!)- I wonder what else is in that trunk! And, who knew, Danny can swim!! The scene at the end with the team together socializing was very touching, just like old times (which was sorely missing when Lori was there; they never socialized, not once in 15 episodes, says a lot). Alex looked much better, well rested, not quite so thin (maybe he's not feeling the pressure quite so much anymore either). Looking forward to more of this. Thanks CBS and PL!
