The Vampire Diaries Round Table: "All My Children"

Tick... tick... tick...

The clock almost ran out on Elena on the final episode of The Vampire Diaries for a few weeks, but Damon and Elena came to their true love's rescue. Much to the chagrin of Bonnie, of course.

In this edition of the TV Fanatic Round Table, staff writers Matt Richenthal, Eric Hochberger and Dan Forcella relive "All My Children" while wondering: what the heck will they do on Thursday nights until March 15?!?

What was your favorite scene from the episode?
Matt: The cave-based, gasoline-laden exchange between Elena and Rebekah. The former totally called the latter out on her vulnerabilities, but the latter still holds a trump card over her human foe: Rebekah has slept with Stefan and Damon.

Eric: Damon turning Bonnie's mom. Not because it was particularly riveting, but because I'm glad to have my evil Damon back. Poor Klaus has been going too soft on me since he discovered what our Round Table has known for years: Caroline is awesome.

Dan: I absolutely loved the few bonding moments between Damon and Stefan. They're slowly but surely returning to their old ways, and each of them recognizes that they were better off that way. Damon did always make a better bad guy.

So, is Meredith really the Mystic Falls Murderer?
Matt: THE Mystic Falls Murderer? Probably not, it seems too obviousy. A Mystic Falls murderer? Yes, if her aim is as steady as her surgical incisions.

Eric: Oh, just paint the girl red and give her some gills. Yeah, I remember my 10th grade English class. What I'm trying to say here is I don't care how much you try to trick us, she is NOT the murderer. Nobody keeps those documents around unless they're investigating. Now as for the knife and shooting Alaric, well, I'll just have to tune in on March 15 with the rest of you.

Dan: Yeah, like anyone has ever had a hidden knife and not been the one going around town murdering people?!? In all seriousness, though, she did just shoot Señor Ric, so we can't count her out just yet.

Biggest heart string tugger: Damon's speech about guilt to Stefan, Elijah's speech about humanity to Rebekah or Caroline's speech to Elena about Bonnie's pain?
Matt: Elijah FTW! And not just because this is an easy way for me to plug my interview with Daniel Gillies. What a complicated, conflicted character The Vampire Diaries has created here. Only TVD can depict someone tearing out another's heart one moment, and then have the viewers' hearts melting over this same someone the next moment.

Eric: Option four: learning that there's a new tree, and thus a chance to actually lose my favorite new cast members to a plan we won't see fizzle out due to everyone's love of Elena. Also, Elijah's speech.

Dan: It definitely wasn't the last option  Caroline giving Elena a guilt trip about Bonnie's pain? I love her as much as anybody at this Table (well, maybe not Eric) but Caroline was in the wrong here. Elena has had just as much pain as anybody in Mystic Falls. Her entire family is gone. Give her a break, and let her bond with Bonnie.

What line would you use to pick up Caroline at a bar?
Matt: Hybrid? More like LOWbrid! I'll make you howl at the moon, baby.

Eric: Well, geesh, after learning that romantic drawings don't work, I'm currently tearing up plan one. But don't worry, after watching seven seasons of HIMYM I got plenty of Barney Stinson tricks up my sleeves. Yes, and most of those will involve magic.

Dan: The same one Josh Duhamel used to pick up his now wife Fergie: "You're hot." 60% of the time, it works every time.

Is this the last we've seen of Esther?
Matt: I'm actually gonna say yes. Why bother to return after that debacle of a plan? She should be spending her time getting as far away as possible from creepy Finn anyhow.

Eric: No! This is The Vampire Diaries! Even if they did manage to kill Esther for the second time, there's always "Ghost World."

Dan: Do not talk about Ghost World in my presence. I've been repressing those memories like it's my job. And no, this isn't the last we've seen of Esther. She will be back for another battle or two, as soon as she figures out what her weird son Finn's deal is.

I didn't actually feel the pressure I should have felt when time was running out for Elena. I thought that the scenes in the cave with Elena and Rebekah was pretty boring. Almost the entire episode was boring except when Cal, Klaus and Elijah found their mother and walked in this sexy, slow mo- kind off way, any scenes with Caroline and Klaus even though he got mad and loud with her, all of the scenes with Elijah in it, scenes with Cals pretty face and at the end the shooting. That's all.. (Cont -->)

Fav scene: none were that great. I can't believe I'm saying this but the way Caroline makes Klaus HOR NAY is funny. Klaroline was a much needed distraction. Meredith is hawt as hell but I don't care about that generic storyline. The question should be....why do we care? I would say Elijah pulled at my heart more but it was just to short. Damons speech wins because Plec and co are losing their minds and ended Delena to early. I may not ship BUT those two were just getting close, they completely lost me. What a terrible way to temporarily end a relationship. Should have just put 'to be continued' right after the kiss episode. Whatever happened to flow in a story? As for Bonnies 'pain'....Elena has lost nearly every person dear to her, ditto in some respects Caroline. Carebear was wrong and Damon spared her mom by making her a vamp.

Biggest heart string tugger: Damon's speech about guilt to Stefan, Elijah's speech about humanity to Rebekah or Caroline's speech to Elena about Bonnie's pain?
Caroline's speech because it again shows the audience how amazing her character is and how far she has come from that shallow girl in season one. Also I just liked it because someone finally told Elena that every bad thing that happens is to save her and that she needs to stop going out of her way to put herself in danger because other people suffer because of it! What line would you use to pick up Caroline at a bar?
Like others I think Klaus's approach is working just fine! Is this the last we've seen of Esther?
No I can imagine her and Finn appearing in the last one or two episodes of the season!

What was your favorite scene from the episode?
Well that is an easy question to answer, Klaus beating the crap out of everyone reminding the haters that he has not become weak. So, is Meredith really the Mystic Falls Murderer?
No, I mean that would be way too obvious but I definitely think that she is involved somehow and knows who it is!

How is it that Bonnie couldn't "choke" (that witchy fire in the head thingy) Stephan when he confronted her, instead she wanted to run (Or was she running to check her mum?)

3.) Biggest heart string tugger: Damon's speech about guilt to Stefan, Elijah's speech about humanity to Rebekah or Caroline's speech to Elena about Bonnie's pain? There's way too much guilt and blame-game problems with all the characters. Elijah's was at least a nice admission of guilt. 4.) What line would you use to pick up Caroline at a bar? Hey, How you doing?... hmm nope that's not going to work in a million vampire years. How about "Did anyone tell you that you look exactly like what Book Elena should look like?"

Strawberry fields

Favourite scene - Klaus chasing after Caroline and almost getting hit by a car. The guy is really making an effort. And Caroline totally used the fact that he likes her against him. That's how it's done, girls. Btw, it's really hard not to fall for Klaroline when they are so cute. Second favourite - Elijah, Klaus and Kol confronting Esther and Finn. There was something extremely powerful about that scene.

Strawberry fields

Biggest heart string tugger – Elijah all the way. Poor guy… And the letter he left for Elena… well, I'll admit it, I cried. As for Stefan and Damon – the relationship between Salvatore brothers is what keeps this show going. It's incredible how they love each other even when they don't like each other. That's the kind of bond that can't be broken no matter how many times they've both screwed up. As for Meredith – it would be way too easy if she was the murderer, but she did shoot at Alaric, so… I don’t know. Yeah, Ric, that is what you get for trusting hot psycho doctor. Obviously they will not kill off Alaric because that would be idiotic. On a side note – decision to turn Abby was a twist I could never see coming. But the whole logic behind the coin toss (that Elena doesn't have to hate both of them) was messed up. It doesn't matter who did it as long as they both agreed to do that. Still, it was incredibly touching that Damon took it off Stefan's hands.

1.) What was your favorite scene from the episode? Ans: The Bonding session between Damon and Stefan in the car seemed more like they were on a date or something. That said, favorite scene goes to Elijah's personal written note. Ahh manners and etiquette, I miss them so much in society. 2.) So, is Meredith really the Mystic Falls Murderer? But what to call her? I'm thinking of calling her "Triple MMM."
